Moon Knight Marvel Studios' Moon Knight General Discussion Thread

Awesome casting. I feel like this is the first blockbuster role his considerable talents won’t be wasted in, so yay. Can’t wait!
I feel like he'll be good in Dune. Villeneuve gets great performances from even his bit part actors.
Also, absolutely love this casting so much. Love Isaac, love Moon Knight, never thought of the two but now I can't contain my excitement for this project.

Oh I’m sure he’ll be good in Dune and that movie will be amazing (it’s my most anticipated movie at the moment...well, tied with The Batman), but this is a more demanding role than the character he’s playing in that, which is what I meant by that.

I find this mind blowing just because Sawyer and I thought he was a fit for Batman. The charming bastard.

How can you just not love him?

Oh yeah, I agree there then. I thought Isaac was just spectacular in Inside Llewyn Davis and great in A Most Violent Year, but didn't feel like he was utilized that well in Star Wars or X-Men.

He still comes through hard in Star Wars even with all the problems.

If it holds, Oscar would definitely have me more excited and I've wanted some sort of Moon Knight vehicle in TV/movie for years. I can deal with his height. If I can buy Tom Hardy as Bane, this would be nothing.

All in all, I'm not all that pressed on casting. I'm still giddy over the thought that Marc Spector is coming. :woo:

If anything, one of the worst crimes of the sequel trilogy was how they misused and abused Isaac and his character. It was a complete waste after the fairly promising start. So, him getting to be Moon Knight? I approve.

Agreed.

Great casting choice. Not what I was expecting when they said Jewish actor (which would have been nice), but he's a great actor, so I can't complain about that.

As with everyone else, awesome casting.

I mean, look at Triple Frontier.

Now, we just gotta get that Costume right, but we know Issac Looks great in white Armor.

Cool casting. Don’t really know to much bout 616 Moon Knight because I’ve only read him in the Ultimate Spider-Man books and like him there. This is exciting though to have casting now.

Interesting casting. Not someone who was at all on my radar, but he’s a great actor. I do wish they would have chosen someone a little less ambiguously of Jewish descent, but he does have some Jewish heritage which is better than none at all. And it’s Latinx representation as well which is awesome.
The big question of course is, will his Moon Knight radiate the same kind of gay energy as Poe Dameron, and will Disney allow him a bit more creative freedom as an actor, as a way of maybe making up for Star Wars?

Lovely. I hope he gets to dance like in ex machina

Anyone got any suggestions for who could play Raoul Bushman?

Well in terms of "gay energy", there's always the dynamic between him and Frenchie, whom we did eventually learn was a gay man.

And since I didn't get him as Marc Spector, I say Sascha Barron Cohen as Frenchie.

Lovely. I hope he gets to dance like in ex machina

I hope he gets to act out the Psycho Moon Knight memes.

"Random Bull****, GO!!"

He'd never do it...

But Will Smith would be a great opponent as Bushman. He's getting to that point where he can easily play the heavies.

Would he do a show on streaming? Maybe.

If not Smith...

Hisham Tawfiq from Black List.

Or...

Michael Jai White.

Dark horse... Godfrey. (Always liked this guy but he fell off my radar... And now he's back.)

Seems like very good casting and I like to think it's Disney's way of acknowledging that they didn't use an awesome actor nearly well enough in the Sequels, even though it's different parts of the company.

He is part Jewish by patrilineal descent so there's that, even if he was raised Christian.

I'm fine with Oscar Isaac in the role. Hadn't considered him.

I thought for Agents of SHIELD that they said that white doesn't work on film when it came to Mockingbird's costume. So how come it works now for Moon Knight? Or are they going to make him grey or just go for the black costume? I do hope he has the full white costume rather than the one with the gold and the ankh symbol, or the one with the black body. White makes him look more like a wraith, while black has been used way too often, especially with Batman. I don't mind if he gets the ankh later on, but the classic moon symbol is a must.

From the article:

"Diab’s film Eshtebak (Clash) was an official selection at the 2016 Cannes Film Festival, in the Un Certain Regard category. He is also known for his directorial debut film Cairo 678, which was released a month before the Egyptian revolution. Diab also wrote the blockbuster Egyptian franchise El Gezeira (The Island), which are among the highest grossing Egyptian and Arabic films of all time. His next feature, Amira is eyed for release in 2021."

Sounds actually more accomplished than some who have been tapped to helm some MCU movies lately.

Is getting a director from the Middle East and an Egyptian one at that indicate they are going to lean heavily into the mythology/mystical stuff?

If Raoul Bushman is in the show, I will be surprised. If he is, he will be completely different than what he is in the comics, and I also doubt he will be called Bushman.

Secondly, Oscar Isaac's height is not an issue. Isaac is a pretty average height, and Moon Knight is not particularly a giant powerhouse. Look at his ML action figures. Dude is not exactly Thor or Venom.

Thirdly, I hope Jeremy Slater is up to the task. This is his chance to prove what happened with Death Note and Fantastic Four were not his fault.

Fourthly, please do not sacrifice iconography for gritty realism. I want him wearing his costume and a mask.

Fifthly, please keep the Jewish parts of his background intact. I'm willing to go along with Isaac's casting as long as they do that.

Well is it really representation if he's not playing the character as Latin? Also, a large majority of the Latin population does not like the term "Latinx" and does not identify with it.

I've heard of Isaac having some Jewish heritage, but it all sounds very dubious at best. As far as I know, he was born and raised in an Evangelical Christian family.

I’m not too familiar with Moon Knight but I’ll watch Isaac in anything :oldrazz:. Though the character sounds cool and I like these mystical type hero stories.

I didn’t think Oscar would do another one of these big projects after he said he was disappointed with his experiences on Star Wars and X-Men. But this is the title character and a show, not a movie so I’m sure this’ll be better for him. Fingers crossed that Marvel treats him right.

Kevin Feige has always been good at attracting this type of talent. I imagine besides a big payday, getting to play a character who's major issue is his multiple personality disorder and being very close to the wrong side of crazy if not well over that boundary attracted Isaac.

I'm not sure how they are going to play Khonshu in the series, but I imagine they will always keep you guessing. Is what we're seeing and viewing "real" and part of Marc Spector's conscious mind, or is he an unreliable protagonist who is making up some of what's taking place in his head? There are a lot of psychological angles you can take with Moon Knight/Marc Spector.
