Here we go!

3090 - $1499
3080 - $699
3070 - $499

The 3070 being a better 2080 Ti and for 500 bucks?! Holy ****.

Just my luck I paid up ahead for the 2080 Ti before they make the bargain of the decade. :csad:

I feel for you and others who have bought a Series 20 card...

Speaking of which, @Lily Adler where are you at with the upgrade? :D
I’ve been too busy to play and now my graphics card takes a £1,000 hit overnight lol. I kind of feel forced to upgrade. No point splashing out on everything and then being behind the new entry level series 30 card.

The RTX 30 series are such an advancement that I'm considering doing a new build early in the new year. At that point, I will be at 4 years since I built my current PC that it might just make sense to start from scratch... @geetard and @Iceman, thoughts?

Dragging myself to upgrading. Now we have new GPUs coming.
AMD's Big Navi reveal is around the corner. I don't think they can compete Nvidia when it comes to performance and tech, but they definitely can with the price point.

Yeah, I would definitely go with a new build. If you want that PCIe 4.0 goodness, reminder that only a select few AMD mobos offer that interface. Intel will support PCIe 4.0 with their Rocket Lake CPUs coming out later this year or in 2021.

Nvidia suggests a PSU of 750W for the 3080 and 3090; 650W for the 3070. So take that into consideration for the budget if your current PSU is too low.

I'm not ready to build a new rig yet so I'll wait for the 40 or 50 series at most thus my 6600k/1070 will have to suffice me for the next two years. :hehe:

This is the definitely the time to upgrade if you can. I wouldn't expect another leap at such good value for a long time. Just a shame I timed it so badly lol.

It happens to us all. I remember when I built my first serious gaming PC in 2005 and then Crysis came out barely a year later and I could run **** bugger all with it after that.

Haha. Have you decided yet whether to take the plunge?

Yes, I am going to build a new PC from scratch as soon as Intel releases their Rocket Lake processors - which is supposed to be late this year or early next year according to @geetard. The release window for Rocket Lake is actually perfectly in sync with my usual upgrade schedule of building a new PC every four years for my Birthday. :funny:

Excellent! exciting stuff. Good luck with it.

Sooo with the announcement of Microsoft purchasing Bethesda, it's looking increasingly likely that I'll be playing their future games on PC. Last year my brother built me my first gaming PC with a GTX 970 graphics card. a relatively decent card, and i'm hoping to upgrade by december. He's considering selling me his card, which is currently the second most powerful on the planet haha. He's looking to get the 3080. My current card doesn't really give me trouble with anything so I can't imagine what that card will do for me if I get it haha.

What is the model of the card that your brother wants to sell you and how much ? Just curious.
Also, maybe he should hold on buying an Nvidoa 3080/90, crashes have been reported due to some manufacturers being cheep on the capacitors.

GeForce RTX 3080 CTD Issues update #5 - we think it's fixed (and a bit of analysis)

No stress :)
At least you know the card is working.

AFAIC, I changed my mouse after 8 years (Kana V2 to Zowie S2+Zowie pad) and I'm waiting for a new keyboard keyset for my Filco. My setup will look like new :)

sorry for the late reply, but he has a 2080ti so i think it's like the 4th or 5th fastest. I can't wait to get it.
Like @Iceman, you have the top GPU from previous gen. You're set, man.

Filco keyboard huh? A man with good taste. :sly: What fancy keyset are you getting may I ask?

There is not many choice for a full French keyset (unless I go full ninja with no lettering) so I bought a double shot ABS set from the same company I bought the keyboard from 10 years ago.

The keys looks like in the picture below (this is not my keyboard), not black but brownish, more rounded. It looks retro which I like.

yeah man! My brother needs to get the 3080 before he gives me the 2089ti so hopefully the latest will be January that I get it.i currently have a GTX 970, as I said which is still a good card but definitely time for an upgrade. Already pre ordered the PlayStation 5 too so my whole entertainment center set up will be great haha.

It's definitely a big upgrade. And you're getting the GPU for free? He's a great brother.

I went ninja with my QuickFire Rapid (similar build quality to Filco) with custom ABS keycaps. It's my daily driver (well, used to be before the pandemic and WFH)... I have the Anne Pro at home with a PBT keyset.

Both with brown switches. :hrt:

The ninja keyboard looks like candy :)
I like the color pattern of the first one, Esc/Enter color looks good with it.
I see a Vader and Trooper helmet keys, yes ?

The new keyset was delivered and installed.
Typing is different, it's smoother and maybe less noisy, I will have to adjust :)
Edit:
not a fan of the feel of the space.
the big lettering is good

Oui, monsieur! Artisan keycaps... Yeah I don't think I'll be buying anymore considering the hefty prices (40 USD a piece :funny:).

Looks like the SA keycap profile. I've used nothing but the OEM profile.

What switches do you use?
