I think Raimi's suit is superior, but to be fair, the reboot suit wasn't meant for set pics. Webb has mentioned doing numerous lighting tests to work with the texture of the suit. I'd say the set pics aren't a good representation of it at all. Remember those set pics of the TDK and Captain America suits? Atrocious. But the costumes themselves in the films were great. Because they were seen how they were meant to be seen.

I'm going to revisit this argument for a sec; the Garfield pic that I posted wasn't low-res, out of focus or poorly lit. It was a perfectly clear close-up shot. If that image doesn't make the suit look good, then the suit just doesn't look good.

I especially love the "I remember Gwen Stacy" featured in that issue.

The unused cover for Web of Spider-Man #118 (1st Scarlet Spider).

Scarlet Spider is awesome. Love Benjamin Reilly. His look is so indicative of the 90s.

Yeah, right down to the pouches that serve no apparent purpose.

Never saw the Scarlet Spider Amazing Fantasy image before.

...Aren't the pouches to hold the web fluid...? Last time I checked, that was there purpose.

No.. you COULDN'T care less.. otherwise that doesn't make sense.. hahaha :p

It was Steven Butler's unused cover to Web of Spider-Man #118, I'm not sure why it didn't see print since it's so cool.

^^ I second that. It seems as though a lot of unused covers are great. Such as the unused Steve Ditko cover to AF #15.

You mean this?

I'm actually amazed that Spidey's costume has LITERALLY not changed one bit since he was first conceived. Superman changed slightly, Batman changed LARGELY, Spider-Man didn't.

Yeah, it's crazy. That's the mark of a good design if I've ever seen one.

Then why did we never once see him reach into them?(If you can find a pic that proves otherwise, PLEASE post it.) And why would he need ankle pouches AND a utility belt? And why did he ditch them when he took up the mantle of Spider-Man?

The movie photo looks more like this than the Kirby cover.
And Spidey's symbol has changed. The pit-webs have come and gone and come and gone. That's pretty much it.

Yeah, other than those, Spidey's costume really has remained about the same over the years. It just goes to show what happens when a classic thing is made.

I just assumed that was their purpose. I have no real proof.

What movie photo?

And I don't really count the symbol because EVERY artist draws a different one, so as far as I'm concerned, there is no definitive spider. The pit-webs have come and gone like you said. That's different than what I was saying about Superman and Batman. The changes to Superman and Batman have never come back.

Add this to my list of reasons why I love his costume; virtually unchanged since 1962.
