We'll get a few more Shang Chi trailers (hopefully with more speaking lines for him) in the next few months ahead.

They literally released a full trailer only two weeks ago, on top of the new little snippets in this new video. What more do you want? The entire film? ‘Cause we’re still not getting that until September.

That new video isn't even a trailer. And Shang Chi ended that sizzle reel.

i'm spoiled. i want it now. lol

This is much better than anything in Crouching Tiger. Jackie Chan still manages to be the underdog but is also completely competent and displays insane abilities and survival skills. I wish Marvel looked to him for the fight and stunt choreography for Shang Chi.

Also this fight would never have been as good against both villains if Jackie Chan could simply clone himself.

I love that end fight from WHO AM I (the film itself is awful), but you can't say it's better than this fight from CROUCHING TIGER, HIDDEN DRAGON.

Yuen Wo Ping at his best. Expert camera work, staging and direction. Choreography as storytelling - character development effortlessly delivered through action. Amazing weapon work. Stunning production design. It's a masterpiece.

I could delve further into Yuen Wo Ping's Hong Kong work, but The Matrix: Reloaded's chateau fight is up there with the best stuff he's ever done.

Yeah I miss Yuen Wo Ping action scenes. Still unmatched even now

Well that's because we are speaking just from a pure martial art point of view ( or at least I am).Crouching Tiger wasn't terrible or anything , was just ok. You can tell they do not have any background in MA. I believe Zhang Ziyi was like a dancer or something. I think some of the better shots are from a stunt double. I'm not saying they did a terrible job, just not a wow performance.

As for the Matrix , as good as the trilogy was, the MA is like the worst thing about the movie. Keanu Reeves and Laurence Fishburne were like so slow and wooden and awkward. I remember there was this scene where Keanu held a side kick in the air ( like what Van Damme likes to do ) , they had to like shoot it from an angle to make it seem his leg was higher because it was just so low. That was so bad and cringey.

As highly respected Yuen Woo Ping is it's not just about the choreographer but the execution and capabilities of the cast as well. Some people like to look at CGI etc ( they are able to tell what's good or bad CGI ). For me I like to look at hand to hand combat , not just the spectacular flying kicks but how natural they move , how they dodge, the speed etc.

Things like this beats CT and the matrix. Especially that female master. The way she moves is so natural. Graceful yet powerful. Fun fact , she's the girl doing that snake thing in the temple in the Karate Kid 2010.

For weapons fight this Donnie Yen and Wu Jing fight takes the cake for me. A lot more engaging imo.

I can and I have and I did.

As I mentioned before, I never found ANYTHING in Crouching Tiger or in House of Flying Daggers to be better or more entertaining than any of the classic martial arts films. When I see people on wires, I am not impressed because what I'm seeing are these people being aided by the wires to do aerial balletic moves rather than skilled fighting.

I would rather watch the end fight of Drunken Master any day than anything in Crouching Tiger.

This pretty much sums up my thoughts when I see films like Crouching Tiger or House of Flying Daggers.

Whenever Jet Li has relied more on wires in some of his films I also groan because he doesn't need that at all. I prefer his films where he doesn't use any of that whatsoever but just demonstrates his skill.

Interesting look on how some fight scenes are filmed in HK , when you have a strong background in MA you can just choreograph or make adjustments on set.

What have you studied?

Taekwondo, why do you ask?

Enjoy. Go hog wild.

2: If someone makes a claim to some kind of martial arts knowledge that is something that prolly should be backed up in some way, no? I don't think it's insulting or degrading after someone makes such a claim to ask upon what they based their opinions on, no?

Which brings us to something...

I've studied Jeet Kune Do Concepts, Filipino Martial Arts, Jun Fan Kickboxing, Integrated Grappling, and been exposed to everything from Muay Thai and boxing to Wing Chun and BJJ.

And yet... I don't agree with the quality of the fight choreography you say is not present in the movies being talked about.

But that's the thing about opinions, no?

So....when someone says they don't like how zombies move or the way superman flies is so fake then they need to have real life experience with zombies and actual flying? You know this is the movie section right? None of it is real including the martial art , doesn't mean we can't discuss what we prefer or don't prefer in a fantasy like fight.

And thanks for sharing you resume and opinion on the matter. I will stay in the movie section since my interest is only in movie martial arts.

Interesting that you have made the choice to take offense.

Also interesting is that you are comparing something that we have in actual reality, "martial arts" and are choosing to compare it to "zombies, super powers ect."

Which isn't to say that fight choreography and especially in the films discussed, doesn't have very strong "movie/fantasy" elements (depending on the film of course. Warrior or say the duel in Rob Roy are movies and scenes definitely going for a different level of screen "reality" than a Jackie Chan film from the 1980's.) present in some form or another. Perfect footwork, perfect landing of blows and the like which... Doesn't happen in a real fight.

Still... The "hot take" that some of the most celebrated films featuring martial arts of the last 30 years are just "okay" is gonna get pushback, and despite what we are told... No... Not all opinions are equal. You are more than welcome to express yourself. No one is stopping you. But... Dude... You gonna get asked what your criteria is and how and why you came by said opinion or opinions. (Especially if someone, like myself has direct firsthand knowledge of the subject under discussion.)

It isn't rocket science.

Then what you should have said is " Hey I disagree and I feel xxxx movie that you link are not very good and here are the reasons why" or "Hey I don't think I agree with you , why do you feel this way about xxx movie" or something along those lines. Why is there any need for you to know any credentials as if we need your approval of some sort to make a comment? Does everyone need to give a link to their IMDB profile if they want to make a comment about acting or cinematography or directing etc? And you already said it yourself , the fights are fake just like monsters and powers. I want to compare it on the basis that it's all fake.

Did I complain that you can't pushback or something? Say you feel the movies I link are a total pile of crap if you want to. It's your condescending manner that is the problem.

I assume that Shang Chi and Eternals will like BW will get both theatrical releases and Premiere Access. The development here shows, that even vaccinated, people still have to wear masks in rooms and hold security distance. Vaccinated only means people won‘t get ill, they remain infectious.
Cinemas will run for many months with 25-50% capacity so that people have 1-2 seats between other people.
And btw In Germany people like me, will get that shot at earliest in September...

It's been confirmed Shang-Chi will have an exclusive theatrical window, which I personally think is for the best.

That could be the case for you but quite a few states in the U.S. are fully re-opening and come September, even more so. Let alone November when Eternals is scheduled to release.

fully reopen in the US means people sitting there without distance and masks?
