Fantastic Four General News & Discussion Thread (TAG SPOILERS)

Well if Lake Bell is definitely playing Lucia Von Bardas then at last we see getting our first mention of ANYTHING tied to Latveria. Of course that would have to mean they keep her tied to that country and of course if she is in it and tied to it, then Doom is obviously involved...

Second, in a new interview Tom Holland excitedly said he knows who bought Avengers Tower...I am sooo hoping with Jon Watts doing the F4, that No Way Home reveals that Easter egg that it was that blasted Richards to have bought it

At the end of Far From Home, we got a pretty clear reference to the Fantastic Four associated with the building on the construction sign.

Then we found out Watts would be directing FF, and in the No Way Home trailer, we see a completed building.

I think it’s a near certainty at this point that this is the Baxter Building. The only question is how much they’ll directly reveal in No Way Home.

I would imagine Watts is excited to promote his next project and will be pushing Fiege to include at least some references to get the hype started.

Why you are one of my favorite people to talk to on any message board...its nice to hear someone have the same ideas as me LOL...our love for the quartet and Doom is pretty epic to say the least...

If Richards bought Avengers Tower (see post #424), why would it be called the Baxter Building? Maybe it is Four Freedoms Plaza? Although if they are not powered yet, not sure why it would be called that either. I'm a purist, so I want to see the Baxter Building. Excelsior!

I like the BP ties people have brought up and maybe that's where it starts. I really think people need to stop complaining about having nothing interesting in MCU (because I think the last few movies HAVE been interesting and the upcoming slate looks even better). I think a lot of it is frustration that we aren't seeing the top tier characters Marvel got from Fox (man, it seems SO long ago) and I, myself, share that frustration, BUT I'd rather wait and have the intros done right. A BP/FF tie like the ones being discussed would be pretty awesome. I think, given Marvel's track record, we just need to be patient and trust the process. The last thing we need is another (not so) Fantastic (don't remember where the 4 went and, honestly, have never even seen the movie).
I agree. Phase IV has been interesting and for the most part good. Interesting and different. Not perfect but a good departure from what we got before to keep things fresh.

I'd much rather meet MCU Doom in an extended MCU movie than in an MCU FF movie. He's so much more than just an FF villain. BP's intro in Cap:CW was absolutely perfect and made me so much more excited to see him in his own movie. Doom in BP2 would be awesome. Same for Rogue in a Captain Marvel movie or DD in No Way Home.

From a recent No Way Home junket interview from yesterday:

Maybe…just maybe we will get that answer in a No Way Home post credit scene, and perhaps the buyer could very well be everyone’s favorite elastic genius. Fingers crossed, but I’ve become jaded now and still expect we’ll get zero F4 teases in Spider-Man No Way Home, but a man can dream, can’t he?

I’m not sure why people keep implying Reed owns it. He never owned the Baxter building.

And yes, I hope it is the Baxter Building and I hope Reed doesn’t own it.

There were some funny scenes early on when they clashed with the landlord.
But IIRC Richards does currently own the Baxter Building in the comics.

How reliable are they? Have any of their previous rumors been revealed to be true?

I have no idea if this is credible, but here’s hoping.

MCU Fantastic Four Movie Cast Announcement Coming Soon - Small Screen

Let's be real. If Krasinski is announced as Reed Richards the internet will go nuts.

The hype it would generate for the movie would rival No Way Home's. All people would be talking about for the next 2 years is "that MCU Fantastic Four movie starring John Krasinski." It would overshadow EVERYTHING else.

To think he was a finalist for Cap at one point. Dude was always destined for the MCU.

i’m hoping someone ekse can commet, because I have no idea.

I’m optimistic because this is the kind of vague, broad, non-specific thing that a lot of low-level people would be aware was going on.

When I see people claiming to offer detailed plot points that only the inner circle would know, I dismiss them as click-bait because with those things, those who know aren’t talking and those that are talking don’t know.

While I have no idea whether or not this is true, I'm at least glad to even hear a rumor. I think it may be correct because they have to give us "something" at "some" point. All we really know, I think, is the director.

It's also interesting that Emily Blunt has a working relationship with Disney. She was in Mary Poppins Returns and Jungle Cruise, just off the top of my head. She could bring that motherly aspect of Sue to the role.

I'd like to see them bring in Franklin and Val to the MCU sooner rather than later too, but maybe it's better not to rush it. Part of it depends on if they go with the FF as an old established team or as up and comers. If it's the former, maybe the first movie can be told in flashback to their early career, then zoom to the present where they have two kids. Might be too much to cram into one movie though, and what do you do with Doom? He would have to be in a flashback but using him again as the main villain would be overdoing it.

Krasinski was almost Cap. Blunt was almost Widow. It's just meant to be IMO. Their relationship with Marvel got postponed and all for the best.

I'd rather not have Doom be the villain. Preferably Moleman and a ripped from the comic fight onscreen that brings FF #1 to life.

Agree I'd rather not have Doom as the villain. He should be in the movie though. The only problem I have with Mole Man is he doesn't come off as a very credible threat to the team IMO.

Maybe have Moleman as the current foe to bring down but Kang in the background. So basically what Ultron was for 2 hours and then Kang as the coming threat leading into Avengers 5.

I believe MCU FF will be the final movie of Phase IV.

Tom Holland talks about the possibility of cameoing as Spider-Man in Fantastic Four:

It’s starts at the 4:48 mark:

Do anyone of you want or wouldn’t mind any MCU characters in the film? I wouldn’t mind Watts putting Spider-Man in it as long as he doesn’t overshadow the F4.

I'd almost be disappointed if Spider-Man wasn't in it. Just for a cameo though, I don't want him in there for half the film or anything like that. There was that classic early Lee/Kirby issue where Spider-Man tried to join the Fantastic Four, but leaves when he finds out it doesn't pay a salary. Funny thing is, years later it was revealed all the members do receive a salary, profits taken from Reed's inventions. But at that point that hadn't been set up yet.

Spider-Man and the Human Torch are also famously long time friends/rivals. I'd like to see someone cast as the Torch who is close enough to Tom Holland's age to make that believable.

I have a feeling his comments have more to do with Sony contracts than artistic choices - but he knows this sounds better.

I have to say this has me a little excited for what Watts will do for FF.

It’s gonna go down, but there’s zero chance the movie goes below certified fresh, which is a good sign that Watts, while I expect his F4 film won’t be great, is very unlikely to make yet another poorly reviewed F4 film like his two predecessors Story and Trank have. What actually excites me isn’t just the high RT score, but consensus seems to be that Watts has upped his game visually, and this is one of best shot MCU films. Which I have to say bodes rather well for Fantastic Four, which absolutely demands great visuals. Here’s hoping Watts brings the same energy he brought to this movie to Fantastic Four.

Yeah, the previous Spidey films didn’t convince me Watts could do FF, but part of that is they were designed to be smaller films with a very different type of hero.

It’s not just that the film is being praised but the type of praise it is receiving as a bigger film than the others that still maintains the heart - and that’s exactly what I want for FF.

That's one thing I want to see from the new Fantastic Four movie - a bigger film. As has been said, the subject matter demands it. But I always got the feeling with the others that the movies were on a tight budget, and you didn't get to see all the superhero action you were craving. Even the smaller MCU movies have a lot of action and special effects, so that shouldn't be a problem. Unless of course they go into a drought.
