Black Panther: Wakanda Forever General Discussion and Speculation Thread

I'm getting the feeling the focus of this film will be about Wakanda and not about the actual Black Panther mantle. I wouldn't be shocked to see them focus heavily on the period between the Blip and Endgame just so they're not having to deal with T'Challa's future right away. I don't see the point in completely shelving T'Challa permanently so hopefully they use this as a breather in the franchise for the cast/crew to continue processing Boseman's death and come up with a better way to carry the character of T'Challa on.

This is what I think as well. I think in Feige and Co's minds, its too soon to deal with the T'Challa issue.

Even if they had the mantle to Shuri or do something like "kill" the T'Challa character, they're going to come to the realization that they need that character in The MCU , and the character will be recast or brought back another way.

T'Challa will be Black Panther again one day. In my mind that's inevitable, whether that's in BP3 or a decade from now.

Right now , there's still alot of emotions involved since Chadwick was a friend to the producers as well , so they're emotional invested as well.

I think the best option is to just move forward with Shuri taking the mantle, and MAYBE by time BP3 is ready (or if) then we all will be more ready to recast T'Challa or let Shuri end the trilogy (or duology)

W’Kabi could also have a redemption arc and possibly become The Black Panther.

Maximize the talents of Academy Award Winner Daniel Kaluuya in a bigger role.

In all honesty, I wish they hadn’t cast Kaluuya as the backstabbing friend in BP. It’s kind of a throwaway role. Kaluuya should have (IMO) been saved for a better role that made better use of his abilities. Of course, he wasn’t as big of a star back when he was cast but it’s still a bit disappointing that we won’t see him as more prominent MCU character. I guess they could make W’Kabi a bigger character in this movie and beyond but I don’t know that I would want to see that since he betrayed T’Challa and Wakanda.

He was like the husband who cooks and cleans the house, while his wife is on adventures with her Dora Milaje

I've heard a theory that he could be some sort of Black Panther type in a future incarnation of the Thunderbolts. I don't think that would ever work though.

Yeah seen that too- they can claim a lot of things, if they made up their own sources.
Also I wouldn’t believed him much if it was Mickey Sutton, who Everting Always claims has a strong track record...which he doesn’t

Good to see Martin Freeman coming back as the Tolkein White Guy.

I really don't want Shuri as BP. I'm rooting so much for Okoye. Or, at least, Nakia.

If it was Namor, that was probably the plan had Chadwick lived. Now, I don't know. With Fantastic Four coming, it might be Dr. Doom instead. However, Tenoch Huerta from Narcos Mexico was cast in an unknown role in this movie, and he was announced by the Hollywood Reporter in November 2020, a few months after Chadwick's passing to play the villain:

So I don't know.

Is the situation with Namor's rights similar with Hulk's, in that Marvel can't make a movie with him as the hero but can use him as a supporting character in someone else's movie?

I want to see Lupita take the reigns of the franchise.

Ditto; I think she or Danai Gurira make the most sense both in-universe and in real life.

It might've shifted a bit recently, but more or less yes as far as I'm aware.

Danai Gurira is awesome but from a name recognition standpoint and the fact that she can no longer be relegated to the love interest role, I think Lupita has the best shot at the lead role.

Okoje is very prominent here...that sure has to mean something

Namor as the primary antagonist with Doom pulling the strings would be sooooooo ****ing clutch.

Interesting casting if true.

Apparently he's in the new Purge movie as well.

I would far prefer an Asian Namor. Someone like Ian Anthony Dale would be ideal.

He can look heroic:

But can also look completely smug and arrogant as Namor should:

Even without makeup or point ears he already looks like the Prince of Atlantis.

Why does Namor needs to be asian? Because he looks that way?
I would‘ve preferred Rami Malek for that role, but if they make Antlantis some kind of Mayan fallen kingdom, it‘ll be awesome.
Tenoch Huerta is not the actor, I would‘ve wanted for this, but the setting could be cool
