Captain America: Brave New World - News & Speculation Thread

I'm predicting they're gonna recast Elijah Bradley with Kelvin Harrison Jr. just like how they did with Cassie Lang since he's already worked with Julius Onah on Luce.

And i'm just assuming they're gonna have Elijah Bradley in the first place.
Kelvin Harrison Jr is almost a full decade older than the kid who played Elijah in the show. He's almost 30. It will be interesting to see if they tie the Bradleys into the story. Maybe Power Broker wants to use test them to try and recreate the super soldier serum?

Either way, I definitely think PB/Sharon is the villain here. The commodification of superpowers definitely fits with the 'New World Order' narrative.

Power Broker as the main villain with Doom pulling the strings.

If they don't do this in the movie then I want my money back. :o

If this is true, what do you think will be the plot?
The only thing in the comics called the New World Order is a Red Skull organization that appeared in some Hulk comics. It could be a Dell Rusk situation I guess, but I doubt they'll go for Red Skull and Hydra again. Could also be Serpent Society maybe?
They could get Ruth Wilson as Sin and make her the Red Skull's granddaughter who idolized him. Wilson was offered a Marvel role before so someone there must like her.

Have Sin play the Secretary of Defense Dell Rusk role in a Avengers Red Zone inspired plot. The whole pandemic element also seem very relevant to the current times we are living in.

Sin leading the new world order cabal would be cool. It sucks they killed off Crossbones because I would of liked to see him leading his supervillain team the skeleton crew against Sam's cap.

Perhaps they could bring back a rumlow variant. Mackie and Grillo worked well together in the past.

On one hand, finally glad that they're bringing him back. On the other... why in a Captain America movie, and as the main villain no less? Unless Jen Walters and Bruce Banner are involved, this is a confusing choice.

Only thing I can think of is if they tie in back to the Super Soldier serum. Since that is tied into the Hulk and Abomination's origin. But we already got that plot in Falcon and Winter Soldier show, so.... *shrugs*

Does it make sense? Not really. Do I care? No! I would rather get The Leader, even if this isn't a Hulk film than to just let him never come back. I wish we got way more Hulk content in the MCU, but alas nothing can change how that all went down. It really for me is the most disappointing part of the MCU's history.

If they’re making him Sam’s archenemy as opposed to Bruce’s that’s going to suck terribly.

True. But I see this like I did Wenwu. I can be mad we never got Iron Man vs The Mandarin in a movie, but I am at least glad we got him period in Shang-Chi. Especially given where Hulk sequels if we ever get one appear like they will go, the Leader just isn't a fit there. It is sad, but I am glad to get him at all

I mean, you’re being awfully dismissive of the Leader aren’t you? He’s a pretty versatile character and he’s been a threat to the Hulk across many different iterations and personas. I can’t imagine that there isn’t a way to work him into the Hulk’s future, and Ruffalo’s recently said he’s in it for the long haul.

If the future is some type of World War Hulk thing, then he doesn't really fit into that

World War Hulk as it happened in the comics doesn’t really fit into the MCU, so they can take liberties. Just as they did with Civil War and Ragnarok.

You could very easily retrofit that kind of story to have the Leader as the Zemoesque villain pulling the strings of the hero v hero conflict. He’s got a history of manipulating the Sakaarian tech and that persona of Hulk for his own ends, so none of this is outside his wheelhouse.

Sure, but it clearly isn't the direction they are going. It is not me dismissing the Leader. He is a great character. But it has been apparent for quite a while that if we ever got to see the Leader, it wouldn't be in a Hulk centric property. We may have gotten that movie if the Disney deal never happened and if TIH was a bigger hit. But that ship has sailed.

I think if you’re going to use the Hulk going forward in the MCU, which they’ve indicated they are doing, then that -whatever shape or form that comes in- is a more appropriate use of the Leader than having him face off against someone else in something unrelated to Banner. Sure, he might not be the headlining villain if it’s in an Avengers project or something, but I’d sooner take him in a reduced capacity that is truthful to his role as the Hulk’s foil than just having him parcelled off to someone else.

I really likes D23 but how the things turned out, I have zero interests to this anymore. Its like they use Falcon and the Winter Soldier and took everything away that was good. Bucky and Walker are gone, Zemo not a part of this.

Everything left is Sam with his boat, a boring sidekick and an extreme underwhelming villain (for me). Maybe Isaiah Bradley can spice some things up, but not under Malcolm Spellman. :csad:

Leader appearing here doesn't prevent him from showing up in something Hulk related in the future (assuming they don't kill him off by the end of Cap 4). They put Kang in Ant-Man 4, and that clearly isn't the end for him as an mcu villain.

I love the character of the Leader, but I’m not going to for a second think that he’s got the same level of relevance to the shared universe (and plot armour) as Kang.
