The Marvels: News and General Discussion thread

so with Black Panther 2 taking the July spot... where did CM2 go?

Black Panther,' 'Captain Marvel' Sequels Get New Release Dates - Variety

Disney has again overhauled its theatrical release calendar, shifting around dates for “Black Panther 2,” “Captain Marvel 2,” “Thor: Love and Thunder” and numerous other titles.

The studio announced some of these changes at Thursday’s investor day, a four-hour-long presentation that charted Disney’s streaming and theatrical plans for the foreseeable future.

From Marvel, “Thor: Love and Thunder” will open on May 6, 2022, instead of Feb. 11. That delay bumps the “Black Panther” sequel — originally set for May 6, 2022 — to July 8, 2022. In turn, “Captain Marvel 2” was pushed off that July date and was moved to Nov. 11, 2022.

All this time I thought she was just staying away from Twitter but they were keeping this woman silent for all these months for no reason at all as it's just been accepted as common knowledge that she was directing. Damn, Marvel. Cold. :funny:

I hope that their MCU roles are what Teyonah Parris and Iman Vellani will be most known for, especially for Teyonah. She's a good actress and her three best roles were in Dear White People, Chi-Raq and If Beale Street Could Talk. However she's best known as "The black girl from Mad Men" and I hope her role as Monica Rambeau changes that. I hope it comes to a point where people recognize both ladies best for their roles in the MCU, especially if both become fan favorites. I look at Mark Ruffalo as an example. Before he played Hulk he was one of those actors I had recognized in other movies, but I didn't know his name. But since he's played The Hulk, whenever I see him now out of the MCU, I say "oh hey, Mark Ruffalo is in this! cool!" Same with the late Chadwick Boseman. I had seen him in a bunch of things in movies and TV before he was Black Panther, but I didn't know who he was until he played Jackie Robinson in "42" and then I had forgotten his name until I saw him announced as Black Panther and I was like "that's the guy who played Jackie Robinson in 42!"

Now I knew who Teyonah was before she was cast as Monica. But I want to come to a point in a few years that when I see her in a non-MCU movie in a few years (while still playing Monica) to be seeing her name in the credits and know that she's Monica Rambeau in the MCU rather than "the black girl from Mad Men." I look at it more like RDJ, Cheadle, Mackie, Renner, Scar Jo, SLJ, Evans and Pratt. I knew who they were before they were in the MCU but since the MCU, their MCU role is what I know them best from. With Iman, I hope she gets recognized for playing Kamala Khan even in Non-MCU movies (in the future "Ms. Marvel star.")

Yep, and pretty sure that will happen for both of them.

Maybe they should call this film "Captain Marvel Too" referring to Monica Rambeau. I guess she will probably go by Photon though.

If you’re watching WandaVision, you’d know why...

I can't wait to see how she would handle these characters in the sequel.

Yeah me too. I’m loving Monica in wandavision but I really want to see her take centre stage and not as like, black Carol hopefully

Well, based on the latest WandaVision, it looks like
Carol and Monica won't be on good terms in the present day. I'm guessing it'll be because Carol wasn't there for Maria when she was sick.

They better
address this on CM2. :waa:

I'm pretty sure the villain is Moonstone since look at who already exists in the MCU

Baron Zemo, Bullseye, Ghost, Shocker, Scorpion, Leader, Winter Soldier, General Ross, Taskmaster and Yelena Belova. Looks like T-Bolts is going to be a thing to me. Songbird and Abe Jenkins are the only ones missing but I expect Abe to appear in Armor Wars.

So Carol is able to take him on all by herself now? After he killed all the Avengers and Guardians of the Galaxy singlehandedly in the comics except for Thor, Iron Man, Vision and Wonder Man (who were all killed off by Carina afterwards apart from Thor)? Even Carol herself was made swift work of by Korvac.

It's like Daisy Johnson being able to fight Graviton all on her own in Agents of SHIELD.

A) We don't know that and B) Carol will have both Photon and Ms. Marvel in the sequel.

They must be seriously nerfing Korvac then because he killed the likes of Carol and other Avengers with a single blast. He was a Thanos level threat.

Are you talking about Korvac as he originally appeared or after he got the power cosmic from Galactus? The Korvac of the Korvac Saga was obviously super powerful, but the character existed prior to that point too.
