Sequels Deadline: Captain America Eyes Return To The MCU

EXCLUSIVE: In a move that is sure to rock the Marvel Cinematic Universe, sources tell Deadline that Chris Evans is cleaning the dust off his Captain America attire as he expected reprise the role in the MCU in some form. Still vague if deal as completely closed but insiders say its headed in that direction for Evans to return as Steve Rogers aka Captain America in at least one Marvel property with the door open for a second film. Sources add it’s unlikely to be a new Captain America installment and more likely to be like what Robert Downey Jr. did after Iron Man 3, appearing in films like Captain America: Civil War and Spider-Man: Homecoming.

My first thought was Secret Invasion. It allows them to keep the character intact from Endgame and it allows Chris to possibly play a Skrull version of Cap, like in EMH.

For me he was the best thing about the MCU (and a real revelation), but I'm torn. I don't think he could ever have a better send-off than the one he had.

I'm not happy about this. I wanted to see Sam and Bucky take turns as Cap and then have a new actor cast.

Same goes with how I dislike the RDJ Ironheart rumors. They need to let somebody new take over the role.

I get why recasting Boseman too soon would be disrespectful but these are different circumstances. I also hope that Ryan Reynolds is the only X-Men character they don't recast. I want to see new takes.

It's too early into these negotiations to make such statements.

We know no details about his new signing. It could be Rogers as a skrull, it could be Steve as a supporting character in an upcoming film, or it could even be a prequel film set between him reuniting with Peggy and his end scene in Endgame.

Could even be a film about his returning of the stones and somehow meeting the organisation that Loki will be captured by in his series, to somehow negotiate with them his staying in the past.

Let's wait and see.

I guess it ends some cameo in Doctor Strange 2 as Johnny or even Captain Hydra.

I think the emphasis is on the fact that Sam IS Captain America. Evans could still be Steve Rogers, but he won't be Captain America.

I do want to see him run into Johnny Storm at some point though.
