General PC Discussion

PC is certainly *improving* in some ways, thanks to certain developers bringing more games to it, for reasons good ( most Japanese studios ) or otherwise ( Sony ). This just doensn't fundamentally change the market dynamic: PC is more expensive and more complex than console.

PC is not "more complex" than console gaming anymore. Between Steam and Nvidia, they've made gaming on PC as easy to do as a PlayStation. While there is a higher cost of entry to PC, you will save more money in the long run. No multiplayer subscription nonsense, more than one digital storefront and you don't have publishers trying to resell you the same games every generation.

I was today years old when I found out my Xbox One X controller had bluetooth and I was able to sync it to my old windows 10 laptop and was able to play one or 2 steam games and GTA V PC using it. I just have to re sync it back to the console as I only have one of them lol.

Anyone else getting a steam deck? I've got mine paid off. Just waiting on the email.

I think I'll wait for the revision model.

I see there are some who have already installed a Switch emulator on it... :hehe:

It'll run switch games better than a switch before the end of the year, Its inevitable lmao

I’m not even contemplating buying a new GPU until the chip shortage/supply issues/scalper prices are 100% over but the minute I bought my card (2080ti) the base value/tech of cards started going through the roof. 4090 could be another big step after 3090 which was already a big step.

Nvidia’s GeForce RTX 4090 may be twice as fast as the RTX 3090

Sony's Bringing Even More PlayStation Games To PC Following Massive Success

Damn, they expect $300M in revenue from their PC releases for the 2022 fiscal year. I read they expect those numbers thanks to two unannounced games!

So far, we already know about the Uncharted Collection coming out soon. I'm wondering which games will bring in those sales later this year.

Still waiting on PC parts prices to "normalize".

Oh my friend is looking for a reasonably priced laptop or pc for gaming for his nephew, specifically to play Minecraft. Any recommendations for that? He’s in the UK if that make a a difference for parts.

GPU prices seem to go down but that's also because Nvidia is about to announce the RTX 40 series for a release later this year. However, we can also expect low stocks for some other parts due to chip shortages.

Minecraft is more demanding on the CPU than the GPU, so a laptop with a decent CPU (4 cores) will do fine. If he'll play some AAA games, make sure the laptop has a decent GPU (he may even play Minecraft with ray tracing :hehe:).

I don't know how old he is, so a laptop is probably enough especially if he mainly plays Minecraft and can be used for school.

Thanks for that. The nephew is around 10.

The RTX 40 series cards were revealed yesterday. Nvidia being damn greedy with the prices.

The 4090 is $1600, the 4080 is $900 and $1200 for the 12GB and 16GB, respectively. The 12GB one seems to be a "4070" according to its specs.

They also revealed DLSS 3.0 but it's exclusive for the RTX 40 GPUs (for now).

I’m not playing enough right now to justify it but it’s exciting to see the significant power jumps between recent cards (all started happening as soon as I finally buy one lol).

And here we go... I'm planning on building an Intel 13th Gen x RTX 40-series PC early in the new year as soon as my wife is off mat leave. I'm going to grab a Valve Index while I am at it. :D

Any particular game genres you’ll be building towards? Look forward to seeing what you come up with. :cwink:
