Cable Cord Cutters Thread: Sling, Hulu, YouTube TV, Netflix, and more!

I hadn't realized that each major carrier had at one point hitched their wagon to a streaming service. T-mobile and Netflix, Verizon and Hulu/Disney+, and AT&T and HBO Max.

Anybody have any experience cancelling an Optimum TV subscription and have any tips?

I've tried numerous times, I get put on hold and transferred a dozen times, then the call gets magically "dropped" and I have to start all over

At this point I've spent just about an entire work week trying to cancel their stupid TV service

Immediately ask for their Retention department for cancelation. If you have to say you're moving to a new area without Optimum or Suddenlink. Some people will try to call the new subscriber number which immediately gets you a sales agent, but be careful cause they're trained to up sell you rather than transfer you.

What if they buy WBD and Hulu and fold in Peacock, Hulu, and HBO Max into one giant streaming service! It will never happen but fun to think about.

That’s honestly not a bad price for something that would have content from WB and Universal
Oh, but you have to pay for the Plus tier for movies for another $10 and that's still with "limited ads". :o

Yeah for me losing ABC, FX, FOX wouldn't be worth it.

Although what use does Disney have for Hulu. They're not in the cable business and they can just roll their content into Disney+

I've heard the Comcast trying to buy WB thing. I guess we'll see. Don't think it's good but it's not as bad as Disney buying FOX

Is YouTube TV now a la carte where you can pick and choose individual networks? I don’t remember that when I used to have it.

There's just one base selection but the addons of other premium networks are pick and choose.

Can they finally ditch 480p for the base plan?

I’m going to be honest with you…I can’t really tell the difference, at least not to the point where it bothers me. It would be nice if they upgrade at the same cost but that’s not going to happen anytime soon (if they ever do).

Because i'm a fiend for high resolution and I have a giant 4k tv, I'm sticking to the premium plan.

HD should be the base plan with a single screen allowed at a time.

It sounds like the ad tier will be 480p with ads. :whatever:
