I really hope that Simu Liu story circling around about him being of part of a Men’s Rights Reddit forum isn’t true. :csad:

I think it’s true, based on this tweet from 2019 that’s trending again. Didn’t know what he meant at the time.

Me everytime a good director attacks / comment comic book franchises to generate some buzz for their upcoming movie the general audience dont care about.

*I will watch Dune for sure but it seems to be far away from what it deserved.

So far I have yet to see any "proof" abou Liu produced.

Doesn't Reddit archive pretty well?

I'm open to this being true but can someone point to something concrete?

Again... I'm trying to track down things Simu put out but I'm finding a lot of claims but no posts backing it up.

And what I am finding is...No offense to my Chinese or Asian brothers and sisters, but this feels like it's the offshoot of some very "inside baseball" discussions among members of a community I can't even pretend to have a full understanding of as it's not my experience.

Can someone produce some receipts and not just, essentially, hearsay?

His name is trending on twitter. Just click on it and you'll find it. The worst post is probably one of his 2015 reddit posts where he more or less said "Pedophilia and being gay" are the same thing.

But idk, I'm not really a fan of when the social media mob digs into someone's past looking for dirt. People grow, and I'd like to think Simu did.

One thing I like about Simu is, how openly communicative he is on social media with responsing and doing very intimate comments. Rare thing for actors if you ask me. I just hope he thinks twice before submitting something to avoid potential sh**storms.

10 days later... :whatever:

I'm finding a lot of Online inside baseball stuff related to Reddits concerning Asian diaspora along with claims Liu is alot of things like a misogynist or racist.

The stuff he is accused of is already all over the map. The posts that are being attributed to him that I've finally found are tin eared to say the least, if that is him but I'm not keyed into Reddit culture to be able to tell truth from falsehood if I'm honest.

I'm seeing he started these Reddits too which seems a stretch.

Should Popeye count as a superhero? Spinach consumed mode is his Super Saiyan mode, he powers up to defeat a giant octopus.

A gif explaining Super Saiyan, for those who don't speak Dragon Ball Z.

I saw the Reddits and some of his old tweets. Simu….

This Twitter user puts a spin on this:

That said... He never should have hit post with that stuff about Pedophilia. He should have intellectually understood the implications of how he was formulating his argument there.

Marvel Studios really has Hollywood shook up.

I aspire to have that influence Feige has.
:funny: Facts.

The MCU wouldn't even be on their radar if it wasn't successful. I think its unfathomable to them that these un-cinematic and copy and paste movies are loved by so many people across the globe and it doesn't seem to be slowing down. Black widow is the highest grossing movie in NA and Shangchi is going to be the first movie to pass 200m since the pandemic. I get why they would find that frustrating.

The MCU is not perfect. There is a lot of better movies out there, but the general audience aren't showing up for them. Sometimes I don't get it too.

You can skip Black Widow. You're not missing anything. Just re-watch The Winter Soldier because Black Widow is a diet, watered down version of Cap2 imo.. But I definitely will recommend Shag-Chi. That was a kick ass movie.

I may watch Shang Chi for the fight sequences alone, which I've heard are great.

WB really made Tenet's losses public the same day news of Nolan leaving them got out

Lol so petty

Shang-chi is definitely the superior Marvel movie this year but I'm somewhat surprised at how many people have cooled down on Black Widow. I thought it was really solid. I definitely see "watered down Cap 2", it's definitely mid-tier Marvel, but for my money that's a cut above most blockbusters.

That said people at my office were talking about how much they loved Shang-chi yesterday. They're fresh out of college kids, squarely in the category of "general audience" and not fanboys by any stretch. Really happy to see it clicking with audiences and hope they fast-track a sequel.

Her movies are better than Villenueve. Fact.

I’ve never been a fan of his work. They are beautifully shot and technically proficient, but I find him highly overrated. (Especially the overlong letdown that was BR 2049.) And this was before his offhanded comments about Marvel.

He won’t be ‘cancelled.’ Just caught in a Twitter controversy that will blow over eventually. Definitely not a good look either way.

Doing some reading about the Men's Right Asians community he was supposedly a big part of, and it's a terrible look. But Disney won't be dropping him unless he starts posting that kind of stuff now, especially since his movie is making money for them :o

For me it's one of those films that isn't as good on the second viewing like a few other mid-tier MCU movies such as Guardians 2 or Age of Ultron but it's still solid.
