The Taskmaster thread

I was hoping Taskmaster wouldn’t be fully resolved within this film so we could get to see the villain reappear.
Me too
since they did a fake out/ reveal of who this taskmaster was, do you think it leaves room for a more comic accurate (Tony Masters) version to still appear somewhere else? or...?
Probably not but you never know with Marvel

I think theres a good chance we see Taskmaster again. Especially with Valentina Allegra de Fontaine showing up everywhere and putting a team of baddies together.

Now whether its Antonia or Tony remains to be seen. But I could easily see Antonia renouncing her father's surname in favor of perhaps her mother's?

Antonia Masters? Toni for short?

Would be cool if Taskmaster joins that group.

I knew Val was going to be in Black Widow and I fully expected her to be recruiting Taskmaster instead. I do think there's room for the character going forward though, so I'm curious to see where Marvel goes with it

See this shows a clear depiction of the physical strength of Taskmaster and had the characterization been up to par, Taskmaster would have been a credible threat going forward.

Spoilers ahead

My idea is you could've had Taskmaster as this pesky a-hole who constantly gets in the way, gets defeated, but somehow always escapes. He would've been a recurring thread between movies. And his abilities to copy everyone would've made him a credible threat. Even Spidey should have trouble getting through his style. Like imagine if Boba Fett was a credible threat or Cad Bane from Clone Wars. The MCU equivalent of that.

Then let's say he finally meets Wolverine or Shang Chi. And Taskmaster can't figure out how to copy Wolverine when he goes into a berserker rage or Wolverine and isn't following like typical predictable movement. OR Shang Chi figures out a way to clear his head and use techniques that Taskmaster can't predict or anticipate.

This is riddled with inaccuracies.

Yeah at least they didn't kill Taskmaster off, so I expect we'll see her again. However, seeing how negative the reception has been for how Marvel adapted the character, I wouldn't be surprised if they introduce the Tony Masters iteration in another film or through a Disney+ show similar to what happened with the Mandarin.

I still would like to see Antonia again though.

So, just because its unclear so far. . . everyone in this thread *does* realize that Taskmaster wasn't the villain of the movie, right?

it’s clear, but see how Robert Redford played Alexander Pierce the real mastermind in Captain America: The Winter Solider? yet the physical villain was in the The Winter Solider. They did the same thing here only they made Taskmaster a joke rather than a thrilling threat like The Winter Solider was. Dreykov was an over the top Bond villain that really wasn’t much.

Taskmaster Kicked Natasha's ass for most of the film.

Another lame-o villain decision by Marvel. Why can't they just adapt these villains straight on instead of the amalgamations and twists? Talk about reducing a badass villain to an afterthought.

Sigh....

At the very least, I am happy that Taskmaster didn't have the straight up clunky Skullface mask.
And another, thing, In the comics, Taskmaster is a bit of a Chatty Cathy,HE NEVER SHUTS UP!
I Liked the Silent version of Taskmaster in this film.
It made the character seem a bit scarier.

That bridge scene was great. The rest a waste of a cool character.

What a waste indeed, I can't believe that they messed up Taskmaster! One of the worst things about this movie.
