No Way Home Spider-Man: No Way Home General News & Discussion Thread (TAG SPOILERS)

Where's the Worldwide Box Office totals for the NWH re-release? The only country that hasn't gotten it yet was South Korea

I read this before, I'm probably in that thread somewhere*. He reverted the film to an earlier state before reshoots and other additions. He clearly wasn't asked, nor given the time to do an extensive extended edition, and most would agree that improving SM3 isn't a case of making it longer.

I'm almost certain that the cut of the film that Bob used as the basis for Christopher Young's score was not the version of the film that followed the original script before reshoots, the "original" version of the film is contained in the novelization. I believe Bob implied in that email (or another) that the Editor's Cut reverts to a state that existed before Raimi/Bob and the producers butted heads over what should stay in the movie and what shouldn't. The Editor's Cut still has some footage that was shot during reshoots and not principal photography.

The novelization is cool, a good read. It's not so much a reflection of the 'original film' however. Those books are generally based on the original script along with added author embellishments. What was shot will have changed from the script, what was shot will have changed once it's assembled, and the assembly cut is changed again as it is cut down into a movie. I get what you're saying however. The editor's cut does indeed seem to be the version before more studio meddling, though that was happening during the entire production, sadly.

Well of course the novelization isn't going to be 1:1 with the original script, and the original script 1:1 with what is actually filmed. The author of the novelization Peter David adapted the original script into book form, used his own interpretation of it, added some stuff that wasn't in the original script to pad out the book and to add some depth and/or clarification. However, what I meant by the "original version" being contained in the novelization is that since the novelization was based off the original script, it's the closest thing we have to seeing what the movie was originally like, barring actually having the original script.

A major change from the original script/novelization was the infamous Venom death. The death scene in the novel/script was never actually filmed, it was changed due to VFX cost and resource allocation concerns. The stock footage you see going around of the skull and rods was reference footage to see if it was possible from a budget and technical perspective, obviously it didn't end up that way, so we got the trimmed down version seen in the movie instead. The VFX artists in lieu of the original Venom death, focused their money and time on the scene where the symbiote bonds with Eddie at the Church.

I get that every filmed scene can't be added due to unfinished VFX, literally being unable to fit into the final plot, or due to containing scrapped ideas that were creatively rejected, etc. but I would still like to see an extended cut of Spider-Man 3 (keeping in mind what I said about not every filmed scene being able to be added in). There are lots of scenes that can be added or extended that wouldn't require VFX being finished like the Gwen-Eddie breakup, the full Church scene, the apartment snooping scene, and the original version of the Venom-Sandman team up without that dumb plot hole of Venom magically knowing about Sandman's daughter that literally needed a comic The Black to fix. As I'm sure you already know, part of the original Venom-Sandman team up was actually restored in the Editor's Cut, obviously with the Venom part trimmed out so it only focused on Sandman and his family.

Who you all kidding??!! Only reason Sony put out the fn cut is because möbius SUCKED so bad!! It was an easy cash grab to pump up their bottom line on their movie side!! I liked it but c’mon now

That's actually not true. There were rumors this was going to be released for months, especially when the deleted scenes were removed from the home release. Plus the Tom/Tobey/Andrew intro that they put in front of the new release was recorded around the same time they did that 30 interview with Deadline, which was back in January. So they have basically been planning on doing this new release at the very least since then, possibly even earlier than that.

Still grateful for the Cut. I just wish they would've put in some Extended Action Scenes because we all know that Ock scene was much longer.

I have no way of knowing for sure, but I think it's hard for it not to be given it was probably cheap to do.

I'm curious to see if they're gonna put it out on home video or not.

Had a dream friday night that a 4th mcu spiderman movie trailer came out and it was awesome lol. I guess its because I am starting to go crazy with wanting spiderman 2 ps5 game play and the fact a few days ago would have been across the spider verse release if it had not been delayed. I wonder if we will get a 4th movie announced any time soon.

I see no reason for Sony NOT to release it on Blu-Ray/4K. Far From Home's Blu-Ray and Special Features were already announced before they put out that Extended Cut. They have no excuse here.

The reason I asked is because Avatar's re-release is at 72 Million while NWH hasnt even crossed 10 Million yet (it's at 9 Million) and they won't even update the numbers.

Bettys high school goodbye video works much better than this MoM trailer as after credit scene. I like how bittersweet that turns out.
I was talking about the Box Office. I like the More Fun Stuff Version and is happy that it exists. I just feel had Sony went all out on this version, they would've made alot more $ but instead they lazily did the bare minimum (just like with the other Alt Cuts after Spider-Man 2.1).

Avatar also hadn't been in theaters since it was originally out, and was in theaters in various markets for the first time. NWH was still relatively new, thus another release isn't as desirable in this case. Not a fair comparison

Fair enough, I still believe that it could've made more had Sony not been so lazy and I say this as someone who liked the More Fun Stuff Version. More people would've been more inclined to the see the movie again had it been 25-30 Minutes of new footage instead of 11.

Sorry went to see this in theaters!! Was really disappointed in what they added!!( just the extra stuff loved original cut) but extra high school stuff and said another daredevil scene which turned out to be only Matt Murdoch!! Thought the advertisement said spidey and daredevil had a scene together that’s all!! Plus I still say it was a nice way for Sony to grab extra cash!! Yes I know it’s only my opinion

Maybe I wasn’t disappointed because I knew Sony was only going to do the bare minimum and only add back the Deleted Scenes that they took away from the Blu-Ray. I learned my lesson with the Editor’s Cut lol.

Not sure where you got the idea that Matt Murdock was going to appear as Daredevil from.

Forgot where I read it but they said another scene with daredevil. Don’t know against n maybe on google??!! I don’t remember I also thought the ad also said spidey and daredevil meet!! Was there a dvd extended cut released for no way home?? I originally thought yes then saw it was going to be on screen and didn’t see a dvd sale daye

NWH More Fun Stuff Version is available to rent/buy internationally but not in the U.S.

EDIT: Seems to be a glitch
