I'm not particularly fussed on if Cavill returns or not, but one thing I agree with him on - why can't there be multiple Superman projects all at the same time, on different mediums.

This one took too long and I didn’t even get everyone, but I just love seeing these characters next to their DCAU counterparts.

I have been thinking about how to approach supes in The Batman and I think I "maybe" go with a sort of Unbreakable type of character, he isn't really present in the movie much but we get a glimpse of a dark haired buff guy in regular clothes (maybe fire damaged or whatever) lifting something far too heavy off if Bruce, but he doesn't stick around. Don't worry about playing into the Superman side but show there is a familiar looking guy that we might recognize as Supes with some more than human strengths.

Gunn confirmed it's still part of DC Elseworlds so it's very much still in active development.

Wasn't part of the slate though, and we've seen plenty of other DC projects lingering in development go the way of the dodo.
If you already have a Superman film in development, why not use that as your new version?
I'll be happy to be proved wrong, but I think they're just going to wait for a convenient time to announce it's no longer going forward.

They also didn't include any of the Matt Reeves batman spin off series on the slate and we know those are still in active development and they're elseworlds as well. Gunn also said this was not the complete slate for chapter 1. I imagine they want to see if their superman and supergirl are successful before announcing an even riskier superman movie.

I'd be more excited for the Coates movie than most of this slate even though they all sound cool, tbh. It seems to still be in active development but its a little hard to imagine it happening.

Its certainly is very quiet around the Project for sure.
And there were a few rumors that it was completely re-written etc before Gunn took over.
Hard to say but it doesnt seem like there is a lot of Priority in it, so its possible that it will never get farther.
We have to wait and see.
