'The Last of Us' HBO Series

Has he said he can’t grow a beard or are people just saying he can’t because of the way his GoT character looked? Because Oberyn was a stylish guy and maybe he just shaved his beard in that way because it looked good.

He's talking about it a little bit at 4:15

I don't think an actor not being able to grow a full beard really matter as they can always place an artificial one on that looks just as good as a real one. And technically this show will start up an entirely new Last of Us universe and characters don't necessarily need to look exactly the same as they do in the game

Yeah I mean, as long as he’s not clean shaven (since no one would be in an apocalypse) I think it will be fine.

Yep. Just like if they ever get around to casting Abby I am sure she won't be as buff as she was in the game as it would be hard to find an actress who would be that buff and also her buffness in the game was just a way to show how obsessed she had become with getting revenge on her dad's murderer.

Man, just done the Ellie Winter solo parts in the game, not only are they damn hard in the game, especially in the factory with the clickers, but they could also be terrifying done the right way in the show.

As much as I love these games I have serious doubts about this as a series. The potential is there but video game adaptations rarely live up to their potential.

Yeah just looking at the creative team behind this especially the directors they got so far, this is setting up to be another flagship show for HBO and HBO Max.

There are certainly more reasons to be optimistic here than we normally get with video game adaptations. Just look next door to see what they’re doing with Uncharted lol.

Ever since I saw the movie I was hoping these guys would get The Last of Us. It's the aesthetic I hope they are going for:

The ending is the opposite of crap but you do you, I guess.

I apologise. Crap is too harsh a word to describe that ending, it just felt to me that it ending felt completely wrong compared to the general tone and feel of the rest the the film.

I'd love for Last of Us to have a widescreen Fincher aesthetic.

Yes, still dreaming about that WWZ Fincher movie.

So do you think in the tv show they should travel cross country with a whole group of people and not just simply Joel and Ellie? Strictly having those two worked in the game because much of the game was spent in gameplay. However with gameplay not being a thing for the tv show I think it might be a little far fetched to believe one guy and a teenage girl would be able to go clear across the country mainly by themselves.

I'm thinking instead of Tess dying early on she could potentially go on the trip with them and potentially a handful of characters new to the tv show could go as well. I think it would be better for the show anyways to allow the audience to get to know a whole group of people instead of strictly just two.

HBO's adaptation of the hit video game series The Last of Us will begin production in Calgary this July, according to the Director's Guild of Canada.

The guild lists The Last of Us — which will star Pedro Pascal of The Mandalorian and Bella Ramsey of Game of Thrones — as starting production in the province on July 5, and wrapping up on June 8, 2022.

Calgary's union for film and stage technicians, the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE 212), also lists the series as being scheduled for production this July.

Going by his work in Agents of Shield, I think he’s actually pretty good for this role. He’s really good at capturing that soft spoken, weary and well-meaning demeanor. Really looking forward to seeing how he plays against Pedro Pascal.

I don't have a problem with his casting either.

They better not recast Bill if he is in this show. W. Earl Brown was perfect for that character.
