Superman & Lois General News & Discussion Thread (TAG SPOILERS!)

I kinda wish the rest of the Arrowverse shows would be on their way out and just move Superman & Lois to HBO, and start their own universe with new faces in the roles. I love Grant & Amell, but this show is superior to all the rest of them, IMO.

They really haven't said that S&L is part of the Arrowverse, have they? It would be nice to know lol.

I know Jon Cryer has fans of his version of Lex, but I still wouldn't mind a new face in that role too.
It sucks that Supergirl has already used a whole bunch of Superman's rogues (Lex, Metallo, Parasite, Manchester Black, Silver Banshee, ect).

Seems like they would need to recast, rehire or explain they are post crisis/multiverse versions to use those characters again.

Yep, too bad the parent show used characters before the spin-off existed. The spin-off should avoid recasting characters the parent used, aren’t there enough villains that Supergirl hasn’t used. I could be wrong but aren’t all those characters also Supergirl foes in the comics.

Supergirl has had a few different Metallos and Parasites so I don’t see any reason why S&L can’t go along with that idea. Just don’t reuse the same character names.

According to Wikipedia Silver Banchee has two real names Siobhan Smythe, which is who Supergirl used, and Siobhan McDougal. S&L could use Siobhan McDougal and still be respecting Supergirl.

Manchester Black yep he shouldn’t be used on S&L unless they can rehire. Technically him being alive could be explained by CoIE.

Jon Cryer IS the CW-verses Lex Luthor even after CoIE, to recast would not be ok. S&L is part of the same universe weather fans like it or not. The good news for S&L is Jon seems pretty fond of the role. I mean he must have taken less pay than he could command to do it. He wasn’t originally supposed to be in CoIE but asked to be included. Let’s see how his story ends on Supergirl.

As for explaining a different actor because the multiverse there’s not much precedent for that. I can think of two exceptions where a different actor played the multiverse doppelgänger. Brandon Routh played Clark/Superman in CoIE and Jesse Rath’s IRL sister played a female Brainy. The former was a fun call back and the latter only worked because of the striking resemblance between the IRL siblings, neither doppelgänger was on for more than a few episodes.

EXCLUSIVE: Teen Wolf alum Ian Bohen is set for a multi-episode arc on the upcoming second season of CW’s Superman & Lois.

Bohen will play Lt. Mitch Anderson, the metaphorical “new sheriff in town” at the DOD. His worldview divides into two types – those you serve and those who serve you. He doesn’t like that Superman exists outside that paradigm and tries to bring the Man of Steel under his authority officially.

That is a wonderful addition to the cast.

This character of Lt Mitch Anderson is going to be similar to General Sam Lane.

Yeah honestly it sounds like he's there to play the exact same role General Lane would normally play in a Superman story, so I'm not sure how I feel about that, tbh.

Agreed. If they needed to give Superman another Government official as one of his adversaries for this season, then they could have used Project Cadmus instead.

To be honest, I will be a little disappointed if they don't use one of Superman's major villains for this season (e.g. Lex Luthor).

Im guessing Lex is off limits until Supergirl ends.

Since I am glad General Lane isn't actually being used as a villain for once I am totally fine with some other military person doing it.

Also it would seem Tyler joined TikTok and posted a brief video from set (which I am posting from Twitter because I don't go near TikTok, lol);

Another social media account he will certainly almost never use. :hehe:

And now I shall be irrationally annoyed at this video for including Tyler but not any actual footage of Superman & Lois:

For those wondering Mitch Anderson is from the comics. He appeared in the Doomsday story-arc as that angsty teenager searching for his family.

We're they not allowed to show Cavill's face up close.

Lol

Anyway, I'm not sure if I should watch this show. I mean I did watch the first two episodes and I liked them but wasn't wowed. I think I wasn't digging the focus with the teenager with powers thing...And then I got some character stuff spoiled a bit randomly, which wasn't great, but I suppose I will return to the show at some point.

After catching up on the Son of Superman comics, I'm even more glad that (for now) that Jordan isn't a carbon copy of Clark whose just as and if not more powerful than he is.

I wonder who will the new actress portray from the comics?

Well, DC Fandome was definitely a disappointment when it comes to "Superman and Lois".
