Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness general news and discussion thread

Is the reason Scott left as director over creative differences maybe because he wanted a horror focused film exploring the dream dimension, astral plane etc but Marvel wanted to follow The Flash and bring in past iterations of their franchises?

Mhh I like this guess. IIRC Scott want kill a lot of supporting cast one by one. I think that will really not match with this multiverse idea. I cant even imagine the horror vibes anymore with the actual plot.

I’d love to see him again, although I’m really looking forward to the eventual MCU Wolverine too.

Which mcu character are you most keen on seeing wolverine interact with? Hopefully they can slip in a Tom Holland spidey scene before he disappears over to Sony

I really doubt it. If Hugh won't do it for Ryan, then I don't think he's do it for anyone else. I still hope that he may do a Deadpool film with Ryan, but the thought he'd come back as Wolverine in a film separate to Deadpool when he's been telling Ryan no for years seems a bit questionable.

If he did come back for a one off then I would love to see him with both Deadpool and Tobey Maguire's Spider-man if they were going full multiverse. Let whoever becomes the mcu's Wolverine interact with Holland's Spider-man instead.

Watching Kevin Smith's live stream and he apparently said he heard that
Wanda may be the actual villain or main antagonist.
Who knows at this point.

I would detest for that to be the case. She is my favorite female avenger and one of my fav avengers in general. I would much rather a team up.

I wonder what makes Tom Cruise cameo as Tony Stark more likely to happen than Leonardo DiCaprio's Spider-Man.
The latter project atleast had a script (the one by James Cameron)

Well it's only a very unsubstantiated rumour at this point but I would imagine it has something to do with the fact that if you want another version of Spider-Man then you only have to look at the two other actors who have played him in live action blockbusters in the last 20 years and not go to the rumoured back in day casting archives.

Personally I hope they don't do it. He might have made a good Iron Man if the movie was made 10 years earlier but I'd rather there wasn't another live action version of Tony Stark that looks vaguely similar to RDJs version even 2-3 years after is sacrifice. Next thing you know there will be rumours of a Tom Cruise as Iron Man on a different earth in the multiverse movie.

I also hope Wanda isn't a villain or even the main antagonist. I'd rather have them develop her along the path she was already on, especially if that means showing up in more films. I suppose she could be a "Tony in CW" type antagonist but that's all I'd want. Even a multi verse evil Wanda is a bit of a retread from AOU though.

If that’s the case I wonder if we’ll get a variation of this:

But as the opposite though.

It depends. Arrowverse brought a lot of previous stuff back for Crisis.
Warner Brothers could take a step further and use stuff that never ended up on finished films. Like the rumour with Nicholas Cage's Superman.
Marvel could do something similar now. The Cruise rumour is pointing towards it. And that wasn't even a project like Tim Burton's (weird) take on Man of Steele was.
Cameron's Spidey had a script, and he wanted DiCaprio.

Any rumors on any connection to Shang Chi with this film?

Odd I know.

But... Anything like that?

Jim Carey as Nightmare or Mephisto.
He can do serious roles and be the kind of maniac villain as well, that Mephisto or Nightmare should be

What do you think about this 4chan leaks?
>Doctor Strange, Scarlet Witch, Mordo, Wong and the Ancient One return. The new characters are Clea, Jericho Drumm, America Chavez, Cagliostro, Nightmare and Shuma-Gorath.

>Shuma-Gorath is an ancient entity that feeds off people’s fear and wants to use America Chavez, a young girl who can create portals between universes, as a vessel to spread madness and consume the Multiverse. Nightmare is Shuma-Gorath’s shapeshifting, mindbending enforcer who is sent to capture America.

>Doctor Strange and Wong rescue America and assemble a team to protect her, formed by Scarlet Witch, Mordo, Clea and Drumm. Scarlet Witch is learning how to control her powers with Strange. Clea is the Ancient One’s estranged daughter born with a connection to the Dark Dimension. Drumm is a powerful voodoo witch doctor and former student at Kamar-Taj.

>Strange’s plan is to contact the spirit of Cagliostro, the sorcerer who originally defeated Shuma-Gorath, and learn how to reproduce his ritual. Mordo decides that Strange’s plan is too dangerous, goes rogue and sets out to kill America before Shuma-Gorath can get to her.

>The final battle happens in Shuma-Gorath’s realm of dead universes populated by physical manifestations of people’s worst fears and nightmares.

>Benedict Cumberbatch, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Elizabeth Olsen, Benedict Wong and Tilda Swinton are returning. Xochitl Gomez is cast as America Chavez and Daveed Diggs is cast as Jericho Drumm. Bruce Campbell will play Doctor Druid, the sorcerer supreme of a parallel universe, in a small comedic role.

>Jeremy Irons has been approached for Cagliostro. Charlize Theron passed on Clea, so Vanessa Kirby and Jodie Comer are the current frontrunners for Clea. Nicholas Hoult is in early talks for Nightmare after Adam Driver turned it down.

Coool :)
I like that a lot!

What about Evan Peters? Was his involvement only a rumour?

Edited to hide a spoiler :)

With any leaks, take it with a grain of salt. But this particular leak seems a bit more possible than others I've seen. Like
Bruce Campbell as Doctor Druid
seems like such a left field idea, that I could see that being real.

Maybe it's just me, but could we put leaks/potential rumors inside spoiler tags? Just in the event that *some* of them might be true, there are those of us that don't want to be inadvertently spoiled?

No worries, I edited my post. ileg01 if you don't mind doing the same
