Picard Star Trek: Picard - General Discussion Thread

With Q and all the Time travel hints and themes set up S2 teaser
"The true final frontier is time..."
Stewart (his emphasis) "..All the story lines, situations, and times that you're going to be seeing."
The All Good Things episode parallels, where Picard is "moving back and forth through time"
Some suggest a parallel story here, this time with Picard (and La Sirena Crew) similarly to All Good Things, being a go between and jumping between his current time, to the Discovery time, to the Strange New Worlds time, with the season arc connecting their 3 principle shows.

@Mondragon

If that's the case, they might as well throw in a few random episodes, one where they meet DC's Legends of Tomorrow, another where they meet Doctor Who, another where they meet SG-1, maybe one where they come across Marty McFly...

If there's one thing (I don't think) Trek needs, it's a time travel season, because where do you honestly go from there? If Trek was ever going to approach that ... theme, it should be with a new show specifically based around time travel, and on a time ship, not with Picard and a merry band of outcasts trying to fix the timeline or whatever - especially as timelines aren't exactly consistent any more.

You invoking all those as if to suggest it's Trek or Picard which is now encroaching on their territory, seems like a reaching for reasons to be disappointed. Time Travel has heavily been a part of Trek from the go.
And Picard to the last-

Again in the interview posted a few pages back, Stewart himself already emphasized they'd be jumping through time.

Stewart (this was his emphasis) "..All the story lines, situations, and times that you're going to be seeing."
As did the teaser. - "The true final frontier is time..."

And again the reference and parallels to all All Good Things - "The trial never ends" - temptation of to change time a second chance (and all the ramifications that come with it).

His series ended on it and Q, this is Picard Q and time travel coming together again!
If you don't like time travel eps, that's fine (not my favorite either) but seems fair game, suggesting Picard has no connection, or Time Travel needs to be it's own separate show?

And again All Good Things

It's one thing to have an episode or two involving time travel; it's something else entierly to have an entire season on it, which I took as the implication.

It could be fun, don't get me wrong, but there's gotta be more ideas out there than time travel, and where's the Temporal Police going to be in all of this? Be that Captain Braxton, Agent Daniels, or whoever else there is out there. I'm assuming this'll be Q's doing in any case, and to that degree, maybe the temporal police simply cannot get involved a the Q are way above and beyond them in terms of ability.

We'll see, though I wouldn't have minded the Picard show evolving within it's own timeline.

Season 1 was a mess. Hopefully they have a more cohesive plan for Season 2 with the new showrunner. The time travel stuff is concerning, as it seems like the next thing for the creatively bankrupt to do after evil robots.

It's a big ask.. but hopefully it's something that's thought-provoking, intelligent and engaging (no pun intended). Something current Trek is in desperate need of. I'm cheering for Patrick to end his run on Trek on a good note.

I am wondering if Seven of Nine is ultimately not going to want the timeline restored. She obviously wasn't assimilated into the Borg and she has a ring on her finger so she obviously got married. I am guessing that will be a major source of conflict, that her new life is good and she is experiencing happiness and doesn't want to leave.

I wonder if Data will be alive in this timeline. Could be cool if he joined the Borg in this timeline.

This vid is geo-blocked for me (in Canada). This one works (at least in Canada :meanie:).

Neither work for me. They both say they're blocked in the UK.

Colour me, curious and intrigued with that trailer. DeLancie looks amazing.
I so want this to be good, but I’ve been badly let down by Discovery and Picard and am honestly afraid to get my hopes up again.

Keeping an eye on Marc Bernardin for this since he's on the writing staff.

I'm really not sold on this time travel series. Is Picard going to end up in the future and command Discovery by shows end? o_O

She'll still have her memories though, so it'll be a case of her adjusting to her new timeline rather than reliving her old one.

Picard commanding Discovery? More like Burnham commanding Picard and the Enterprise. :o

Yeah I think it's inevitable they'll do a big teamup event between all the shows, since Kurtzman is so focused on MCU-inspired universe building... instead of intelligent and thought-provoking storytelling first.

I mean they introduced Klingon Timelords with magic Timecrystals, and Iron-Man Time-travel suits...

Here’s my question…is the Enterprise still in service?

From First Contact till now, it’s been operating right at 25 years, depending on how long it was designed to serve that might be a long time for a starship’s life. Just curious if it may still be out there, albeit under the command of someone else.

I never really liked it when Star Trek relied too much on time travel as a plot device, and this goes all the way back to the original movie series and TNG. If you make Star Trek into a time travel show, then technically you don't really need starships anymore, just time machines. Might as well make the show about a Delorean or a police box then.

Well there is a slight air of Alice Krige about her. But even in her own right she has Borg Queen qualities.

Oh wow can’t wait to see her version of the borg Queen. I hope she has fun with it

ST Picard takes place in 2399, and although it isn't necessarily canon, STO (with the Ent-F) takes place in, I think, 2409.

In STO Data commanded the Ent-E before its disappearance, though I don't believe the game ever covered what happened to it.

You wouldn't even need that really. A transporter pad would do it!

Interesting.

Presumably she'll be integrated into the time travel element, rather than playing the antagonist again. The Borg were obviously still an element of the first season, so it stands to reason there's a Queen around somewhere.

So, I have questions about that trailer...
