The Marvels: News and General Discussion thread

I dunno. Would they cast a Korean actor as Annette Bening's kid? I assumed we would get either Genis or Phyla in the film, but I would be surprised if Mr. Seo-Joon ended up being Mar-Vell's boy.

Looking up Park Seo Joon on YouTube in regards to English and I didn't find much. Apparently, he speaks some English but not enough, so the press tour could be interesting as well as his dialogue in the movie if it's a significant role.

He’ll be fine. English isn’t even that big a deal. I speak it like, all the time and no ones ever been impressed by it.

some peeps are saying he might be Amadeus but again, slightly too old. Unless they age him up which might be fun

So does the same rule apply to Jonathan Majors, who's also 32? I think to play a Young Avenger, the actor has to be under 30.

Could he be Genis-Vell?

Brie Larson is 31, so maybe she could play a Young Avenger. :o

How come we don't have a separate forum for the Marvels yet? Hasn't filming already started?

Why would/should she be as powerful as Carol?

I mean, Spectrum is a powerful character. In the comics, that is. Obviously mcu Spectrum is new to the "having powers" game. I assume her potential will be realized over time.

IS which is fine but doesnt mean she has to be as powerful as Carol. Carol is supposed to be stronger than Thor isnt she? Doesnt mean that Thor is weak.

Well I'm assuming Dr. Evil didn't mean super strength when he said "powerful". Spectrum doesn't have that. In the comics, at least.

They're not similar power sets, which makes direct comparison impossible. I'm curious how powerful they'll make Monica Rambeau. In the comics, when used to her potential, she's practically undefeatable. I don't know if they ever came up with an effective way to downgrade her power since all forms of light and radiation is quite a lot.

I do think we'll see Carol visit Maria during the period after she first returned to Earth after the Snap, potentially ending with something similar to this scene from the comics with Tracy Burke.

Monica is NO JOKE in terms of powersets.

If Carol (ironically... Given she's in the MCU WAY more Hal Jordan than some fans would like to admit...) is a SUPERMAN level character... Monica is a GL level and if you think that GL is a pushover compared to Supes that's not giving any GL their due given the potential of their power set with the ring.

Same with Monica. No, She's not been shown to be a Hulk or Thor level in terms of physical ability but her control of Photonics, LIGHT itself, energy based powers ect. add up to someone that can **** things up to the Nth degree if she so wished.

If that's not the impression she leaves in the comics it's honestly because the writers that handled her had to give other things consideration or just didn't understand the depths of her potential with what was established as her abilities from the jump. Which... She's in good company since tons of characters across both DC and Marvel fall into that category.

.....i never said she can't be powerful. I asked why should she be AS powerful as Carol? That's the difference. Green Lantern is powerful but not AS POWERFUL as Superman.

Are we going to get any weight training videos from Teyonah Parris?

Well that gets into what do we even mean by power.

Carol can topple a skyscraper with her bare hands and launch herself through an aircraft carrier.

That of course is impressive as **** in terms of destructive ability.

Okay...

Comics Monica can hang out in orbit between Earth and the moon and create a Gamma ray burst that would instantly sterilize the side of the Earth she's facing. I repeat... Monica could end half of all life on Earth in a moment if she wished.

What does "power" mean in any given context?
