Did you just call Led Zeppelin's Immigrant Song, an 80s pop song? What about that 1970 song, is "pop" exactly? Is it the lyrics about Valhalla? The electric guitar? The drum and bass?

70's, 80's.

You know what I mean. It's been a long day for me Skywalker.

The notion that Cavill thinks he's in any position to demand anything from the studio is hilarious. :funny: His Superman wasn't well received and he owes his career to the role.

From an acting and talent standpoint he's easily replaceable. The guy's a block a wood and his Superman was dull as dishwater. He's got a great look but that's it. He's got nothing else.

Its simple, he is not as free as when he first got the roll. Witcher is a big time commitment, and that remaining free time is going to cost. Yes, he is in a position to demand the money, because he has that Netflix money.

Eh, his financial security via Netflix aside, he's still not in a position to make (allegedly) large demands for Superman because... he's already played the role three times and each was met by indifference from the GA. WB knows that. They're not going to overpay him for a role they're not even sure they want him to have.

Anyone else getting a bit worried at how compressed Marvel's marketing pushes for their films are now? They used to release things like 5-6 months out which built the hype initially and then did periodic releases until the final marketing push over the last month. Doctor Strange 2 got a nice run-up in its marketing due to being tied to NWH but they've rushed everything else in Phase 4 into a 2 month period of time like they're doing with Thor 4. We're now just over 3 months out from BP2 and we've yet to see anything from Marvel yet. It's like they don't know how to market their films after the pandemic or are way too focused on their Disney+ shows to do proper campaigns any more and think the movies will almost sell themselves. Really feels like they're losing box office money by not reverting back to something close to their old model of promotion.

They have essentially adopted the streaming service advertising policy. A part of this is also due to Disney's new theatrical strategy, in releasing only big name stuff.

Not sure it's the smartest strategy though. Traditional marketing blitzes still work (just look at Top Gun: Maverick) so it'd be unwise to just go with the streaming service model.

Just got out and I loved L&T! Feels like it could have done with a few more bridging scenes and a bit more breathing room but I enjoyed it all the way through. Ragnarok is my joint favourite “solo” MCU film and there are some things this film does better and some things Ragnarok does better.

Portman made a big contribution and after all my excitement since it was announced she was returning in a big way, she really delivered on everything I wanted from her. Valkyrie was better than we’ve seen before. Bale’s Gorr was a good villain and it would have been good to get more from him.

There’s plenty of comedy here but the jokes landed for me and also weren’t misplaced, allowing for some very good emotional scenes.

I love Taika’s magic and will be seeing this again for sure.

Everything I wanted from Cap was given to me in Winter Soldier (well minus the physical wings :D ). There’s a lot I like about TFA but I only rate it overall about a 7/10. Good for sure and also a solid origin film, but otherwise not pushing for higher tier MCU for me.

Reason it's high on my list is the setting I'm a sucker for 1940's NY :hrt: and someone who doesn't get talked about enough in that movie is Tommy Lee Jones he was good got to appreciate when u get good Tommy Lee Jones lol

Yeah that's about how I'd some up TFA (and honestly a lot of MCU movies in general). A lot to like and around 7/10 although I try not to give number ratings anymore

It's very good up until the soldier rescue stuff. And then soldier rescue set piece is good. Then after that it really dipped. I also think Peggy Carter was really good but the MCU really needed to let her go.

I would've loved more Cap movies set in WWII but I get why we didn't get them

Tommy Lee Jones was hilarious in that movie.

"Do you know how hard it is to get a prime cut like that out there?"

"star and spangled man with a plan...what is your plan today?"

All his dialogue was gold :)

Why people keep paying attention to boggles my mind, especially with how often she's been wrong in providing scoops. It's almost like studios use her as a landing place for certain "leaks" to expose leakers within their companies.
To me it's not even that, for people who claim to dislike her and think she's bad they bring her up a lot. I feel like everything I hear about her is against my will and comes from people going "*Scoff* Can you believe what Grace Randolph posted?"

I feel like she wouldn't be brought up as much and as widespread if the people who claim to not like her stop bringing her up

If you don't like her, don't pay her any mind .

Yeah the obsession with Peggy bothers me
The end of Cap was touching, yes, but I don't like him being hung up on her for the next 80 years
Would've been much happier if they had developed his relationship with Sharon more and he settled down with her at the end

Yeah it dips later in the film but young Steve and Peggy were great. Haha, I wanted the opposite and would have loved more modern day Cap movies as it feels like we only got Winter Solider while Civil War was really an overall MCU event film not focusing all that much on Cap's direct issues.

I’m fairly certain Tommy Lee’s agent told him he was signing up for a legit WWII piece and then once he started seeing Chris Evans on set in an American Flag costume was probably like, “wait what in the Sam Hill..?”

More, maybe. Idk. It’s tonally different. Like, Ragnarok felt like Taika’s humor applied to an MCU movie, while this feels more like a straight-up Taika film with some MCU elements thrown in, if that makes any sense.
I read this and another post of yours which I can't find before going in and I was thinking exactly the same throughout.

It's the price of the constraint of CBM telling. Civil War in 2016, IW in 2018 & EG in 2019. You weren't going to squeeze in a Captain America 4 in that time frame and even if you rewrote EG so that it showed he was with Sharon after the blip, the Peggy ending allows them to move on from Cap. It's hard to picture Cap sitting on the sidelines.
