X-Men - Part 8

I thought Mutants were becoming pretty powerful in DoX and then S.W.O.R.D. #1 comes around. Reign of X indeed. Also: It's always good to see
Blink

Marauders felt like overkill though.

X-Force had some decent moments, but Vita Ayala's New Mutants #14 was amazing in particular. Also, looking forward to getting an issue from the flagship title next week.

X-Force and Maraurders just arent working anymore and need an overhaul like New Mutants got. They are remnants of Dawn of X, which dont fit in the next phase, Reign of X. Percy and Duggan arent doing anything new or exciting and the books fill like filler

SWORD, was amazing. Much better than expected. I wasnt expecting the cast to be as expansive and hope Ewing can deliver

Why is Sword not listed in the December X-Men check list? I don't count it as a X title but I thought it was part of the X-Men comiXs line up right now.

Marauders felt like they just weren't able to release the last issue before XoS so I'll wait until the next one to judge. X-Force does feel a bit out of place, though I'm hoping they'll continue to explore the darker side of Krakoa. They just need a bit of a rework.

It's listed Between X-Factor #5 and Marauders #16 on all the checklists I've seen. :)

SWORD is an X-title and is in the list

They really should have put these issues out before XOS adn start off brand new for ROX. I hope we are onto new stuff but I dont have much hope

Yeah, looking at the original schedule that was probably the plan, but it feels a bit off. With Marauders as I said, I'll hold my judgment until the next issue though.

I hope we are onto new stuff but I dont have much hope
Fingers crossed. If New Mutants, arguably the second messiest book of DoX can do it then any book can tbh.

SWORD was phenomenal and Ayala gave New Mutants the direction it should have had from the start. With those books and Hellions, X-Factor, and Cable, RoX has some strong new additions. These really great comics sour me a bit on X-Force. Marauders needs a new direction now that Kate Pryde's image has been salvaged after years of bad writing before DoX.

Now that the new x-men characters are mostly returned, I hope that some of the overlooked get to develop power and personality-wise.

I could see Network looking to Sage as a mentor. I know that she has a lot of competition with the intro of Trinary. So it could be useful to nail down the range of her powers.

Maybe some explanation for DJ's powers. He has several different energy attacks. Maybe Rogue, Mimic, Synch, or someone like Magneto could show him how to best utilize them.

Someone like Domino or Gorgon (everyone forgets that he can telepathically predict attacks) showing Preview how to use her powers offensively. She needs to shake her reluctance to engage. She could be a great field leader with the proper confidence boost.

Kidogo comes from a warrior culture. So maybe someone like Callisto or Storm (the Kenyan connection) could train him how to use knives. Or there's the other route of becoming a swashbuckler type under Nightcrawler's tutelage.

I could see Iceman actively instructing Rain Boy. He seems like a potential powerhouse.

So glad for this New Mutants book.

I'm liking most of those titles. Not a fan of x-force's art or choice of villains. Marauders was derailed for a bit. I'm still onboard simply to see what Pyro and Shinobi are up to. Fenris hasn't officially entered the game either. Hellions at least has the unpredictability factor. Sinister is vampire than usual. But that covers for Havok having no real direction. Great to see Nanny get any kind of spotlight. She's so...odd.

Havok does have direction. They are going more into his inversion and the fallout.

Catching back up.

Excalibur was fun. I like having the Braddock family as a whole back into focus. I like Meggan joining up with the team. I will miss Apocalypse, sure, but I think as long as Brian and Meggan stick around as main cast members, it will be a good Excalibur book.

New Mutants was good. Art is great. And man, Gabby's question really hurt. Good to see the Maddie decision having some fallout with regards to Gabby, Laura, and Evan. Though damn, did not realize Evan was dead. Also, did not realize that the Shadow King is kind of separate from Amahl Farouk. So, that could be interesting to see how that plays out.

Sword was great. I love the cast. And I love some of what they are doing. Kind of wish it was Unuscione instead of Armor as part of the six, for a full on Acolyte book. I do like the tension between the ruler of the Kree/Skrulls over the mutants' hatred of Wanda. I especially loved seeing the interaction between Cortez and Magneto. Fabien has grown very pathetic. Also, just started reading Inferno again, so fun to see Wiz Kid again.

And I love the new status quo X-men sets up. God, I want a book dealing with Arrakko dealing with returning to earth. And the reaction to Arrakko. Good to see Isca sticking with Arakko, instead of joining the family in Amenth. With so many of the cast of X of Swords being External, it will be fun to see mutants who have never seen a human before. So many great possibilities. Arrakko's reaction to Sentinels is going to be something... I also love Cyke and Jean fighting for keeping the X-men separate from a Krakoa military. And the idea of elections to the X-men is cool.

As a citiXen of Krakoa, I'm voting for

Cyclops
Cecilia Reyes
Angel
Multiple Man
M
Marrow
Banshee
Dazzler
Sunfire

I would vote for Polaris, Capt. Britain, Rogue, Gambit and Sage but they are already appearing in other books right now.

Havok does have direction. They are going more into his inversion.

A lot of characters were inverted. If they are choosing to single out Alex, it's because they don't know what else to do with him. He's had heel turns prior to Axis. And it seems odd that they would revisit this period of his life after going out of the way to ignore him kidnapping the Wasp.

I mean, Alex is the only inversion that kind of stuck. Which is a pity, and I do miss Remender.

I'm in for a Nightcralwer lead book. I really liked the image of the other preview page of Charles looking at pictures of his three kids.

I HATE that cover. But the interior art looks great. And I loathe that they made Nightcrawler lose his faith and now he's just inventing a new religion. But Kurt is my Mutant Numero Uno, so I'm obligated to pick this up. Also good to see Dr. Nemesis back again.

Though, once again I have to ask: Where the heck is Idie/Oya? As another famously religious mutant, you'd think she'd show up here, but as far as I know, she's still MIA?

Thanks. Glad she isn't COMPLETELY forgotten. But wow, the ages really are all over the place now. She looks older than some of the New Mutants, here!

Im voting for Banshee, Polaris, Armor and Marrow

Feral, Tempo - eh, this decade really need to get rid of random one and done members. Last decade, we had Trinary, Warbird, Blink and Gentle to name a few. They never rejoined the team as of right now. Though the 2010s was much better than the 2000s in terms of new members.

Boom Boom, Sunspot, Cannonball were X-Men before so them joining again would eXtend their history as members.

Strong Guy is fine to me.

Really like the election thing and I actually ended up voting for Boom-Boom. I'd like more Armor in New Mutants; Polaris and Forge are good where they are in X-Factor and X-Force. The rest are characters I don't necessarily need on an X-Men team. The build-up for the new X-Men team has been done extremely well so far.

X-Men #17 and Wolverine #9 were enjoyable. Excalibur honestly continues to underwhelm. I figured they'd at least use the new and improved version of Otherworld, but so far nada. New Mutants relaunch on the other hand continues to be very dense and packed. Strongest Reign of X book so far imo.

S.W.O.R.D. is probably going to be awesome long-term as well, but they got hijacked for crossover stuff right away.

I can't vote for some reason but I was gonna vote for Marrow.

Obviously, the lesser known characters aren't going to get the majority of the votes. So Boom Boom, Tempo, Sunspot and Strong Guy are probably out of the running. Marrow as well.

Though I wonder if this voting even affects the other characters. Some of these ten could have been decided by Marvel to join the new status quo already. And this online poll could just be something eXtra for the fans.
