Superhero Cinematic Civil War - Part 58

I can see that. But Hulk has been in the MCU since 2008. Certainly has been more developed than Clint, who just did the same honors recently. I think it is justified

To be honest I don’t think I like it with Hawkeye either, (not that I especially like Ultimates inspired take that is the MCU Hawkeye).

Probably to a smaller degree because Hawkeye’s never had as big of a mythology behind him that the Hulk has, he’s pretty deeply intertwined with the Avengers legacy, but I definitely feel like Clint Barton was a missed opportunity as well.

I agree that the Hulk mythology has not been done justice in the MCU. We can thank the overlords at Universal and Disney for that situation. But I am hoping that it is better late than never.

I think I’d be thrilled to death if they announced another Hulk solo at the end of this series, I’m not expecting it, but I’d love to see it.

Realistically I think in terms of Hulk “lore” in She-Hulk Blonsky’s probably going to be it. So I just hope he’s a character we see continue on after all of this.

After watching the full trailer...Dodgy CGI aside, She-Hulk looks like it'll be pretty fun. The CGI is just so distractingly bad though. I'd rather CW levels bad because that's just so bad it's not distracting :funny:

Not sure why Bruce is back to Professor Hulk or whatever after Shang-Chi though. Hopefully that's addressed in the show

In She-Hulk, that is prob true. Hoping maybe the Leader squeeks in there somehow. At least so we can find out what happened to him. I don't count tie-in comics. More so, I am just hoping more Hulk stuff finds its way into the MCU. She-Hulk or elsewhere

She Hulk does bring up a good point. Why are adult orphans always superheroes? :o

I’d like to see the Leader return, but I’m not sure if he’d work unless they give it the proper space. Like, if he’s just a cameo in a cell somewhere I’m not sure I’d get much out of that.

I dunno, I hope the World War Hulk rumour pans out. A lot of this stuff needs to be center stage rather than props for someone else’s story.

Is it development if in 2 of the biggest movies ever, there are 2 MASSIVE plot holes involving your character that never gets explained?

Hulk's really been all over the place in the MCU. I've loved him in the first Avengers and Ragnarok but he was one of the few characters that I felt like the Russos didn't really know what to do with in their Avengers movies apart from giving him the honor of bringing everyone back from the Snap.
Those are by far the best 2 performances from Hulk. IW missing out his arc was very disappointing and feels even more pointless watching back.

I don't feel I have any firm expectations from She-Hulk so I'll wait and see how it turns out, but the idea with a lawyer for super powered people is certainly something that could be fun.

The effects aren't top notch, which was something I kind of expected since there was a clear risk of that this show could mean a lot of screen time with expensive and relatively difficult effects. I grew up watching a lot of 80s films though so I know how to immerse myself in worse effects. As long as the important stuff is good it will be fine, although if it isn't the effect flaws may be more apparent but it won't be the biggest issue anyway. To use James Cameron as an example; I'll take The Terminator over Avatar any day of the week.

On a side note, while She-Hulk doesn't have a big presence in pop culture in Sweden she actually had her own translated comic here for a while (in the 80s I think), which is something that Wonder Woman never had. Before the film era She-Hulk was one of the best known female superheroes here.

Just give me a Harvey Birdman-style show with Marvel characters instead of Hanna-Barbera, and it will win every Emmy and possibly some Grammys. Definitely a Peabody, too.

You got me thinking. Imagine if they gave Deadpool a Space Ghost Coast To Coast style talk show in the MCU?

That would be hilarious.

A weekly Disney+ show where Deadpool interviews the MCU actors, but he alternates between questions about their real lives, and questions about the films as if their events really happened. And the actors just grow increasingly confused. I'd bite on a yearly sub for that.

Unfortunately with the Terminator Avatar comparison, I think for me this would be equivalent to Avatar with the original Hulk show equivalent to Terminator.

My comparison was just to make a point about that bad effects don't prevent me from enjoying something by themselves. I'm not drawing any conclusions on whether the She-Hulk show delivers any quality in the other areas yet. I think the Hulk show had a different sort of effects issue than The Terminator though, as it wasn't so much about things not looking great but rather that the limitations made them unable to even try to portray the character as he was established. That can be the issue of adapting an already existing IP.

I am not good at critiquing onscreen CGI except when it's egregiously poor such as the Dueling Panther battle. But Ms. Maslany did look a smidge Uncanny Vally-ish in the trailer. Which is odd because I think CGI Ruffalo looks good to me. I'm wondering if depicting him is less of a challenge because Marvel Studios has saved imagery from prior films. It could also be that wrinkled and stubbled faces of Hulk and Thanos come off as more realistic than Tatiana's (Hey, that's almost Titania!) relatively smooth visage. She may look more real after some post fight facial trauma.

I feel the same way after having slept on it.

The show looks like good silly fun. Clearly Disney is going after a slightly different demographic here, which you can't really blame them for. Viewer variety is the name-of-the-game after all, and will hopefully strengthen the Marvel brand over time.

As for the show itself, the concept of a super-powered lawyer defending other super-powered clients definitely has some potential. If Marvel does this right, we might get some really cool cameos from minor characters who haven't made their MCU debut as of yet.

And no I don't mean mutants, so don't lose your **** peeps :funny:

OMG I am in love with this idea. For once, I am truly hoping Marvel has scouts monitoring these forums for content because that concept is GOLD.
