Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness general news and discussion thread

Grace Rudolph is female Mickey Sutton

It's now releasing the first weekend of May, which will also mark the 20th anniversary of the original Spider-Man:word:

It’s not a stretch at all to think that this delay has to do with DS:MOM, since it’s the very first movie on that list that needed to be reshuffled.

The movie wrapped filming back in mid-April. At some point there was talk about reshoots which where taking place in September. We don’t know the extent of those reshoots but this things are part of the process and they definitely add more post production work, specially for a movie like this that will likely envolve a lot of SFX.

A while back there where several articles hinting at a possible delay and even Benedict Cumberbatch hinted at that happening.
"It's all in the process of process right now. There's the usual pick-ups and stuff that we have to do in September, and then sometime next year [it will release]. I think it is known when it's slated to be released but I don't want to say if it isn't (laughs)."

Good find.

If they attach a trailer to NWH, than the week 11/29-12/03 would be my guess.

Eternals got a trailer 2 weeks prior to the release of Shang Chi

Well there you have it. If people where wondering about reasons for the most recent delays, there’s another set of reshoots for Doctor Strange:MOM.

So it wrapped filming back in April, then got reshoots in September and now more reshoots both in November and December. While I think that reshoots are an integral part of the process and for the most part make the films better, they also happen because something doesn’t quite work in early cuts, tests screenings…

In this case we have yet another set of reshoots, this time even closer to the release date, so close in fact that they needed to basically postpone the whole schedule in order to have more time to work on the film.

It sure raises some red flags. Also coupled with some reports floating around regarding test screenings with like warm reception. Hopefully they can fix whatever need fixing and patch it up in a way that doesn’t retract from the films overall quality.

Every Marvel movie does reshoots, so this doesn't stand out to me as a red flag, even with a certain youtuber telling everyone it's a mess.

Lets face it. This is worrisome.
I didn't want to believe that idiot lady but so far everything she said about it checks out. First she said they screened the film and it's a hot mess and needed extensive reshoots, i didn't believe it. Now it turns out there has been a screening and now BC says there are reshoots AGAIN in both November AND December? YIKES. That screams red flags if I've ever seen one.

The movie is releasing in less than 5 months while they're still gonna have reshoots. YIKES!

this was a long time the most awaited phase 4 project for most of the fans.
It would really be disappointing if they messed this up. They can’t argue, that it was because of Covid, because they had almost a year to rewrite it before filming started last December

I agree here, I just hope they reshoot again after the success of Wandavision that they make Wanda more nice and integrate Agatha somehow.

I hope its at least better than Sam Raimi's last Marvel movie - Spider-Man 3, if the negative rumour is true.

I head that the test audience sympathized with Wanda and completely rejected her villainy, so they have to rewrite the film to make her an antiheroine instead of a villain.

So... basically the ending of Wandavision.

Wanda imprisons, tortures innocent people knowingly and willingly like a villain.
Monica: "They don't know what you sacrificed"

Ruined the show for me.

I hope we don't see another repeat of this with DS2.

A coloring pad + jigsaw puzzle set for this movie appeared online. We've seen the art for the puzzle before but the coloring pad has new art featuring (what I believe is) the villain of the movie.

Doctor Strange Multiverse Of Madness apparently about to go through “significant reshoots.”
The Benedict Cumberbatch-starring sequel to Marvel Studios’ 2016 installment, has been prescribed a major new shoot. In what sources describe as being “significant,” the new shoot, taking place in Los Angeles, is both “additional photography” and “reshoots.”

How significant? Insiders say that Cumberbatch and company are undertaking six weeks of shooting, if not more, working six days a week. Sam Raimi remains helmer and Loki head writer Michael Waldron is still on board writing the new material.

Should we take this as a red flag?

No, happens all the time. Eternals had reshoots in summer

They will do everything to hold the May release - it’s the most important release date of the year

Looks like Grace Randolph was right after all.
