Guardians of the Galaxy Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3: General Discussion & Speculation Thread

From my impressions of the characters on film, they're all extreme hetero's.

Mantis is the only one perhaps that is bi but the writers can say whatever they want retroactively.

Whether this makes sense for the character I think is a leap the reader or viewer will have to make and whether or not this is the right choice for depiction/representation from a theatrical standpoint is the creator's choice.

Because the guys dont wear pink and the women dont wear male suits? :p
No offense ;)

But I doubt we will ever see this on live action. Mantis/Drax romantic elements are already teased, Peter will still search for Gamora, love life for Groot or Rocket would be wierd (at least for me). Maybe Nebula but I doubt we introduce another supporting character for a supporting character. And we will get LGTB in Eternals.

To be fair... I would love to see religious Pratt to struggle with that plot element but I can imagine he is not willing to shoot something like this.

seeing how Star-Lords never even been with a member of his own species, I don't see why he would have a hang up about gender...

I mean, some of the alien "Women" that he's always getting with, probably don't even classify as female by human standards... who knows whats going on with the anatomy with these aliens

Those with outward human like appearance all have the same anatomy just as they all speak English.

Agreed on Peter probably not being with men in the MCU. I don't think Mantis/Drax has been romantic at all though. I'm sure they'll continue to become closer to each other, but I feel like it's more a friendship/chosen family thing.

In fact, I wonder if they might take some elements from Moondragon and put them into Mantis.
- The two characters have relatively similar powersets, so it may feel redundant to have both
- Mantis (who grew up without real parents) becoming like Drax's (who lost his daughter) foster daughter allows that kind of relationship to be shown without ever seeing Drax' real daughter
- Gunn had hinted that Quasar would be in the next one (along with Adam). If this is indeed the case it might make sense to pair Mantis and Quasar as to have an LGBTQIA+ relationship without having to introduce yet another character for Phyla to be in a relationship with.
- Having Mantis take on any of those roles would make it so that Heather Kamaria doesn't need to be resurrected/miraculously survive Ronan.

This might be a bit controversial among hardcore fans, but the comic versions of these characters aren't the most well known so I could see them going with something like this for convenience.

Has there been any recent indication of who the villain is? Is the High Evolutionary thing still going around

It’s quite possible Adam starts out as a villain before teaming up with the Guardians to fight another villain like High Evolutionary.

Rather than linking a garbage website like the Independent, we can just post Gunn's tweet.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and assume that was Perlmutter.

I might be wrong, but maybe I'm not. :o

It would be bizarre hearing Bradley Cooper's normal speaking voice coming out of Rocket. He's a talking raccoon, an exaggerated accent sells it.

James Gunn confirmed that we wont see adult Groot again. This makes me very upset as I really wanted to see a strong, powerful, prime Groot.

he just said the Groot from GotG vol. 1. Pretty sure we‘ll se adult Groot, that is a spawn of the original Groot

I think we'll see a young-adult version of Groot in Vol. 3, closer to the original Groot than Teen Groot. I have no evidence of this, but I'm guessing they're gonna make it grow a bit more. Gotta sell those new toys!

I bet, the kinda original Groot form/size will be in Thor 4 nd probably the Christmas special. Then ther‘ll be Alpha Groot who will probably be like Treebeard from Lord of the Rings

Eh. I don't see why James would lie, but considering they're getting ready to start filming Vol 3 later this year and Adam Warlock is going to be in it, it's not far fetched to believe they're casting the part soon.
