X-Men - Part 8

I’m watching the comic con panel on marvels channel now and Storm was picked for having best moment (and great part) in the X of swords story coming up by the Marauders writer. As someone who’s noticed that so often Storm is usually just a background character I’m excited. Looks like she has a dance with Death from one of the covers.

Ya Storm doing something on a cover that isn't just showing off her powers is a great sign.

Can't wait for some proper Storm content. They do still have to follow up on what happened to her in
Giant Sized Jean & Emma
as well. Excited!

I kind of loved X-factor. I like the team composition, and really justified it as a investigation unit. Really nice in going back on some of Rachel's more forgotten powers. And I like the character work they seem to be setting up for Polaris. Look forward to having Aurora added to the group as well. And potential for more interactions with the Five, which could be cool.

I just finished the x-men/fantastic four #4. Xavier goes boss mode at the end I was here for it.

I thought X/F4 had good first and last issues. The two middle ones were middling. Something better probably should have come out of the F4's cameo in HoX.

X-Factor had one of my fave #1s. Hellions and X-Factor are my faves out of the gate and they didn't even come out of phase 1!

Yep X-Factor had a pretty strong start! Hellions is fun too, though I think Marauders is still my favorite. Also, I like that we're finally picking up on some older plot threads. There is also mutant stuff in a non Dawn of X book...
Deadpool #6

Overall I think the individual books have been stronger lately than they were at the beginning of Dawn of X. I approve.

My local shop is still a little frazzled from the shutdown, so I haven't gotten my hands on X-Factor yet, but it's good to hear it living up to the hype.

Marauders is still my favorite but...
I wish they hadn't resolved Kate's death so fast. I get that no mutant deaths are going to stick long term with this status quo, but having her funeral and resurrection in the same issue was a bit much for me. It undercut some of the powerful moments at the beginning.

Marauders spoilers
Yeah I think the way they resolved the death made sense. (Though we still don't know why she can't use gates either). It also made all the build-up towards it seem a bit silly and thus it was a bit underwhelming.

It feels to me like they would've probably allowed a bit more time if not for the pandemic shifting dates and the upcoming X of Swords. Overall I did not dislike the issue, but it definitely felt rushed to get to the next crossover.

Pretty interesting that Juggernaut and Wolverine: Black, White and Blood are not using Dawn of X logo conventions, or referencing Krakoa in their descriptions. This despite earlier teases that Juggernaut would also be about his relationship with Krakoa. Plus, having two Wolverine books simultaneously is also a bit weird.

Nice trailer! Still have a lot of questions about this event, but I too hope it lives up to the hype. :)

They did walk back the statements on Storm a bit, or at least said the big stuff with her won't be this year, even though she has some great moments still.

Nrama: Storm has been going through some stuff leading up to 'X of Swords,' and you recently said there would be big things ahead for her. What can you tell us about that? How does all this connect to the techno-organic virus Storm has been suffering in her Giant-Size X-Men one-shot?

White: There is a lot going on with Storm! First off, I don't want to spoil anything from the Giant-Size X-Men: Storm #1 issue! So that'll be the first place you should check out.

She does also have some great moments in 'X of Swords,' especially in Vita Ayala's Marauders #13. But, I think you might be referring to a really amazing Storm development that I cryptically mentioned recently.

That is in the very early stages, but... it's amazing. Unfortunately, it's something that won't be happening until next year. But I think you will know it when you see it - it's pretty huge.

Trinary is finally returning and she's gonna be a New Mutant. They gave her the same generic costume but at least she got to wear her's in red and not yellow

Finally catching up a bit.

Excalibur was good. Though, going to be honest, the covid break hurt the pacing of this book the most, as I am trying to remember the exact plot. The psyche out issue didn't help either. Still enjoying the series though. Definitley loved the Rogue and Gambit bit.

X-men was fun seeing Magneto let loose. Creative combo with Magma.

Hellions sure was a thing. I love what they are doing with Maddie, and good on Alex for resisting for a bit. Not quite sure where its going, but it is going to be surprisingly disturbing. I do wonder who wrote that bit about the Hellions. Good point about Kwannon not being Betsy, but interesting. I wonder if it was Angel.

I just love X-factor. Just a wonderfully fun book. Not normally a fan of Mojo, but I love the horror that they created by updating it to the new live stream world we live in. Especially the part where Daken didn't get to enter, because he tried to be too sexy. And then Northstar making fun of him for it.

Happy to see Trinary back, although admittedly New Mutants is the last title that needs MORE cast members. Also nice to see Anole again, though it's a bummer he's just a bartender. The WATXM era of students really just can't catch a break.

Speaking of Hellions, my wish for next issue is for it to be revealed that Maddie is the one that brought Kwannon back. FA revealed that she had been lingering around in Betsy's body and that only makes sense if it happened during the Sisterhood arc when Maddie used her magics to bring Psylocke back and had Betsy switch bodies with the body that Spiral stiched together. Betsy fought a demonic version of herself, which in retrospect would make sense if it were Kwannon. After Betsy defeated her, Kwannon lay dormant in her head until Betsy died in MiM.

Zeb really needs to connect the stories especially since both characters are here

I was thinking the same thing. Having Trinary in New Mutants is nice, but that book already has huge issues with its cast. With 17 characters it's already way too crowded.

Just a thought, but how about instead of X-Corp and Children of the Atom we do a new Exiles that travels through the different timelines of Moira's life or something? :D

They arent timelines; they are lifelines. Thats an important distinction bc everything thats happened in them is 616. I dont think this concept would work bc everything that happened in her past life is set in stone. If you start going back to it with some time hopping team, that would break the narrative that Hickman is telling with this era. Id rather see stories that exist in those lifelines as is from Moira's perspective rather than some outside team that doesnt belong their influencing things

Well they've already been teasing that black holes could be used to travel between them. I think the distinction might not be as important in the long term, but I guess we'll see. Seeing it from Moira's perspective would be really, really cool as well though! I'd be satisfied with that Moira X book as well. :D

They've moved Hellions #4 to next week I see. Between that, Giant-Sized Storm and the XoS preludes things are about to get real. :D
