NFL - Game On

Deion Sanders calls out quality of NFL Hall of Fame: 'My head don't belong with some of these other heads'

This really makes Deion look pretty full of himself. But that said…he is right. I enjoyed guys like Boselli and Bryant Young, but they were more Pro Bowlers, and it is hard to really consider them elite, all-time greats. They were not really game changers. Whereas guys like Deion were.

I think we all understand that there are levels to this thing even within the hall of fame. I hope Deion does too.

But the NFL's hof has been known to be the hardest to get into. I think Deion is saying that its getting too "easy" to get in.

Watch what he has to say when Eli gets in.

Deion was ALWAYS an arrogant ****. That being said, WRT his skill as a football player, you can't really blame him. He was one of the very, very best who ever played the game. In this case, I think his ego is interrupting his brain. There are a LOT of the truly all-time greats who aren't shooting their mouths off about this. If you can get into the Pro Football HoF, you've done some outstanding work. Let's just leave it at that and avoid making an ass out of yourself publicly.

I wish he was as good of a person as he was a football player.

He is a devoted Christian by all accounts. So not all that bad.

But he was a special athlete. Only he and Bo Jackson had the distinction of excelling at two professional sports.

well, I’m not gonna get into that, but I don’t think the Bible teaches you to have an ego bigger than the North American continent. No one is perfect, but I’ve known a lot of “good“ Christians who can’t hold a candle to non-believers. And vice versa.

He bet shut is mouth when that time comes :ali:

He was a great DB but I'll never forgive him for joining the cowboys and that horrendous music video he did

Wait, are you saying you think Eli should be in the HoF?

I don’t think it’s outrageous to believe that Eli belongs in the Hall of Fame and wouldn’t be outraged if he got in. If you look at it from a stat perspective alone, his career stats approach Dan Marino‘s. I’m not saying I think he’s in Dan Marino‘s class, but just pointing out a particular perspective that some can take. In addition, he came up big at the end of two Super Bowls and I know that counts for a lot in some people‘s minds for quite a bit. That being said, if I’ve got to pick a quarterback between the two that is going to put the team on his shoulders and win a game on that final drive, I’m taking Dan all day long, all week long, all month long, all life long.

I believe Eli will get in.

Oh man comparing Eli to Dan is so disrespectful to us Dolphins fans lol.

Ok seriously though, I can only remember one year that I thought Eli was a top 5 QB.

Of course, no one can ever take away Eli outplaying Tom on his way to 2 SB MVPs, wrecking a perfect season to add insult to injury.

Players though will tell you that Hall of Famers are the ones who dominated the whole way, not just in "moments".

I think you need to read what I wrote a little bit more closely. You can compare anybody to anybody and if you think that I put Eli in Dan’s class in that particular post, well, I’d just respectfully disagree.

Im pretty sure I read what you wrote correctly. I addressed your Marino comments in a joking manner and then I got serious about Eli's qualifications. What did I miss?

Nothing. I missed the joking part. I can’t tell you how many times I watched Dan Marino late in the fourth quarter and thought “that dude is just gonna win it all by himself“. He would stick a football through a hole the size of a grape and complete a clutch pass. He couldn’t move like Elway and some people may be underrate him, but that guy was money at the end of the game. If he had a team around him like Brady did, he’d have a boatload full of Super Bowls.

Edit: Dan just lacked confidence in his ability to complete a clutch pass. Lol

Marino was god-mode, especially when he came into the league as a swaggering rookie in 1984. The Dolphins front office never gave him a decent RB or a decent defense, and thats pretty much why he never won a SB.

But in terms of a pure passer, I don't think I've ever seen a more impressive player than a young Marino. Not Brady, not Manning either.

Yeah. Dan didn't have the mobility of a guy like Elway, but both of them had absolute shotguns for arms. The thing about Dan though is that he got rid of the ball in about a nanosecond and was on the dot accurate from 5 to 55 yards. The only guy I can really think of today who makes those kinds of throws is maybe Aaron Rodgers. Rodgers seems to ba able to do it when he's off balance; which is something I've never understood. I would say that guys like Brady and Peyton had better command of the game, but that might not be true. Both of those guys had better teams and a bigger variety of weapons. This may be overstating it somewhat, but what Dan had was a couple of guys named Mark. You basically knew what he was going to do, but you still had a very difficult time stopping it. As good as Mahomes is, don't tell me he is anywhere near that accurate. Ditto Herbert (who I really like as a player) and Burrow.

Wow the NFL really settled matters with Watson. Cant really complain about what they came down with.

Wait, are you saying you think Eli should be in the HoF?

of course i do i'm a new yorker so naturally Gmen are my squad of course he don't deserve first ballot but he will get in and deservingly so he's top 10 in all the major stats and did it for a flagship franchise and New York market NO WAY HE DOESN'T GET IN

New York Giants will make sure of that

57k yards and 350+ TD's

if his last name was Smith he would get more recognition he was constantly compared to Peyton and that wasn't fair Peyton changed how u play the position

Eli got his 2nd ring before Peyton just saying

Plaxico Burress cost us a back to back look at how the Giants were steamrolling teams in 08 before he shot him self in the leg started 10 - 1 and avg 200 yrd rushing we put up plus 200 against Ray lewis and Ed Reed look it up lol then he shoots himself in the leg and no more deep threat 8 men in the box and were 1 on done

then Beckham takes that boat trip and him the WR failed him in that wildcard game with GB dropping key 3rd downs and Beckham dropped a TD [reason why i hate that dude lol] playoff Eli showed up his WR didn't FACTS

Brees and Rodger sure fire Hall of Famers? 1 ring it's not easy

No freaking backbone. Pathetic, the league should be embarrassed this is the result.

F-ing hell, Watson is a garbage human being.

Taking no responsibility or remorse. So disgusting.

I got Elway as my top QB of all time, Marino release hasn't been seen since he retired
Marino plays in today's game his numbers would be absurd

the NFL is going to regret this it's disgusting you can assault woman all day but if you got skills hey here is 200 mil

:wall:

That year is exactly the year that I looked at Eli as a top 5 QB.

But its the only one.

Some years though Eli was just average.

I agree with you guys though Eli will get in.

You dont think 11 games and 5 mill is legit? What punishment were you looking for?

Ranking players is really difficult because so many factors go into making a QB great. Elway is, for sure, always part of that discussion. Mobile, hard to tackle, shotgun arm, accurate, threw well on the run, smart, etc. Better than Brady IMO, but Brady was on the right team.

For example, put Marino on the Rams and you've got a big can of whoop ass to open. Hell, put him on a lot of teams and the same can be said. Sometimes there's a lot of luck involved when you're drafted and it can translate into rings.

It should be the full year and 10M fine at a minimum. Quite frankly, I don't think he should be in the league anymore, but that was never going to happen. 26 civil suits in total. 22 still active, and the details are so freaking disgusting. Most guys get 6 games for 1 accusation. Josh Gordon's career was basically ended over weed. Watson being a predator gets a 230M guaranteed contract and loses pocket change.

11 games is a joke, but the league wants that drama of Watson's first game back being the Texans :whatever:
