They have at last officially announced the game after the accidental leak earlier in the year.

It will be the first in a trilogy so two more stand alones plus additional content.

The valiant Karl Franz marshals the men of the Empire, seeking to unite the fractured elector counts under a banner of strength against their common enemies.
Hungry for the vicious brutality of combat, the Greenskins flock to the tribe of Grimgor Ironhide; Orcs and Goblins alike filled with an insatiable thirst for carnage.
High King Thorgrim orders the stoic Dwarfs forth from their mountain strongholds, marching to vengefully right the grave injustices dealt to them over the millennia.
Yet the motives of the Vampire Counts under Mannfred von Carstien are shrouded in murderous secrecy, his armies raised from the rotting ranks of the dead.
And while the Old World becomes torn by betrayal, war and the unleashing of unfathomable power, a greater threat still whispers in the winds from the north. The fabric of reality itself begins to rend and buckle…

Wow, I only found out that this game was being made earlier today! What a combination. This is a dream for me. Hope my favourite factions make it into the game.
 
From the sound of things the starting factions will be Empire, Dwarf, Orc and Undead, with Chaos in the wings.
 
Should be called Total WarHAMMER.

Cool. Love Chaos & Undead will be fun. I hope we get Lizard-Men down the line.

The game looks amazing and with almost unlimited potential for expansion in terms of factions. I wonder what features from previous titles will make an appearance. I've read that direct confederation is possible in this one where you absorb another faction peacefully, which sounds cool and I've certainly had cases in previous TW games where I wished it was an option.

The last of this series I played was Shogun 2 (I heard Rome 2 was flawed) and that was a great game especially systems like diamyo honor and loyalty of generals. Two favorite things about that one, on the strategic side, were: the liberation option for provinces which let me set up vassals while increasing honor, and the total victory objective in Fall of the Samurai which jacked up the difficulty of the end game.

The Holds system is an interesting idea, though I think orcs should get to occupy human towns as well, and some of their regions (like the flat areas of the Badlands) should not be done as Holds. It would make the objectives for the dwarfs even harder if the orcs had territories which cannot be occupied by the dwarf army. I certainly like the idea of some regions simply not being suitable for certain groups, they can march through and sack but not set up new bases of operations.
 
Total War: Warhammer 2 is out soon (and integrates with the first game). It adds Lizardmen, High Elves, Dark Elves and Skaven. 4 classes I really wanted!
 
I look forward to seeing how differently this plays on an upgraded setup (that I am planning to get). Also I hope there is more to come from this series down the road. Did it sell well?

Absorbing another faction to have them fight with you in future? That sounds awesome. Something I've always wanted!
 
Apparently we'll get a gameplay reveal for Total War: Warhammer 3 on 13th May (next Thursday).
 
Been really enjoying TW:W2. Will likely play all the expansions eventually. Also hope 3 is a good upgrade again.
 
I remember loving Shadow of the Horned Rat and Dark Omen as a kid in 90s. Glad Fantasy Battle got a new life in Total War series.

Yes, this has been a big dream for me. I wish this could have turned into a perpetual series as it's pretty much my favourite material for RTS/conquest type games.

I love my RTS games and this is my most wanted pc game being a big fan of Total War, Warhammer and fantasy battles in general. And now it’s free! :D

Yep, strong on metacritic too. I expected it to be great after the first 2. Look forward to installing this asap.
 
Forgot I had it ready with preinstall so could dive right in. Haven’t had much time to really get far into it but like what I’ve seen so far.
