General PC Discussion

PC is becoming the best platform lol.

Oh my glob why didn't I hear about this sooner. They fixed the damn Surface Book.

Yeah I know it's an updated and better version of this.

The I/O could be better on this thing and of course this was designed more for artists and graphic design in mind. That polarizer and brightness issues are unforgivable though.

There's no denying that PC gaming is getting even bigger than ever before with Xbox & Playstation first parties. Some Japanese devs/publishers are also expanding to this market as seen with the Yakuza and Persona series.

That Geforce Now leak has entries to some unannounced projects that make us PC enthusiasts quite excited for the near future.

If someone told us Playstation's mascot would be coming to PC few years back, we would be laughing at them. Yet here we are. :hehe:

PC is certainly *improving* in some ways, thanks to certain developers bringing more games to it, for reasons good ( most Japanese studios ) or otherwise ( Sony ). This just doensn't fundamentally change the market dynamic: PC is more expensive and more complex than console.

Haha. I think most people are instinctively attracted either to pc or console and improvements on one don’t really move the needle much given how different the 2 are with major inherent functional advantages and disadvantage to each that are unlikely to change. For gamers like me who are more in the middle with both, things like console exclusives being on pc matters more.

Expense and the artifice of console exclusives aside, it is by far the best platform, especially when you consider technical capabilities, customization, versatility, backwards compatibility, and depth of its game library. This is especially true given that consoles are more and more just becoming standardized, budget gaming PCs in a box with each passing generation.

How long until it's outed that Dell bought out Aperture Labs?

They can charge it, but you don't have to *pay* it. People always have the option to *not* buy a game, and *not* play it. And if enough people respond that way, then the prices will decline.

So far, it's two Squeenix games (Forspoken and FF7RI) that have the increased price tag. Hopefully the other publishers won't follow suit.

You're right, people don't have to pay that price. I rarely buy AAA games at their full price. Besides, sales on PC storefronts happen regularly.

Elden Ring could be pre-ordered for 48 USD not too long ago.

I mean, I expect that more AAA games *will* increase their price. . . but that is because I expect that the truth will be, fans will whine and complain about the unreasonableness and greediness of the pricing of Call of Assassins 11, and then buy it anyway. Because the concept of *not* buying something you want seems alien to the video game customer base. "This game interests me, but the price is too high so I will skip it" simply doesn't enter the mindset, its either "This game is trash that you couldn't pay me to play" or else "I must have this game, by pricing it higher than I want to pay you are committing a crime and offense against me!"

I guess once gamers get the horrendous backlog buildup it can become a little different.

Hopefully it gets the same success and support as the SM64 project.
