Hawkeye Hawkeye General Discussion Thread

Oh I'm liking it a lot too, it's just unfortunate that it'll be largely overshadowed next week and possibly the following week in comparison to how huge No Way Home will be.
Nature of The Beast.

So many characters and subplots in play, I don't get how they can wrap this all up in a satisfying way in two episodes.

Laura knew exactly what the rolex was and that it could be something the Tracksuit mafia wanted. And she suddenly speaks German. That's interesting.

I'm guessing the final two episodes are going to be fast paced especially if the episodes are less than 42 mins. Lots of resolution and spin off baiting.

The first 4 episodes felt like the first two acts of a movie or the first hour of a 2 hour movie.

Tags for safety.

Episode 4 was just a lot of talking and character building, don't get me wrong, some of it was well done. But they have been moving very slowly. And now they throw in Yelena which is a GIANT CAN OF WORMS. And episode 4 was one of the shorter episodes. I don't care for the LARPER scenes at all. That's a lot to wrap up in just another 90 minutes.

Seriously Clint, why did you take Bombshell's bag? Could've taken like 1 minute to transfer arrows. You're already wasting all that time making slushee mix and playing beer pong with Christmas ornaments. You can switch bags for the larper lady.

I'm surprised it was 32 minutes (eXcluding the credits but including the Marvel logo / previously on).

It really feels like Marvel studios just stretched this to a siX episode mini series, to the point that an episode barely hit the 30 minute mark. This could have easily been a more or less 2 hour movie, that can easily be finished in 1 seating - rather than being spread out for 5 weeks.

It could've been a 2 hour Disney+ movie but remove the Yelena elements, which feel shoehorned as it is. The whole Yelena thing basically feels like its own movie or like season.

Yelena feels more natural in the series than Echo to be honest. Episode 4 could've taken out Echo and mostly played out the same.

I wonder where we'll pick up with some of these characters again (besides Echo, obviously).

So far yeah. Hopefully Echo can justify her presence and getting a spinoff in the next couple of episodes. I was expecting more.

unless they actually advertise that Vincent will be part of that series i have no interest in her story what so ever I've been waiting for Yelena to show up 4th episode kind of late for my taste wish it was her vs clint was the focus instead of Echo

I have enjoyed the series so far. It's not better than Loki (which I still think is the best series so far) but it is better than Falcon and the Winter Soldier (although I gave that a pass due to COVID restrictions although I wasn't a fan of giving a bunch of people the same enhanced abilities as Steve Rogers without any difference between those people and Steve. At least Bucky has his arm) and WandaVision (which I liked a lot as well, but the cast and crew had a wild case of foot in mouth disease which caused speculation among fans to go out of control). Loki did not have that for me. I had thought that the baddie in the finale was going to be one of two: Kang or a Loki variant and it was a Kang variant. I also loved how Loki used archival footage to show appearances from other heroes without distracting from the story.

As for Echo, this was only an introduction to Echo. She will be the focus of her own show. It's always good to see Native American representation, which is needed, not just in the superhero genre, but in all Hollywood in general, especially if it's someone new. After a while, people get tired of seeing the same Native American actors play all Native American roles, so from that standpoint, Echo is a good move. It's risky, but I think it's a good move.

Seems pretty crowded now with all these subplots going on.

I personally don't care for how Ronin got connected to Echo's backstory, but this is the route they've chosen. Now it feels like we have too much going on and too many spinning plates.

Now I did say that I wasn't a fan of too many people with the same enhanced abilities without any subtle changes from the original (as was the issue with FATWS) but I wasn't bothered by Sylvie, Boastful Loki, Kid Loki, Classic Loki and Gator Loki because they are all different versions of Loki. I am also fine with two Hawkeyes because they have the same trained abilities and many people have the same trained abilities in real life, whether it be archery or martial arts or even technical skills like engineering or learning more than one language. Yelena has a lot of the same trained abilities as Clint and Kate, which is fine, so did Natasha. It's why I have a lot of concerns for She Hulk.

It's the reason why I like Loki a lot better but I still enjoy this show. The variants of Loki didn't feel like too much was going on there because they are essentially different versions of the same Loki and it made sense storyline wise via the TVA. They also kept the appearances of the other MCU characters to archival footage, making it feel like it's completely separate from the MCU, which is good. Loki is canon, no debating that, but it's separate from the rest of the MCU.

If I had to rank the D+ Marvel series so far it'd be

1.TFAWS
2. Hawkeye
3. Loki
4. WandaVision

They're all good and can't say any of them are bad, but something about the more grounded ones are piquing my interest more. Hawkeye has been great imo.

agreed 90 minutes to wrap up Yelena vendetta , her mother and Jack are they behind anything and echo and 15 mins of that will be him reuniting with his family for christmas

all of that and they still waste time with that cosplay group so frustrating

Yelenas hi in that promo is cringy hope that is not in the episose out of character imo

My guess is next episode will be tuxedo mission will concentrate on Jack/Eleanor and the final episode will be the skating action scene solving Yelena and Track Suit Mafia/Echo. The tuxedo mission scene already looks like another random filler one, but we will see. Like an old tradition, the final episode will give the character his new costume. :D

I just think maybe they can tie the plots together with Eleanor hired Val who sent Yelena so you can handle both at once.

As of now it definitely seems like more of a business decision than a creative one.

Watching Episode 4 last night I noticed two occasions where Yelena kept Kate breathing - once by snapping the cable to get her zip line moving toward the roof and a second time when she attached a safety line to her before punting her back off. She also avoids using the Widow's bite or even striking Kate. Her behavior kinda answers the question who called in the hit.

Yes, Falcon and the Winter Soldier and WandaVision were originally due out in 2020. As far as the films go, I don't think the September and December release dates for Shang-Chi and Spider-Man were originally reserved for Marvel films prior to the pandemic.
All True.
In Fact, The release of Shang Chi on Labor Day was the first time that particular holiday weekend had a major release in a long time.
Usually Labor Day, is where they dump the box office turkeys.
