It's a Bird! It's a Plane! David Corenswet IS Superman!

Jacob Elordi isn't my first choice, but I could live with him mostly because with some working out, he could be very impressive in the suit.

My two big concerns with him is that I don't think he could play two separate characters well in the movie, and I really haven't seen him ever be charming, either on screen, or in interviews.

Those were the main two reasons I so disliked Cavill's performance, besides the bad acting. I never saw Cavill play Clark differently from Superman, and I have never seen him be charming, either on screen or in interviews.

I wouldn't want to carry on that case.

Recently Elordi was quoted as saying that he believes it is time he moves on from the HBO show, Euphoria. He said he was getting to old to keep playing a high school student. Doesn't mean much, but is interesting.
He could get a really good Superman physique but in what I've seen him (haven't seen Euphoria) in he's seemed the wrong kind of cheesy for Clark. Could be convinced though.

He’s a good actor and looks the part but yeah, after giving it some thought, I don’t think he’d be a great fit.

Also rumor has it he can be difficult to work with, according to he himself

I like to watch interviews with actors to see if they give off a Supes like charm and I couldn't see it with Elordi, and sure that's not the best way to "cast" but for comparison KJ Apa is someone I'd take over Elordi just by interview personality.

Only if Apa keeps his nuclear orange hair to play Superman.

How about Darren Barnet (Never Have I Ever)? Not sure if he has the frame or the height for it but he’s a solid actor and would probably drive the ladies (and some guys) crazy. He’s my top pick for Dick Grayson but I could also see him pulling off Clark Kent, maybe.

He is 5ft10, which for me is a no, but for others he could work. Looks good, but I am a heightist when it comes to this role. I could accept it, but want six ft 2 or me.

I do know that is just me though.

Edited to add, just watched the first two episodes of "Never", and I must say he is good, and would bring some sexy to the character. Plus the show is quite good and funny

Yeah, it’s a great show; I would definitely recommend binging it. Maitreyi Ramakrishnan is fantastic as the lead and the other actors are all really good. Season 4 will be the last so I hope all the actors move on to do other great things.

New idea… I started watching Wheel of Time and Josha Stradowski caught my eye. Not sure if he can do an American accent and he would need to pack on some muscle. But with some hair dye or a good wig, he might make a good Superman. Seems like a pretty good actor, though I haven’t seen a lot of the show yet.

Youthful looking, if they made a "Superman and Me" live action(I wish they would), he could be perfect.

What about Fabien Frankel from House of the Dragon? He might be a bit of a short king but they can fix that in post :o

Maybe; I have to see him act a bit more to be sold on him. He hasn’t gotten to do much yet.

What changes should be made with Henry's Superman if any?

Dude needs to relax. He’s so stiff all the time, jaw clenching and all that. Part of Superman’s reassuring charm is that he’s got the weight of the world on his shoulders but most of the time you’d never know it, because his demeanor’s so laid back and chill. Makes you believe everything’s gonna be just fine. Henry needs some of that chill. And to find and embrace his inner dork, of course.

I don’t think he should be a dork. Even if he relaxes (which he should), he’s not gonna be able to pull that off. I think he should try and bring some of his natural charm to Superman - there were a rumors a while ago that he wanted to have some creative control if he reprised the role - and spend as little time as possible as Daily Planet Clark.

I'm sorry but that sounds kinda bad.

It is. I don’t think he’s good enough to sell any differences in personality between the identities. Unless we don’t care about that anymore, which is fine.

If I thought my interest in his Superman couldn’t get any lower, the notion that he’d want to minimize Clark at the Planet would prove me wrong.

Tbf, I don’t think he’d want to (unless the plan is to adapt the Bendis status quo). I just don’t see him being talented enough to sell the differences between the identities and would almost prefer he not try. :oldrazz:

Don’t have him try to emulate the Chris Reeves’ aloofness as Clark. Agreed; I don’t think that’s in Cavill’s wheelhouse. Model his characterization more in line with the animated series instead.

Or have him get sucked into the bottle city of Kandor half way through the film. Depowered under an artificial red sun, Kal-El leads his people in a revolt against a battalion of Brainiac drones while Supergirl steps up as hero to save the day in Metropolis against the real Brainiac. That could work as a Supergirl movie too—just depends which plot gets more focus/screen time .

When I say I want him embracing his inner dork, I'm not asking for a Reeve impression. Safe to assume I'm NEVER asking for a Reeve impression, for the record. I don't care for Reeve's Clark as I think I've made quite clear here over the years. Hoechlin's Clark Kent is perfectly dorky, and it feels 100% natural and not overdone at all. Just makes him feel more like a real person. Yes, any kind of personality like this at all may be stretch for Cavill, but it's also kinda the bare minimum the role requires, imo. Clark Kent is a dork, period. The one in STAS was too, just more of a "dad humor" dork like Hoechlin, which is great. But that dorkiness is one of Clark's most defining character traits, in any incarnation. You don't have that, you don't have the character, as far as I'm concerned.

The contrast/duality doesn't need to be a stark difference. The dude is just naturally a dork who reins it in more (but not entirely) when he's in the cape. It shouldn't be THAT hard, but Cavill IS extremely limited as a performer, so who knows. All I know is, if he's ever gonna work for me as Supes, that aspect is an absolute necessity.

I want to see MORE of Daily Planet Clark Kent. What I liked most about BvS Ultimate Edition was that they showed the investigative side of Clark. I don’t think he needs to act like a bumbling fool, though, like the Chris Reeve version. We’ve already seen that he can act normal and average and still be distinct enough from the Superman persona (like Dean Chain’s version or Tyler’s Clark). Say what you will about Cain, himself, but his Clark Kent was pretty damn good.

TBH, I think the term “dork” is being thrown around too much. I never thought of Tyler’s Clark as such. He’s just an average guy, unsuspecting. Gets lost in the crowd kind of guy. When someone says “dork” I think of Revenge of the Nerds or Reeve’s Clark. If Tyler’s Clark is considered a dork, then what does normal or average even look like?
