Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings General Discussion and Speculation thread

glad to hear this has started back up but little concerned that it is supposed to be completed and in theaters in less than nine months!

Nine months is plenty of time. Actually I am wondering, since this is a martial arts flick and therefore will likely have more practical effects maybe it doesn’t need as long? Or maybe cgi needs less time? It would be interesting to find out

Just an update, apparently they’re going to keep filming neighbours somehow despite the lockdown

Neighbours To Continue Melbourne Filming As Stage 3 Lockdown Reintroduced

Good to know we can find Neighbours news in the Shang Chi thread. :p

It says "Since returning to filming in April, the cast and crew have been practising social distancing, with no kissing allowed on set."

What kind of set is this that there's regular kissing on it that has to be disallowed?

I guess they don't mind she had a brief cameo in Guardians of the Galaxy 2. They need to get some other big names for this film like Jackie Chan or Jet Li.

Ha, well there’s certainly a few neighbours cast members I wouldn’t mind kissing.

I think if you’re a big enough star and the former role was tiny enough you can get away with having another go of the marvel pie. Michelle yeoh can have little and big a marvel roles, as a treat

Michelle Yeoh? Awesome get.

I actually kind of love that analogy for Shang

He looks more like someone from Street Fighter there.
Is that a bad thing? I’d want him to have his own identity separate from any existing fighting game characters, but I also think he’d be a very good fit for one (like Street Fighter, although he’d have to be quite different from the likes of Ryu and Fei Long).

Well I don't want him to look like someone from another game when he already had a more unique look from the comics, especially the classic red and yellow costume where he was based more on Bruce Lee.

I woudnt mind a beer with black pepper crab :)

Why can't Marvel get Jackie Chan or Jet Li in this movie?

Jet Li has been battling hyperthyroidism which is why he hasn't done much acting in recent years and was replaced by Donnie Yen in the XXX movie. Li only took the emperor role in Mulan because his daughter wanted him to.

Oh no, that’s a shame. I thought he would go onto to get a bunch of good action film roles.

His action roles are seemingly over unfortunately. His illness combine with ongoing spinal problems is why he hasn't done a action role in half a decade. He was told he could end up in a wheelchair if he keeps doing action parts.

According to Grace Randolph, they also dubbed his voice. It sounded like that in the trailers already. Though from what I remember, his English isn't very good.

Oh that’s really sad to hear. I had no idea. I wish him the best in dealing with this illness and hope he can have a good life even though all his talent will go to waste.

A lot of these old Hong Kong action stars from the eighties and nineties have wrecked their bodies. Most of these guys and girls were doing their own stunts with no CGI. Jackie Chan has talked about how he couldn't get insured in the U.S doing his own stunts like in Hong Kong.

The fact the likes of Jackie Chan, Donnie Yen and Michelle Yeoh are alive and still active is a miracle.

Jackie Chan has burned, broke, torn and cut just about everything you can and still be alive. His had more concussions than some NFL players.
