Game of Thrones General (Non-Book Related) Discussion Thread - Part 1

Let at least one show be released, and then think about the next!:nono: Then it will be enough for them to start the survey, and they will immediately see what the viewers want to watch.
And yes, I would watch a show about Arya. It would be interesting. Just because I wonder what happened to her next ... :whatever:

Just think. We could have had a scene with Jon wielding Lightbringer like this.

:(

Game of Thrones first aired ten years ago today. Regardless about how many of us feel about the final season, I recommend checking out the two part reunion show hosted by Conan O'Brien on HBO Max. It reminded me why I loved the show so much in the first place.

I rewatched the pilot last night for the 10 Year Anniversary, probably going to keep pace for at least the first season. (I'm hoping they have a HOD teaser to drop on the 10th anniversary of the dragons being hatched) Boy do I miss how good the show used to be (even before it hit its peak).

But I think what stuck out to me the most is how great Roger Allam was as Illyrio and how overtly important they presented him as in the pilot, only to be never seen again outside of the secret cave convo with Varys. (An allegiance which, again, the show never followed up on) Really foreshadowed things to come, I guess...

HBO's YouTube Channel is drowning me in GOT video recommendations and notifications. Its getting a bit annoying. All this activity better be leading to a HoD teaser trailer premiere. Otherwise, **** off HBO.

I just love people's reactions to Red Wedding...

One more thing to take up GRRM's time.

AMC orders Dark Winds series from George R.R. Martin & Robert Redford

AMC has given a green-light to Dark Winds, a Western noir thriller series based on the Leaphorn & Chee series by Tony Hillerman. The series has been created by Graham Roland (Jack Ryan) and will star Zahn McClarnon (Westworld) and Kiowa Gordon (Roswell, New Mexico). As you might tell from the headline, Dark Winds is also set to be executive produced by George R.R. Martin (Game of Thrones) and Robert Redford (Captain America: The Winter Soldier), an unlikely pairing to be sure.

I'm just going to focus on my joy for Zahn McClarnon getting a leading role and ignore GRRM doing literally anything BUT finishing Winds of WInter.

Thus far...

HEY NOW! Winds is gonna come out eventually. Dream? (Assuming he can actually keep the ending contained to two books) Well, Dream is far less likely, but I like to think that once he gets everyone back to Westeros it will be easier to finish.

Ah I still say George has the last two books in the vault and will release them when he sees fit. Whether it's after he's gone or what it seems likes the type of troll job he'd love.

The only reason I can imagine that he would be holding WoW is a deal with HBO to release it the same year as House of the Dragon to reinforce the marketing of both.

Winds has been finished for months. When he gives updates, he's actually talking about Dream.

Trust me. I'm a scientist.

This is the kind of tone and energy the series finale kingsmoot needed:

A bedraggled Jon being brought from the black cells for trial, and just dominating the whole pack of noble hypocrits. Just fedup with everyone's BS and the game of thrones. Then when they wouldn't kill him he should have chosen exile, because he'd rather live the rest of his life in a cold hell than suffer another day of their game.

Three former Game of Thrones cast members are in BBC murder mystery/conspiracy thriller show Vigil.

(Stannis, Ygritte and Pod)

Ya know, after 2 years I'm still confused how Ramin went from this musical identity for the white walkers and dead...

To this...

On its own its a pretty piece, and in Westworld it would fit like a glove. But in GoT its incongruous. And not just with the dead theme its incongruous with GoT in general. It sounds like Ramin ran out of time and just pulled an unused piece of music from his Westworld sketchbook.

I get that he probably wanted to abandon the industrial sounding marching theme because the dead had arrived and he wanted something signifying death by himself calmly walking to Bran, but a piano arrangement?

He was obviously pissed that they carried on ahead of the books instead of waiting for him but in that case I don't blame D&D at all. For a show that popular with that much demand they couldn't just put it on hold for a few years to appease GRRM who more than likely wouldn't have finished The Winds of Winter in that time anyway.

Why does Verses dislike the Starks? Have I just missed something the show plainly states or it this something that is explained in more detail in the books? After starting to rewatch the show I had either forgotten how much Robert Baratheon sucked or was just like Cersei deserves how she's being treated. So my opinion has at least changed as far as how Robert treated her as I don't find him likeable at all. At one point he may have been a likeable person but not when we meet him in the show.
