Eternals The Eternals General Disscussion and Speculation thread

I'm not seeing the article or any source say that.

Not saying it's 100% not true but yeah I don't see anything on Deadline or anywhere corroborating that yet

omg a troll account.. The tweet was from @discuusingfilm... with the same design like the original page. Sorry. :O

I might do a rewatch of this movie soon. I have been thinking about it lately and feel like enough time has passed since I last watched it that I can go in with fresh eyes. Maybe I will feel about it differently.

Because thats what happens when you actually shoot on location and not on a soundstage like the rest of the MCU movies.

I actually watched this one twice and felt like it flowed better the second time. It was a pretty complex movie and my first viewing felt like there were a lot of bumpy spots and flow problems

Yeah I will definitely give this a second go around pretty soon

Unusual for me but, with the exception of No Way Home, I've seen every Phase 4 project only once. I'm saving the rewatches for later on.
I'm actually looking forward to revisiting things like Eternals, which I liked but didn't love.

I have wanting to watch this one again also recently but despite having D+ I am waiting for the 4K release to go cheaper.

Its also got a relatively large main cast, with at least thirteen "main" characters who have names and multiple scenes, plus a few voice roles. That probably doesn't help.

They definitely wanted to use Harry Styles and they will get a lot of his fans on board at least. Separately I have a feeling the second film if it happens will be much better without having to do all that historical setup.

Marvel never confirmed that? I hope Oswalt is correct. I want a sequel. I liked Eternals
Maybe Oswalt was too busy promoting Sandman that he assumed Eternals 2 was one of the many projects announced at SDCC lol.

We have had those rumors about Harry Styles signing a 5 film deal or whatever, and that Feige said Pip and Eros would come back. But never an Eternals 2 announcement. But I mean....I hope Oswalt is right, lol

Oswalt is pretty specific about more adventure for Styles and his characters so it seems to be more an unintentional leak assuming it was announced at SDCC or something.

I personally love to see it happen since the film is among my top tiered MCU projects but I can see some would be up in arms yelling at the cloud “why?! No one asks for this!”

I actually liked the historical setup. It made everything seem so big and epic. What I wasn’t a fan of was how long it took them to regroup in the present day. I remember looking at my watch a couple of times. The movie dragged quite a bit. Hopefully the sequel is tighter. Keep the same grand, epic feel but definitely tighten the script

I also liked the history - was more thinking of how other people would view it given many didn’t like the film or were mixed on it. The only issue I had with all of that was the pacing seemed off (and I’m not normally someone who is that bothered about pacing) as a result of jumping about. Yes exactly, it took a long time to get to the here and now full on. I’d love it if Chloe Zhao can come back and deliver a winner that is well received across the board as there were many good ingredients here and I also liked a lot of the cast.

Just saw the article on the homepage Isaac and Oswalt Tease the Future of Moon Knight and Eternals
a piece from the article
Meanwhile, an Eternals sequel has been a less likely prospect ever since the original movie hit theaters last year. Jack Kirby’s immortal superheroes managed to rake in over $400 million worldwide, so it wasn’t exactly a box office bomb. But it is one of the MCU’s lowest-grossing efforts. And while not without its defenders, Eternals also received some of the most middling reviews in the history of the franchise. Regardless, the film’s two cliffhanger endings – one of which introduced Oswalt’s Pip the Troll alongside Harry Styles as Eros/Starfox – implied that we haven’t seen the last of its characters. In fact, Oswalt appeared to confirm as much during a recent appearance on NBC’s Today.
I know they are saying it was Kirby's creation, but the eternals we got was not Kirby's it was Gaiman's version. Kirby's Eternals are from Earth and were created by the Celestials experimenting on the primates. It sort of creates our missing link of how man evolved from primate to human. The Celestials are the missing link. Also we got more Kirby design from Thor ragnarok and Guardians of the Galaxy than we did from The Eternals movie. Just look at the plain ship they flew compared to what Kirby drew for the celestial host ship. Also look at the Celestials themselves in the movie compared to what we have already seen in GOTG. This version of the eternals was not Kirby by design or by story. I still think the Kirby version is the way to do the Eternals.

I keep coming back to this movie and thinking how much of a disappointment it is/was to a lot of people. This was being marketed as something different from the rest of the MCU, even had people from the inside telling John Campea Marvel felt this was the best film they ever made. I really don't know how they thought that when their crowning achievement is the Avengers films and Black Panther. I don't hate this film and I would say it doesn't deserve to be rotten but it really was a MASSIVE miss. I keep seeing the comparison to Ultron where people dislike it but warm up to it later. I don't know if this film will get that aging because people aren't attached to these Characters the way people were attached to Tony, Cap, Thor, etc. I could be wrong but that's just how I feel for now. I'm not sure if the sequel does well, could be a massive bomb for Marvel in the future. I think the days of Marvel being able to put out anything and it does great at the box office are winding down because the audience is changing since the pandemic and some people just aren't feeling this new phase so they might become more casual viewers than follow every movie like they used to. I know I'm projecting here and could be wrong.
