Switch The Official Nintendo Switch Thread - Part 2

How many years do you guys reckon the Switch will be around before Nintendo do a new console? It feels like it will be going strong for a long time and isn’t particularly in competition with Sony or Microsoft when their new consoles come out.

I'm going to try finding a Switch Lite if I can ever find one in stock again. The Switch is nice but it's also nice to not have to have one that isn't shared. :o Animal Crossing apparently only lets you have one island and even seperate profiles share it.

I only regret getting rid of my last switch the one with the dual red joy cons the one I have has the neon blue/red ones I still like the system and the fact that mine is new and not used I have the clip on joy con wrist straps.

I have boring grey ones. But I found these grips you can put the joy cons into, that not only make them a more comfortable size, but the grey matches great with the red.

Yeah I also have boring Grey ones because the other type were sold out. It’s not that big a deal I suppose once you start playing :)

got Ghostbusters the video game yesterday for 20 new and got the 3 new free game for the virtual NES and SNES life is good

I thought Donkey Kong Country was supposed to drop today? I don't see it in the Nintendo Shop anywhere.

Edit: I see it's only available online?

it did drop when you go to play the SNES games on the switch it will prompt for a download when done it will say there is a new game/games and it and the other SNES game pops up just as Immortal did for the NES games.

I played it all last night, it’s so much fun. The music still holds up!

We have direct sign!!!

So, not first party. So, no Mario or Zelda. Guessing No More Heroes. Possibly Bayo 3, finally. Maybe even SMT 5.

If they‘ll only announce the N64 games for the Switch virtual console...

Right, but I was expecting it to be available for purchase and not just on Switch Online

Not likely. Covid has hit japanese game development the hardest, just because their corporate cultures frown on work from home strategies.

Just got my first Nintendo Switch. So far only have one game (Smash bros). Any tips or things I should know about, please feel free to share.

Dumb question though: is there a dock you can get for the controller that holds the joycons, as well as the straps? I can see myself losing them very easily.

4K Switch incoming.

Nintendo Plans Upgraded Switch Console and Major Games for 2021

Nintendo Co. plans to debut an upgraded model of its Switch console next year along with a lineup of new games, people familiar with the matter said, ceding 2020’s holiday spotlight to rival devices from Sony Corp. and Microsoft Corp.

The specifications of the new machine have yet to be finalized, though the Kyoto-based company has looked into including more computing power and 4K high-definition graphics, people briefed on the strategy told Bloomberg News, asking not to be identified because it’s private. Nintendo faces stiff competition for gamers’ attention this fall as the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X are set to arrive in time for the shopping season.

The release of the upgraded Switch would be coupled with, or followed by, a slew of games from Nintendo itself and related outside studios, the people said. Those games would address a wide range of players, from casual gamers seeking small doses of escapism to more devoted fans putting in marathon gaming sessions. The focus on next year’s pipeline explains Nintendo’s relatively quiet software release schedule so far this year, the people said.

How will this work out? Will the the normal Switch be able to run the new games?
It would be very disappointing to buy a new console again...

Sounds like a more powerful Switch (see PS4 Pro).

I reckon instead of 720p handheld and 1080p docked, it'll be 1080p handheld and 4K docked.
