I'm a Christian myself, and I share your thoughts. That last line, about The Bible being written by man, is very true. I've always toiled with the idea that man's own prejudices are in The Bible or that some things were misinterpreted.
There's some things in it that are a bit bothersome. Like, I can't imagine God condemning gays but okaying slavery.
And your argument dies right here...
One thing I have learned about the bible is that it works like a window into the soul. In the hands of a good man it will show goodness, in the hands of a vile man the same verse will bring forth his wickedness for all to see. The problem is, such a book does not work well in etablishing morals.

He very explicitly does, if the Bible's true.I can't imagine God condemning gays but okaying slavery.
So true...as in all religions. There's definitely some excellent lessons given by Christ.
He very explicitly does, if the Bible's true.
This is what I will never understand, the desperate need to cling to the Bible in the face of it's evil. X 1,000,000
Squirming to find a way to make the nice parts true, and ignore and excuse the bad parts...
No, it's all part of the same package. The same guys who are describing this God to you, are the same guys who would've apparently "added in their own prejudice and agendas".....so you shouldn't believe them.
And if God loves us, and salvation is a matter of life and death, why are these mere humans more powerful than GOD himself?!
'Cause God wants his message to come down through the ages, but is powerless to use his BlackHole, Sun and Earth-creating POWERS to keep men from perverting and twisting THE WORD OF GOD?!?
Nope, makes zero sense.
So true...as in all religions.
It doesn't mean they're all true.
3 guys can say "We should feed the poor."
If they all agree, but the third one says "We should feed the poor.
also, Gay people are an abomination and slaves should shut up and do exactly what their masters say "
wull see....you have to eliminate that guy.
A child molester can donate a million dollars to The Red Cross.
It doesn't excuse his molestation at ALL.
Hilter was VERY kind to his dog.
i was hoping god would strike this guy with lightning , now god is all pacifist
God FTW
The bible is ambiguous and cryptic for a reason. It's to separate those who will inherit the Kingdom from the poseurs.
And yet at the same time it works as a catalyst for the most vile acts. Sounds like the good is negated by the bad the bible does. So, if it comes out at zero why not get rid of it alltogether and rely on something less two faced? It works well as a catalyst for charity and altruism. Better than most literary works be they fictional or non-fictional.
There only fooling themselves and fellow poseurs.Hmmm, if that's the case then how come that the poseurs are the ones opressing the good decent people with the bible as their club?
The problem of how explicitly clear it is is a way larger problem than how vague it is.The bible is ambiguous and cryptic for a reason. It's to separate those who will inherit the Kingdom from the poseurs.
Ah, so god says "well let the good suffer so I can sort out the evil doers better" I bet everyone who has suffered under the poseurs will be thankfull for that. It makes me almost wish that God does exist so I can see how a gay pal of mine will spit into Gods face at the end of days because of all the **** he had to go through thanks to God's way of making the poseurs known. Heck I will spit after my pal then just to hammer the point home to his "Allmightyness".There only fooling themselves and fellow poseurs.
God is the one with the billions IQ. He can sort out the genuine far better than you or me.
You're assuming that the the vile acts outweigh the acts of goodwill done in God's name. And yet at the same time it works as a catalyst for the most vile acts. Right. The reason there is suffering is NOt because God grants us Free Will.everything in the universe has to do with choices, according to the Bible. Mee already stated this
Suffering cannot be excused by doing good deeds. If even one vile act is commited against a human being in the name fo the bible a million good deeds inspired by it will not absolve that one act. Making another human being suffer is a too severe thing. You're assuming that the the vile acts outweigh the acts of goodwill done in God's name.
How can you be quantitatively sure.
And I'm not suggesting anyone rely on any single belief or document. Just be open to learn from anything. The Bible has wisdom in it even though many parts seem like insane gibberish.
Read psalms sometime and argue against the reasoning of the content itself.
