Grand Theft Auto IV - Part 1

This guy over at reddit installed a bunch of realism mods on the PC version and packed them so you can get them too.

It's f**king incredible. The high damage, realistic gun sounds and police actually stopping you if you violate traffic laws or walk around with a gun make the whole game crazy. The chases are way more intense too coz cars take more damage and most pedestrians lock their car doors, so when you wreck a car it's nerve-wracking to find another set of wheels when you can get gunned down in 3 hits. :D

yeah but we are all forgetting the funnest parts of GTA San Andreas....working out and getting buff...and working on your running speed...your hunger...actually having to look out for your character or he'd get fat...getting haircuts...several...i mean SEVERAL clothing options...controlling parts of cities...things that made me play GTA SA for a whole year just because it was electric and exciting...bicycles...planes...garages to store cars...an awesome main character (imo)
there was so much to do...no matter how bad the graphics are now...thats the best gta to date...it had one of the biggest maps ever and so much to explore...
do a game similar to that and add more buildings to walk into instead of just food places...like la noire where you can walk into a lot of places keep the cell phone idea from IV...and you have a near perfect game.
word. loved that game, never even finished it, haha.

Btw, Master Chief, any links to vids of that mod? Sounds pretty cool, I'm curious how it looks.

I'd have a six star wanted level throughout the entire game.

Everyone would. Have you ever tried stopping at every light and not mounting sidewalks in GTA? It gets real boring, real fast.

Hahah yeah I had to uninstall that mod. It's too realistic. :o It makes missions where you have to drive fast more intense though, coz you're trying not to catch the attention of the police on top of whatever else you're doing. What makes it even better is cops will notice your car if you don't switch vehicles even after your wanted level is gone.

I put together a quick vid showing most of the features.

IF I buy the episodes of liberty city game discs and get rid of my old GTA IV then will the saves remain IF I keep them?,Idonwloaded the ballad of gay tony from the market place and so will I be able to use my save for the disk?

According to rumours, GTA IV remaster is in the works!

i believe it just because they remastered 3, V, Vice City and San Andreas.

It would be odd if Rockstar doesn't remaster IV, Xpecially its easy money for them.

I got money waiting for that future preorder when they ready to announce it.

It is rumoured to be coming with two games. I'm assuming its the dlcs.

Its finally time that all five main games are playable in Ps4/5.

Would be coolif they ported Liberty City Stories and Vice City Stories too, as I've played those two before in ps2.

I loved the GTA Stories games and I’m also hoping they remaster them.

That Phil Collins concert mission in Vice City Stories felt like a fever dream.
Yeah that was a dope mission. GTA and Tarzan made me love Phil Collins and also that song he did with Bone Thugs lol.

Maybe the GTA trilogy wouldn't have been poorly received if R* had done literally anything different with their approach to the project. Handing off remasters of the games that put them on the map to an incompetent smaller studio, who had already proven they weren't even qualified to port their games to other platforms without serious issues was a baffling move. If R* themselves had put a sliver of effort into the trilogy remasters they would've been an easy win.

They should have started with the GTA IV and RDR remasters to begin with. Nothing extra, no upgrading elements from GTA V or RDR2, just upped to 4K resolution. I think more people would have wanted that than needless remakes of the GTA trilogy when they were perfectly content with playing the versions that were already widely available on the Xbox and PS online stores.

I hope that they at least make GTA IV and RDR1 available for download at some point. They can still be in 1080 for all I care, I just want to be able to play them non-streaming on a current gen console.

I just don't understand why wouldnt they port it, its like as if they know if they remaster it, it would be as bad as the remaster for the Trilogy. Plus that remaster still sold well.

I don't eXpect a great remaster but just let us who those didn't have a ps3/360 to play itin Ps4 and 5.

I really can't think of any good reason why they couldn't just outsource a 4k 60fps port of IV to an actually competent team if they really don't want to put effort in themselves, there is a middle ground between doing it themselves and hiring a team of inept mobile devs. I can maybe forgive RDR since the code is apparently a mess, but even then at this point it just feels lazy.

Knee-jerk theory: they don't want to do rereleases of their old games because those games aren't loaded down with multiplayer DLC MTX like GTA5 and RDR2 are. Rockstar wants people buying *those* games, instead, and views their own older products as undesired competition.

I think you’re onto something there. :csad:

Quite possible, but they'd still easily make back the production and marketing budget on sales if they were to rerelease GTA IV and RDR 1.

Sure, they easily could, but they don't want to encourage their customers to do that. Buying a GTA4 rerelease would mean giving Rockstar money once. They instead want customers to buy games where they pay once, and then are continually encouraged to pay more money again anyway. Its not just what makes money, or even how much money, but on what kind of market behavior they want to foster.

After the crappy job Rockstar did with the GTA Trilogy remaster, I’m glad they decided to sweep the Red Dead & GTA4 remasters under the rug and instead focus on GTA6. They should have been doing this from the very beginning.

I think far more likely, they took a major PR hit on the poor reception of the Trilogy Remaster (and then lost unplanned dev time trying to patch and fix it). I would guess they could see internally that GTA IV & RDR weren't going to be much better in terms of what audiences were expecting and cut their losses. Why invest resources into more bad PR when they could double their efforts on the next BIG thing?
