Illumination's Super Mario movie

Peach looks good, now where is my boy Luigi?

Seeing all these characters in an animated setting with slightly different proportions is throwing me off.

Yeah, you're so used to the other models that it can be jarring at first.

Did not expect the N64 Penguins.

What little we heard of the voice is what I expected…Movie looks gorgeous and Jack Black changing his voice up as Bowser sounded great.

The animation looks great. Pratt's Mario voice sounded too much like himself when he said "What is this place?" but you can hear more of an accent when he says "Mushroom Kingdom, here we come" which sounded a lot better. Jack Black as Bowser sounds even better than I expected.

I think this is gonna be a huge hit. Dare I say it might kickstart a Nintendo Cinematic Universe.

Ok this looks really great. And the little bit of Pratt’s voice so far sounded promising to me.

ok…this looks surprisingly good

The animation is stellar. It looks like what I imagine an animated Mario movie would look like. Still need to see more, but I don't really have any negatives right now save for Pratt's voice from what little we heard.

So...so we're all cool with this? We're not going to do the thing we always do?

I will... :funny:

While visually the film seems perfectly in line with current animation standards, as a casual viewer with nothing more than a little bit of curiosity about the project, this trailer seemed rather hollow.

Of course, I'm not going to already condemn the entire project only on this. My point is more that a random Bowser scene, running for almost two minutes with no context, nothing, doesn't make a good trailer. In fact, to me, the whole thing felt more like a sort of sneak peek, or a teaser, an announcement, 100% aimed at an audience of afficionados.

But then again, maybe the film knows too well it doesn't need more to succeed anyway?

Yeah looks fine. So I've never seen any of the Illumination movies, but this looks...well like a trailer for one of those.
I chuckle at the trailer but it doesn't seem it's a movie made for me aka someone who's 30. I feel that way about most non Pixar animated movies (and honestly nowadays Pixar is 50/50 with how "mature" their movies seem from the trailer).
And that's not a knock on those movies at all. A lot of times they seem like movies for kids and that's fine. Not everything needs to be made for everyone.

I hear a lot of the Illumination movies are decent to actually good. But to me a lot of it looks pretty basic. This doesn't look any different.

The whole first half with Bowser and the penguins was pretty funny. And that animation looks gorgeous. Jack Black as Bowser seemed great and Keegan Michael Key as Toad seemed really good too. But it's just so weird hearing Pratt and Day's voices for Mario and Luigi. We only heard them briefly but still. I guess I'm so used to the VG voices.

But yeah looks like a fine kids movie from the brief look we saw. Animation was really good

Im pretty out on Cinematic Universes unless DC ever gets their stuff together but a Nintendo one could be pretty cool. I wish Sonic could join but he's at SONY.

A FZero movie could be good. Never will happen haha but that'd be pretty bad ass even in animation. And then of course Zelda. Maybe do something more with Pokemon since Detective Pikachu underperforms

EDIT: Star Fox could be badass too
