Black Panther: Wakanda Forever General Discussion and Speculation Thread

Seems Shuri was going to be the new Black Panther but because of her anti-vaxx stance, the movie is going to be retooled:

And who are these guys with their acknowledged unconfirmed reports, and how come I've never heard of them?

Rocha is former Collider, now he's also a member of the HCA. Vogel's got ties from his animation work. This is probably the first time I've seen him break something so the source must be credible for him to go public with this (they kind of laughed at Campea's Spidey pics a couple of weeks ago, without even naming him).

Rocha was part of Collider's Golden Era with the late Jon Schnepp, Christian Harloff and Mark Ellis. He's still involved with Harloff and Ellis via the Movie Trivia Schmoedown.

I know that. But I also understood he retired from the Schmoedown?

Posted about this in the FF forum as well, but apparently Lake Bell is playing Lucia Von Bardas (Prime Minister of Latveria) in Wakanda Forever.

The implications of that are huge. If they are going with the idea that
T'Challa was assassinated by an Atlantean, the notion that Latveria (Doom) is somehow involved makes me jump to the conclusion that Doom was probably behind the assassination in an effort to start a war between Wakanda and Atlantis.

It'd be cool to see Doom debut in this movie in a stinger the way Thanos made his debut in The Avengers. Maybe even the FF.

That’d be cool, but it’s nothing more than a Reddit rumor right now.
I haven’t seen this on the more reliable sites yet…

Get a VaXXinated Leticia.

I wouldn't mind though if they recast though. I diXlike her attitude over this to the point I'm not even looking forward for Shuri as the Black Panther.

i hope that we see Shuri in the next film.
I would miss Letitia, if she were not there.
It is up to her.
FINGERS CROSSED!

Well if we don't see Letitia Wright as Shuri I think they're gonna have to do the most substantial reshoots in an MCU project to date. As I understand it she was supposed to be the main character and they had already paused production because she was injured and they had shot all scenes they could shoot without her. Replacing her at this stage would probably be a major endeavor. Maybe not quite at the level of completely replacing Kevin Spacey with Christopher Plummer in "All the Money in the World" after that full movie was already finished, but I imagine it'd be going somewhat in that direction.

And if they don't go back to shooting with Letitia next month whether it is allow to recast her or wait until she's allowed to travel and be on set unvaxinated or to somehow set things up to film her scenes remotely like I think they did for Christopher Lee in the Hobbit movies, it will probably be another huge delay.

Maybe.
I still have Hope.
KEEP HOPE ALIVE!

I was wondering why nobody spoke here about the Twitter thread going on about how she allegedly refuses to return to the set due to her having fast become a antivaxx, youtube conspiracy fan person.

Seems we still dont know 100% what goes on on this.

I can see why they were in trouble and all, but when the story hit first with her "opinions" on covid etc, i think they should have taken steps, prepared a backup plan and see how fans react to it all.

I get why they didnt recast when things first got rocky, but i still think it would have been the best decision.
Recast Tchalla and Shuri...because i doubt the future for BP is bright as it stands.
You either go with recasting or hoping that Letitia doesnt get more bonkers.

I already thought Lupita/Nakia would be a better choice to become the main character before anyway based on both where there stories could go from the first movie and the actresses. Then when this issue first came up from Letitia I definitively thought they should avoid making her the new BP/main character because it was always risky...

No single person should bring an entire production to a halt no matter their personal beliefs. If she’s not playing ball with Marvel Studios then they should can her. They have every right to. The delays are probably costing them a lot money.

Another thing:

- I liked the first movie a lot, but since I am not African American, it didn't have a profound impact on me as it would have if I was African American. To me it was a really good movie.

This film has been doomed ever since Chadwick passed.

He was the heart and soul of BP, with him gone...the magic might be too.
It put everything in a very tough spot when he Died.
Cant blame Disney on their decisions, they were hoping for the best.

Yeah my enthusiasm for this is nil. I had no opinion of Wright before but reading about her antics has really turned me off. And since there is no clear lead in this movie, I’m not interested in seeing 2 hours of just supporting cast.

Whoever said there is no hype for Black Panther 2 need to reevaluate that statement
