I was watching Rowan J Coleman's SUPERMAN IV retrospective [link], where I was reminded that Reeve came very close to directing the film (as a condition of signing on for another one), and still did a lot of 2nd-unit work with Sidney J. Furie in the director's chair (while Golam & Globus was busy slashing their budget throughout the production, but that's another story.)

The idea of Reeve directing one of these is so damn cool, it made me rewrite my Chris/Lynda/Michael team-up timeline to put Reeve at the helm for IV. Since his contract covered the first 3 films, the proposal would be to first do the team-up to revive interest in the character, and follow that with IV and V once again shot back-to-back, with Chris directing IV, where he can do his nuclear disarmament story with a proper budget and script, and (hopefully) Donner returning for a slam-bang, Braniac-filled finale in V.

I know that Reeve almost re-teamed with the Salkinds for V in real life, but because IV was such a dud, the window just kinda came and went.

I read Wes Craven was considered to direct Superman IV, bizarre but cool choice, I think he could have made something pretty good, at least decent, even with low budget.

I’ve actually been thinking of an Elseworlds Batman III lately. IMO, Nicolas Cage would have been a stellar Riddler maybe just focused on one villain—Billy Dee Williams’ Two Face could have been an opening/intro sequence that serves as an inciting incident to kick off the movie.

Instead of Chase Meridan helping Bruce conquer his demons, it’s a love from his past—Andrea Beaumont.

I was thinking that the three villains would each challenge Batman / Bruce's psych with his intellect, his fears, and his passions.

I think the three villains would compliment each other very well and would have posed a different type of threat to him than someone like Joker or Penguin.

So I could see it being a film about Batman / Bruce Wayne with alot of pathos and with the heroes own inner struggles.

I like your idea of a Batman 3 with just Riddler, Andrea, and Two Face as an intro Baddie.

Andrea Beaumont is one of my favorite Batman characters in general, and it's too bad she hasn't made it to live action yet.
