Looks like everyone who had Florian Munteanu as Razor Fist was right on the money.

I'm no expert on Shang Chi comic lore but it seems like the rest of the cast are made for movie characters.

Their names are new at least. But they also made up a new name for the Mandarin. It's possible they're existing characters who have been renamed with more authentic Chinese names that will appeal more to Chinese audiences and/or sound less insensitive than those Steve Englehart or some other white American comic writer came up with in the '70s.

Well he's the one who introduced Fu Manchu into Marvel for one. And those early comics introduced characters like M'Nai or Shaka Kharn, which don't strike me as super authentic Chinese names.

Fu Manchu (and Charlie Chan) is what every racist white person would call any Asian person back in the day. I hope today's generation have not even heard of these characters.

Exactly. So my point is, many (especially early) Chinese characters around Shang-Chi have names that aren't ideal for a movie targeting Chinese audiences. So it's hard to say if characters with names we haven't heard before are new entirely or reimagined and renamed versions of comicbook characters.

Of course, some people are so racist that it wouldn't matter what you named the characters. These racist people even would call other Asians genuine names like "Bruce Lee" or "Jackie Chan" as racist nicknames, so you can imagine they would even use the name "Shang Chi" in the same way.

I woudnt expect this. Im sure Disney will wait at least another month to figure what happen with the vaccination.

They already have a plan. Streaming is the priority now for Disney and they can’t release all this TV projects if the theatrical releases will get delayed. They want to have that Secret Invasion project out by 2022 and a lot of those theatrical releases are interfering with that.
The target audience for Shang Chi - Asia - could already have theatrical releases.
The rest will have premiere Access.

Well, when you say big comic con, SDCC isn't until July 22, but assuming Shang-Chi doesn't get delayed again (I'm betting it may, or get a hybrid release), the movie would be out before that.

To be honest, I thought they would have tried to do something with Lunar New Year. But I guess they want to focus on Black widow first idk

They would likely move. Like we should have gotten a trailer by now, if Black Widow is still releasing in May.

I think Marvel will and should move this.
