Black Panther: Wakanda Forever General Discussion and Speculation Thread

Letitia Wright Signed Marvel Contract For Many Movies (Spoilers)

But as more shots of the actor Dominique Thorne on set emerge, we get a couple of updates. Firstly, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is a double-hander of a movie starring both Ironheart and Shuri together, which may help set up the Ironheart TV show further. We get confirmation of what other places had rumored, that Shuri will be the new Black Panther of the movie – and of the Marvel Universe. But also, that before accepting the role, Letitia Wright had to sign a multiple movie contract with Marvel Studios, ensuring that she will continue to play the role of Shuri, Black Panther, in many other Marvel movies and projects yet to come.

So, we’re trading someone like Chadwick Boseman, a genuinely great person who left behind a tremendous legacy,
for a homophobic anti-vaxxer.

Wonderful.

I've read somewhere that someone over at Marvel had a talk with her.

It might be why she eventually shut down all of her social media accounts soon after. Now she might have it back up now, but soon after she made those comments she shut down all of her social media.

If Chadwick Boseman was still alive, I would watch this movie opening week, no questions asked. If it gets the same buzz as Shang Chi, I will watch it opening week. If it gets similar buzz to Black Widow, I'll wait a bit.

So they picked the worst option.

Neato.

Wait....wasn't it already assumed that she had signed for multiple movies when she signed on for Black Panther?

So my top candidate, Nakia will not play Black Panther. That sucks. I have been a Lupita fan since 12 Years a Slave.

It was obvious Nakia wasn't going to be the neXt Black Panther. Shuri imo was the only choice. I wish they recast T'Challa instead rather than the giving the mantle to Shuri/Leticia.

I just happen to really like the actress and I want to see her do more work.

I hope the future Disney+ Wakanda series explores the country's past. I would be shocked if Europe didn't know of Wakanda's existence decades before T'Challa opened the country to the rest of the world. It would be similar to the 200 years of isolation that Japan had: the rest of the world has known of it's existence for centuries, but that country doesn't want diplomatic relations with most of the world.

I still don’t get why they didn’t just recast the role of T’Challa

They had no problem recasting Banner and Rhodie, don’t see why they couldn’t just do another recast

My guess is they didn't want to step on Chad's legacy, and have someone come and play his version of the character. Although, I think a recast would've been better because there are at least a few actors who could come in and not only continue the legacy that he started but expand upon it with their own performance. But hey, the multiverse is a thing now so maybe there's a chance we get a variant of T'challa in the future. Idk.

If they didn't recast T Challa for the sequel. I don't see them later using the Multiverse to bring in another actor to portray T Challa.

The sequel was going to move forward with or without him. I would think have been opposed to them recasting by the third movie, to give people time to move on and to tribute the direct sequel in his honor. But chances are that's not going to happen.

I'm intrigued if they intend to do a Black Panther 4 with the new Black Panther, or wrap the Wakanda films into a trilogy.

I was going to doubt the source here since it is from The Direct, but they are talking about a report made by THR. THR is VERY reliable.

Honestly, if it is true she is the new BP and she signed a massive deal, I am surprised for exactly this reason. The red flag was there ages ago. Now if we assume she is a problem and ends up getting herself exiled from the House of Mouse, now either Shuri needs recast or we get our 3rd BP in a relatively short period of time.

What a cluster.

*shrug* Shuri shouldn't have been the replacement BP to begin with. The way the character was portrayed in Black Panther and Endgame, it's a bridge too far for me. Nakia, Okoye, M'Baku, Kasper Cole, a recast T'Challa, hell a resurrected Erik Killmonger would've all been better options.

Wright's comments are just the cherry on top of the **** sundae.

Resurrected Killmonger would have been crap. The What If episode made me further think the character was amazing in the first movie and should just remain that way. Hated the episode about him saving Stark.

I would have gone with Nakia.
