Secret Wars discussion

Quoting @Pennywise from the civil War thread.

No limits to this film if true. :funny:
Depends on what is a major Marvel film.

Tobey McGuire
Andrew Garfield
Tom Hardy
Patrick Stewart
Hugh Jackman
Ryan Reynolds

Are already in the mcu

Would they consider Fantastic Four 2005, Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer, Fant4stic, The Punisher, Punisher War Zone, The New Mutants, Hulk 2003, Daredevil 2003, Elektra 2005, Morbius, Ghost Rider 2007 and Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance. Only 5 of those films grossed more than $100 million in North America and allhave been outgrossed by 30 MCU films.

I guess someone from X-Men First Class era would return as well. For me, I want to see the F4 fox cast back and Jennifer Garner. I would be surprised if they could get Ben Affleck, that would be huge.

So we really going to get hella cameos and appearances in this from former X-Men movies and Spider-Men are coming back? Kilmonger apparently I could see a multiverse where he stayed BP so he would be a villain for some of the movie.

So it seems. Taking the blueprint of the original 80's Secret Wars and sprinkling the multiverse aspect of the 2015 version.

Also, there's a rumor going around that (spoiler-tagging this just in case it ends up being true)
Hugh Jackman's Wolverine and Tobey Maguire's Spider-Man will meet and interact in this.

tbh, I'm already kinda sick of variants
Maybe that's why I'm less hyped for the Multiverse Saga than the Infinity Saga, despite my best efforts and really enjoying a lot of the Phase 4 stuff

They could've just done No Way Home OR Multiverse of Madness, and left it at that
I was satisfied with what we got of Garfield and Tobey, I don't need to see them again
Patrick Stewart and Hugh Jackman are more than enough from the Fox-verse

Idk, I feel like basing a whole saga on blatant nostalgia is a mistake, especially when a lot of the properties being mentioned didn't exactly set the world on fire in the first place.

Although, one thing I would take would be Happy Hogan and Foggy Nelson having a boxing match.
Special Presentation? Make it happen Marvel.

The Variants thing is a little played out and loosing some of it's appeal for sure. And now the most recent rumor of the Beyonder being a Kang variant just has me asking why? I mean the only scenario I can come up with in my head where this would be mildly acceptable is if the Beyonder is a Seperate character to begin with and maybe Galactus is introduced before Secret Wars and they use Kang in the roll of Doctor Doom using technology to feed off Galactus who was in return feeding off everything left in existence so he could take on the beyonder. So this would mean Kang would go up against the beyonder with a full powered Galactus level power and after defeating the beyonder he could become Time Eater Kang, which is a version of him in the comics that would kind of keep Secret Wars somewhat comic accurate while also include nods to a variant story of kang from the comics. But thats the best I can hope for if that rumor is true.

Surfer

I am 95% convinced he and Garfield will return for Secret Wars.

98% for me :cwink:

NWH made too much money for Marvel not to throw the bag at them, and they seem up for it.

I am wondering if they'll actually have MCU Peter have the symbiote suit by the time we get to this movie like in the original comic run.

I really really hope MBJ will play a BP variant in Secret Wars. Shuri can also be a variant, but N’Jdaka needs to wear the BP costume in SW like in that What If episode (of course not as a villain)

You know, if it so happens that Ryan Coogler isn’t able to direct this, if the positive buzz and reviews coming out about Creed III being great and MBJ directing the hell out of it, and him still innovating on that franchise make him and this film super popular and profitable, I wonder if he would be open to doing it. He’s already got connections with the MCU, so it’s not completely out of the realm of possibility.

Also, Jonathan Majors being a part of both franchises.

if so, than give him a smaller solo-movie first, not the biggest MCU movie of all time

Yeah, would be a cool thing to see and we know he is totally capable of it.

Yeah, it would be too much of a big task for him.

I’d be cool with that, too.

Armor Wars doesn’t have a director yet. Maybe he could do that one? The man is a big anime fan, and some reviews for Creed III have said he brings his love of fighting anime to the fights in that film. One of his other favorite anime is Gundam Wing, so I’m sure he could bring a lot of that mech anime flair to the suit battles.

Does anyone really believe for a second that this is going to be entirely made up of those old casts with no MCU players? Because ehhhhh… I’m not so sure.

No way that's ever gonna happen. :funny:

Some of them coming in this movie and playing supporting roles? Sure. But the MCU characters will still be front and center in each movie.

Of course not haha.

There we go. Bring him in Deadpool 3, this or both. Would be interesting stuff to see him interact with Wanda as well.

On another note, I still remember that old interview of his on the Graham Norton Show where he seemed sort of bummed over not being in Logan. :hehe:

I'd love to see Ian in Deadpool 3. Bring them all in. :D

As someone who is not too familiar with Kang's history in the comics, I have been thinking about how the writers might bring the conflict with Kang to a satisfying conclusion. One idea that I think could work well is drawing inspiration from the TV series DARK, which also deals with complex issues of time, causality, and the consequences of meddling with history.

In DARK, the characters discover the existence of an origin timeline that serves as the source of all other timelines. Without giving away any spoilers, this concept is used in a very interesting and thought-provoking way to bring the story to a close.

I think it would be fascinating if the MCU writers took a similar approach with Kang, revealing the existence of an origin timeline that is the source of all other timelines. This could provide a way for the heroes to break free from the cycle of cause and effect that Kang is perpetuating, and find a solution to the problem that doesn't involve endless time travel or fighting Kang indefinitely.

Of course, there are many different ways that the writers could approach this challenge, but I think the idea of discovering an origin timeline has a lot of potential to create an engaging and thought-provoking story. It would allow the writers to explore the ethical dilemmas of time travel and causality, as well as the complex relationships between the characters as they try to work together to save the multiverse. Overall, I'm really excited to see how the MCU writers will bring the conflict with Kang to a close, and I think drawing inspiration from DARK could be a great way to do it.
