Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness general news and discussion thread

Very excited for this. Trailer on deck just makes my hype higher.

There is SO much potential with Cumby's Strange.

Her tiara looks better than it did in Wandavision. The one in Wandavision was a completely solid color with black bits in between the patterns. The one in this doesn’t have the black bits, is semi translucent and floats slightly in front of her forehead, like the original concept art Andy Park did for the show. Obviously, budget is not as much of a concern for the movie costume, so it’s design can be more accurately captured with VFX.

Can’t wait to see what kind of crazy power displays she has in this.
The costume has turned out much better than I expected for another character whose outfit could have been difficult to translate. Really hoping Wanda can kick on now in the films after the boost of getting her own show.

There's a lot of temptation in having so many fun cameos, but I'd hate to see Strange 2 turn into Iron-man 2 when ideally Cumberbatch as Strange should be one of the leading figures in the current mcu.

I have faith in Raimi delivering a scary movie with interesting story development… but I fear MoM becoming a fan-service blockbuster

Im not expecting a scary movie at all.
some darker, intense moments here and there? sure. But a scary movie, not at all, lol. Tho maybe it will be scary to the younger audience (4-7 years old) but thats it. And its not shade

Scott Derrickson leaving was the first red flag for me. I'm hoping it turns out ok because I see the temptation in going nuts, but I still want a good Doctor Strange film and not a bunch of cameos and "Hey I recognize that!".

Kevin Feige said, it’ll be the first scary MCU movie. so…

Kevin is a producer, the main one, so he gotta do his job of selling his movies.
A producer, writer, actors or even the own director can say all they want: its the actual product who should speak for itself and will be the most honest one.
lets not forget Kinberg's interviews about his x-men movies, lol

Insidious and Drag me to hell have PG13 rating, so I have fait, it‘ll be scary enough.
I don’t need it to be like Se7en.

Take it with a grain of salt as I don’t know how reliable this source is.

Just like we were getting a Kenobi trailer on Disney+ day, right?

I don't believe it at all.

The potential to be one of the most popular AND important characters in the MCU. Another (at best) C list Marvel character they have elevated.

A trailer as a post-credit scene is definitely Strange but since this info came out of "nowhere" i am more inclined to believe it. Even though a ton of people will be watching SM:NWH it's still a bit of an odd release strategy for a teaser trailer because it will immediately leak online once people see it in theaters.

So the question is, when could it release online?

Seems like an odd move versus just having a post credit scene featuring Doctor Strange setting up MoM.

I'm all in for a trailer as a post credits scene. This isn't the first time though, First Avenger had a teaser for Avengers, right?
I prefer a trailer for the next movie rather than an inconsequential scene like an ant playing drums.

I loved the trailer and I think they went this way because a trailer is probably longer lasting memory since the movie was pushed back to May. Strange is going to bring another game changer with the OGs gone, Spider-Man trilogy done but likely new chapter starting, Black Panther not having the same continuity due to Chadwick passing. Dr.Strange is that main plot character that things can center around. He can appear in so many movies too as a side character.

Please...don't remind me of that. Or that movie, but that scene in particular.

since the trailer is one of the post credit scenes, we might see the HD version on Youtube by the end of December 2021 or early 2022

i think it’ll be before christmas- one week after release.

That footage was really lackluster. I was thinking, "Is this a Sam Raimi movie?" during it. It had a few Raimi shots, but other than that it didn't look like anything noteworthy. :(
