Fantastic Four General News & Discussion Thread (TAG SPOILERS)

Sure, have them rip off Rick and Morty :cwink:

The Council of Reeds predates the Council of Ricks by three years lol it was first introduced in Hickman's FF #3 (2011)

Its crazy that we ended up getting Waldron to introduce Reed into the MCU after having based so much of his Rick & Morty content on Hickman's FF including the Council of Ricks.

:funny:Did that seem a transparent “we don’t want to spend the money on CGI” move to everyone else as much as it felt that way to me?
I mean if you can't afford to make an Inhumans series, don't make one.

I was making a joke, as noted by the winky face. But I didn't know Rick and Morty was based in part on Hickman's FF, even though I had noted the similarities. That's pretty cool.

.

Such a waste. With the IMAX thing, it seemed like they were on to an intriguing new model - a TV show that was of such quality it was worthy of theater viewing.

And if they actually invested in it, maybe it could have worked.

But then, inexplicably, they gave us that big ball of nothing that wasn’t only unworthy of being in theaters, but was cheap and poorly executed even for a TV show.

At least now, with Disney +, they’re more able to create something that bridges the gap between film and TV show.

I've always thought the Inhumans made better supporting characters than leading characters.
It would be cool to see Crystal as an early girlfriend for Johnny Storm, but that's probably hoping for too much. Like maybe if the Inhumans get a series, the Torch could have guest appearances being with Crystal. Tell the story there instead of in the FF film.

But while I’d like the Lee/Kirby influence, I’d like a gestalt that takes elements from all 60+ years. The best elements over that span are consistent in themes and characters.

You mean Henry Cavill's character from the Witcher?

 I think a big part of Fox’s problem is they didn’t have the imagination to use the old stories and bring them up to date (but I think the old stories used such simple, timeless elements that it’s not really that tough for a talented writer).

I think Fox looked at Ultimate FF and said “Okay, this is modern. People don’t wear hats or make sexist comments. Galactus is a swarm instead of a purple giant. We can work with this.”

the swarm or big generic cloud is kinda like what SNyder did to the big tentacled alien at the end of Watchmen - instead of using an alien they just did nothing - i dont even remember what they did it was unforgettable

While we're talking about things we want, here's one I think is a no-brainer and would get the crowds SCREAMING. As an end credits scene to MCU Fantastic Four, have Reed
(Krasinski)
transport himself to a super advanced lab somewhere where six men stand around a table. An older man at the head of the table says to him "took you long enough." The men then get close-up reveals, one by one. Five are wearing different variations of the FF suits with different designs of the "4" symbol on their respective chests. The sixth man is wearing a suit.

The men around the table:

1. The older man who greeted 616 Reed is Alex Hyde-White.
2. Ioan Gruffoud
3. Miles Teller
4. Jonathan Majors
5. John Krasinski (clean shaven, wearing a white Future Foundation suit)
6. Mads Mikkelsen (wearing a navy blue two-piece suit with a "4" lapel pin)

Alex Hyde-White then says "Let the Council of Reeds commence session."

Cut to black.

i think you just won the internet. that is a F4NT4STIC suggestion

I don’t know how credible it is, but I read recently they’re working on an Inhumans reboot for Disney +.

I’d love to see them tie such an effort to the FF by either introducing the Inhumans in an FF film prior to the series, or having some FF characters guest starring in the series.

That wasn’t an option with the first series, but is now.

that way they could redeem Black Bolt

The film hasn't even been out for a month yet. I would say no. Plus the title to the article is simply:
Fantastic Four: A Complicated Cinematic Flashback — And Why Fans Are Elated for Group’s Future Following ‘Doctor Strange 2’
I like this quote from the article, which is similar to what I've been saying all along:
"The Fantastic Four is the cornerstone of Marvel’s very existence; without the success of the comic in the years immediately following its 1961 debut, there would be no Iron Man, Thor, no X-Men, or the majority of characters populating the MCU as movie audiences know it today. (Black Panther, the Inhumans, and WandaVision’s Agatha Harkness all specifically debuted in the Fantastic Four comic itself.) For close to a decade, Fantastic Four was the flagship Marvel title, establishing the humor, adventure and imagination fans could expect from the publisher, and revolutionizing the entire superhero genre in the process."

The importance of the book is really unique. If Marvel doesn't give them the respect they deserve, I'm not going to be happy.

The fact that Marvel has both the FF and X-Men in their arsenal means there is a TON of potential over the next 5-10 years. I could see Marvel being even bigger than it is now. They might not have a 3B movie, but could have a lot of them between 1 and 2B. That could become the new norm and, someday, that "biggest blockbuster of all time" title "could" be worn by another.

great point. I think they will be bigger IF they do crossovers.

Crossovers between Fantastic Four, X-Men, X-Factor (with Deadpool), Avengers (including the West Coast with Black Knight), as well as Guardians, and perhaps the Inhumans, Midnight Sons (Blade, Ghost Rider, Daredevil,? Doctor Strange, Morbius etc) will become something of the norm and expected - which makes me froth at the mouth. I am not so big on the Eternals, but they are there (if needed) too lol.

Stark Bauer: "Guys, the Fantastic Four sequel is gonna have not just Hulk vs. Thing but Spider-Man is gonna team up with them and they will be fighting Doom AND Magneto!"

"The X-Men sequel is going to have all the members of the Fantastic Four, Ghost Rider, Daredevil, and Spider-Man facing off against the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants, HYDRA, and Mephisto."

"Secret Wars is literally gonna have everyone in the MCU - yes even Howard The Duck and Rom The Space Knight (is it just me but Rom has a lot of potential in this age of Anime and robots)"

It just writes itself. Feige would be insane not to do more crossovers with what are arguably the most famous comic book teams on the big screen and in pop culture.

If we ever get a Marvel vs DC movie i think the internet would break lol

And Marvel would get most of the dough. :funny:
If I was head of Disney I would be negotiating a way to acquire DC characters/rights

regarding Voldemort - what did they just wrap? Fantastic Four auditions? lol

Since it seems almost a given to me that Krasinski will be Reed Richards, I think it increases the chances dramatically that his wife will play, you know, his wife. People say that Blunt isn't interested, but I think that might be cover. I know it's sheer speculation, but it doesn't seem like much of a stretch. If she was going around saying "yes, yes, yes. I want to play Sue, it would be all over but the shouting.

They always say they're not interested or that they haven't heard anything. The literally lie to protect the announcement. It's just how the game is played.

That's basically what I was getting at. What actors say about these particular types of movies (Marvel freaking LOVES to keep casting close to the vest) doesn't phase me one way or the other.

i see what you did there.

Well in all honesty, Emily Blunt has been quite silent in the headlines. One could say that lately, she has been largely invisible.
