Birds of Prey Birds of Prey General Discussion and Speculation

I don't think Harley's SS costume is inherently bad. The problem comes with Ayer's camera practically leering at her throughout the film. Hell, both SS and BOP had her in a wet t-shirt at one time. The male gaze argument does not necessarily have to do with costumes, but how the camera frames the actor. And a good example of that is Black Widow. Rewatching Iron Man 2 is kind of embarrassing.

The costume wouldnt be as bad if the "shorts" actually had some length to them and she wasn't in stilettos. They could've added an inch or two to the shorts and still look fine.

I'm not one to go all male gazey complainer (though as a Christian, I understand sexualization is wrong), but also, I see no real reason why they didn't give her a more comic-y costume, with some alterations. The costume in The Suicide Squad images, to me, pretty much shows that it can be done. Why go to all the trouble of the other thing?

I never had an issue with her film costumes so far. I think her Suicide Squad (2016) was better than her BOP outfit, but with that being said, her costume in James Gunns The Suicide Squad is without question the best so far and definitely proves the iconic colors and look can be done without having to resort to butt shots. I seriously can't wait till we get another look at her upcoming outfit because I was grinning from ear to ear when I saw it. as was Paul Dini!

To be fair, it’s her Suicide Squad costume that became iconic. Her entire look. And I don’t mean guys leering, but it became the Halloween costume go-to for a lot of women.

Ayer definitely gave us his pov gaze when it comes to HQ. I of course dug his pov, especially with Margot in the role. lol Is it sexist? Absolutely. Her Ayer look has become a sorta of a pop culture classic tho, from versions of it in the comics, cartoon, cosplay and even wrestling etc. Beyonce dressed up as HQ for halloween that year and it was Ayer's look.

Oops. Point already made.

I’m sure if the outfit was something different, it would have still been a halloween outfit. It’s more that Harley made it into live action than the outfit itself.

Im so mad. I ordered the steelbook from BB during Blackfriday and just got around to opening it...and its broke.

Ugh, sorry, I’ve had that happen to me before too. ****ing annoying. Now I always open my blu-rays as soon as I buy them even if I don’t intend to watch them anytime soon, just to make sure all is correct. You live and learn, I guess.

Still hoping we'll get some kind of BOP sequel or hbomax series

Still dreaming of Leslie Grace leading the BoP one day. :argh:

...rewatched this last week; honestly the best overall DCEU film (even though that's not saying much).

Did people really complain about Harley getting in the police station as too unrealistic, so it isn't good?
