Because he was part of one of the very best storylines in the comics, he’s a great character and he’s one of the best Thor villains. I would probably put Gorr alongside Loki and Galactus as Thor’s top 3 villains.

Regarding the sword, they really didn’t make that much of a big deal of it with Hela. It was basically just another weapon in her arsenal. It just looked similar... that’s it. Neither did they make a big deal with Surtur’s twilight sword either for that matter.

The was definitely inspiration taken from Gorr to Hela but I think there’s plenty of room to make Gorr look his own thing without being too similar.

The gods not being present in the MCU maybe is just the right way to bring Gorr in. Maybe posing the question where are all the gods? Gorr could have been in his quest already throughout the cosmos.

Gorr has a lot to be explored; He's a very different character from the Hella We've seen.

There's a much richer story about his origins: a mortal who learnt to hate all the gods. The power he got, the incredible sword the All-Black, created by a powerful primal dark god Knull (another great character), was designed to slay all the gods, be them Space Gods, Celestials or Skyfathers. From it, the Symbiotes were created (making Knull the god of symbiotes). By accident, when Knull was vulnerable after fighting with many other gods, Gorr took it for himself, and started his journey to destroy all the gods in the universe.

There's so much potential here, specially with Bale!

When actor Clancy Brown was asked about it, he gave a hopeful answer. He told Comicbook, “That was a voiceover character pretty much. So, I mean, I would happily do it again, because it would be a mo-cap, and that would be fun, and a voice, but they didn’t sign me up for any multi-picture deal or anything like that.”

I would love to see Surtur back. Imagine a Hela vs Valkyries sort of flashback but this time featuring Odin vs Surtur, that would be pretty epic... Every Thor movie has had flashbacks to explore Asgard and their rulers previous history.
- Thor (Flashback to the war between asgardians and frost giants)
- Thor: TDW (Flashback to the war between the asgardians and the dark elves)
- Thor: Ragnarok (Flashback to the battle between Hela and the Valkyries)

In TLT they could have a flashback to an awesome battle between a younger Odin and Surtur both in their prime and how Odin managed to defeat Surtur and his fire demons. This flashback could also serve to explain the origin of BRB, the korbinites and the home planet Korbin which in turn could have been affected by their epic battle.

I also thought it could be Dario Agger but then I was wondering how he could pose a threat to a prime Thor, GOTG and company. Now Gorr warrants that much firepower and more, the necrosword makes him so much more powerful than Hela...

Gorr is the epitome of a badass villain. He’s incredibly powerful to the point where they needed to assemble 3 Thor’s to fight him. Also he looks so cool and menacing.

You gotta read Jason Aaron’s Thor comics in which Gorr is featured. The writing, the amazing art, scope... for me it’s the very best Thor stuff out there.

Gorr is the epitome of a badass villain. He’s incredibly powerful to the point where they needed to assemble 3 Thor’s to fight him.

I didn't expect Gorr to make it to the MCU when I was reading that awesome arc a few years ago. Even less so when they borrowed a little from him with Hela. If I had thought he might make it I certainly would never have guessed that they would get Christian Bale to play him.

This confirmation certainly increases my hype for Love and Thunder even more and I hope they let him be vicious. I could certainly see Gorr being the one to cut off Thor's arm if they are indeed aiming for such a look as rumored.

In the comics 3 Thor’s face off against Gorr... Young Thor, Avengers Thor and Old King Thor. I wouldn’t be surprised if they tweak that in TLT and instead feature Thor, Jane Foster Thor and BRB.

That King Thor look is my absolute favorite. The uru arm looks so freaking badass and it would add another layer of physical development to the character in the MCU.
