I know this is the ENDGAME forum, but now that Tony is dead, well, let's put things in perspective for all MCU fans out there.
Since time travel has been finally introduced, as well as reality-branching, I feel like they could come back to past MCU eras in the upcoming movies and revive characters like Whiplash or Guy Pierce's Mandarin.

Contrary to popular belief, I'm not an MCU basher at all. I just hate and despise the MCU Thor and his terrible movies, as well as the cinematic adaptation they concocted for some minor characters: in primis, Falcon and Hawkeye.

I'm a huge Iron Man fan (I also collect the action figures from the movies, mark by mark LOL) and I always loved "IRON MAN 2".
To me it's a brilliant movie featuring a wonderful script, Downey Jr even more confortable as Tony Stark, terrific action scenes and the best solo superhero aerial battle ever put on a movie.
The story-arc about the "new element" is just mindblowing and meaningful.

Yes, I still think that "Iron Man 3" did not deserve such a huge commercial success, it was truly overblown, but I must say that it's a very good movie anyway. I didn't like the constant and mishandled DECONSTRUCTIONISM of the "Iron Man" mythology, quite frankly.
To me, the real THIRD chapter of the Iron Man saga will always be "The Avengers" (2012) which, still today, it's the best superhero team movie ever put on-screen; however, I always felt that Iron Man was the pivotal figure and the absolute lead on that.

So okay, guys, now you know what I think. Show some love and respect for "IRON MAN 2", this is the time!

Thread has nothing to do with Avengers: Endgame. The Avengers forum is not a MCU catch all forum. Iron Man has his own forum. This is going there.

But either way, Iron Man 2 is a movie I like, but is easily my least favorite MCU film.

So you think Ragnarok or Thor 2 are better? This is weird IMHO.

Ragnarok is 100 times better. That movie is awesome. TDW is same ballpark, but I like it more overall. The character drama with Loki trumps anything in IM2. Iron Man 2 is the most unfocused movie in the entire MCU. It's hardly a movie and more just a whacky collection of improved scenes. Heck, the main villain basically does nothing for like half the movie. It also has the single worst final battle in the MCU. The battle in TDW is at least whacky, hilarious, and entertaining. But watching Vanko fight Rhodey and Tony at the end makes me angry. It's really short and Vanko keeps taking his mask of IN THE MIDDLE OF A FRIGGIN FIGHT!!!! What is the point of armor if you don't use it? Iron Man 2 skates by because while it is unfocused, the individual scenes are largely entertaining themselves. But the movie just doesn't come together very well at all.

Matter of taste. To me "Ragnarok" is a horrible parody played for laughs, sort of "Scary Movie" of the MCU universe. Cartoonish scenes from start to finish, bad and excessive CGI, terrible screenplay filled with comical and ultra-silly moments, predictable one-liners and virtually NO character development of any type or any shape. The movie is one long, hypercinetic popcorn parody.
THOR is not THOR at all... he's a boring American football player without any depth or meaning. The fight with Hulk is just a poorly-produced videogame where both the characters are ridiculized.

IRON MAN 2 had an awesome story-arc and a lot of cohesion, and it took itself seriously without sacrificing irony and Tony Stark's charisma.

The final fight with Vanko had one hell of a direction and delivered the best, even if short --- well, you got a stellar aerial battle before anyway.

I basically disagree with everything you said, LOL! So it is shorter for me to just say I don't agree with you like at all. Thor: Ragnarok has tremendous character development and Iron Man 2 barely has a story. Agree to disagree.

Thor Ragnarok is definitely a dramatic tonal shift from the previous Thor movies but it is extremely enjoyable to watch and since it led into Infinity War, it was nice to have that light-heartedness before characters got killed off. They've been quite clever with how they've used Loki. He completed his redemption arc before getting killed off (because there wasn't really anywhere for him to go after that unless they had him regress) but by having 2012 Loki escape, they can still use the pre-redemption Loki that the audience enjoy.

I don't think Iron Man 2 is a bad film, but it has too many story fragments rather than one cohesive story and is basically used as a stepping stone to the avengers rather than being allowed to be its own movie. Iron Man 2 has great elements in it but they are either underused or not really used to their full potential.
