Do you want a Black Adam II or a movie set after Black Adam 2022 like a team up movie or a Justice Society of America spin off?

Johnson said he's not fighting Supes right away, so maybe the next film can have Black Adam join the JSA proper (taking Supes' suggestion perhaps, god to god, reminding him that Waller doesn't exactly have any power over them), and dealing with the Thanagarian Invasion.

Perhaps the movie (be it called Black Adam 2, or JSA) could be about Adam struggling to move past his family's death and start a new one with Amon and Adrianna (who also become Osiris and Isis). At the same time we could have Hawkman unable to accept the new Dr. Fate and move past Kent's death (with plenty of flashbacks to the founding of the JSA and their prior friendship) realizing he needs to get over himself and try to repair relationships with JSA members (explaining why they were not around in the first film), and most importantly with Hawkgirl.

And then perhaps the next movie we have Supes and the JL vs Black Adam and the JSA for whatever reason (the death of Isis/Osiris? Geopolitical reasons? Waller's meddling?), and in the end, Shazam, who's initially denied into the JL because of his age, is the only one who can take on Black Adam. Maybe he even resolves it as Billy, knowing deep down that Adam won't kill a kid. Could be called Shazam 3, JSA2, JL something, or whatever. Whatever it is, it could be huge.

JSA movie, with better writers/writers who aren't entirely shackled to pushing The Rock.
Make the plot "the JSA has to gather to recover the Helm of Nabu from Magical Nonsense so that it can choose a new inheritor", who can be either Hector Hammond or Khalid Nassour as you prefer. Villain is Mordru, who wants to steal the Helm for himself. If Brosnan wants to return, he can show up as a spirit mentor type thing within the Helm.

Shazam III with a Black Adam as the sympathetic villain.

And most definitely a Dr Fate prequel

I’d also be down with a JSA film so long as they aren’t ordered around by Amanda Waller.

I want a JSA film and I’d also take a Dr Fate prequel if Brosnan is interested (thought he was great).

Frankly, I have zero interest in any more Black Adam. He's a B grade villain from a superhero comic that not that many people like anyway.

I'd dig a decent JSA film though, if they could bring Brosnan back.

Even if Brosnan doesn't want to come back for a full role, you could always have Brosnan voice the helm as a spirit mentor for whoever the new Dr Fate is ( Hector Hall or Khalid Nassour presumably ).

Anyway, since I've advocated it in other threads, a never-gonna-happen hypothetical Black Adam sequel story!

-We start with Black Adam, ruling over Khandaq. Yes, he might technically not be king, but I would make clear that yes, he's the one in charge regardless of any earlier resolve. ( This is me soft retconning a certain plot element from the first movie, though it could be an explicit subtext if you wish. )

-Because he personally and Khandaq more generally are somewhat international pariahs, one of the things Adam does to help keep his country functional is that he opens his doors to superhuman immigrants, regardless of their legal status. As long as your willing to behave and contribute to Khandaq, Black Adam doesn't care about your legal status elsewhere in the world.

-As such, Khandaq is now something of a haven for outlaws and supervillains of a certain variety, basically those functional enough to want a second chance at a cleaner life, or at least able to pretend to for their own benefit. Occasionally a psychopath pushes their luck and Black Adam has to punch someone's head off, but it mostly works.

-Suddenly, disaster strikes. Some kind of superhuman rampage like Chemo happens, things go unstable, and Black Adam is very busy trying to put down the chaos. He's so busy that he almost misses *why* this chaos started, because a bunch of much subtler stuff is also happening amidst the distraction. And the cause of that subtler stuff? The Suicide Squad.

-What is going on? Basically, one of the supervillains who took up the Khandaq opportunity is someone that Amanda Waller *really really* wants to either capture and black bag, or else kill. And she's willing to play really dirty to do it. So, she sent the latest iteration of the Suicide Squad ( a much nastier version then before, where at least half the roster are complete monsters ) to Khandaq, where they first engaged in some sabotage to unleash superhuman chaos, and then sought to use that cover to get at their target.

-Who is the target? I'm envisioning some kind of mad scientist like Professor Ivo, who has a secret of his own. Specifically, he is nowhere near as benign and well meaning as he pretended to Black Adam, but is much better at hiding it than the typical psychopath. And he has his own agenda. . .

-Black Adam finally catches up with the Squad, and it goes about as well as you'd expect. Which is to say, he kills a bunch of them, mainly the worst of the monsters amongst them that you are happy to see die. At about this point, Professor Ivo fires off his *own* endgame, and unleashes his secret project to Rule the World/Gain Revenge/Whatever; if we use Ivo, its probably some form of Amazo.

-Black Adam has to team up with the surviving remnants of the Squad to stop something much, much worse. They do so, during which Black Adam learns that at least a few of the Squad are not complete monsters, and the Squad survivors learn that Black Adam isn't the unfeeling tyrant that Waller described in their briefings, either.

-In the wrecked aftermath, the surviving Squad members mostly give up, expecting to be executed by Black Adam. Adam actually does zap them with lightning. . . but in a twist, he's not killing them, he's burning out the explosive implants from them, because Adam actually really hates the idea of anyway being so enslaved. Having freed them from Waller, he then. . . punches the head off of the one remaining complete monster on the team, because they still deserved to die. The rest, he tells to get out of his country before he changes his mind about mercy.

-The Squad survivors, freed, do exactly that, running like hell for the nearest border. . . except for one. Whoever was the designated most sympathetic Squad member basically drops on their knees and begs for asylum instead. After a short conversation, Black Adam grants it.

In the poll I voted JSA, Dr Fate and Hawkman. Any of those would be great for me.

The more I think about it. I want this to be a 1 and done.

JSA is interesting but unfortunately their foundation is through Black Adam, which makes a Justice Society movie or solo movie for any of the members impossible.

I'll be real surprised if we see a BA 2 now.
More than likely we'll see Dr Fate and hawkman films first.

Yep, and that would be fine with me, if not a full JSA movie

After 31 days in theaters,
Black Adam is now available on digital.

Even if this were somewhat of a hit, I dont see a need for a BA solo sequel. From here on out, he should be in Shazam or team movies

Hindsight is 20/20 but maybe he should have been in another hero's film first.
If it was a hit then do a prequel solo film.

I truly have no desire to ever see The Rock play this character again. Not that I dislike the Rock or anything, I just feel he was miscast.

I don't get what is about this character that inspired him so much. Also, antihero Black Adam just isn't interesting to me.

I think its less about the character inspiring him and more "I want to be the star of my own superhero franchise" and Black Adam looks like The Rock and has a similar build and has cool powers, so he picked him. Maybe that is why the movie didn't do very well? Its just a vanity project for The Rock.

In 15 years all i heard him say is that Black Adam looked like him and was cool.
I cant remember if he ever gone deeper on why he likes him.

But would one really fight for 15 years for a character that they just care about on a superficial level?
Like im sure he could have gotten a DC project off the ground with his name easier than Black Adam.
But he kept insisting he wants Black Adam.

Watching the movie, i still dont get what really kept his interest in that character.
Like, there is nothing in the script that makes you feel some deeper connection or so.
You can tell the script cared for Doctor Fate and Hawkman, but Black Adam...was just there, a plot device more than character.

Thing is, in my mind, Black Adam is seen as a villain, first and foremost, then you learn a few snippets and feel for him.. misunderstood maybe.

Rock wasn't brave enough to play a bad guy.. he has too much charm and good will.. he likes being the hero and it sent a confusing message in this movie, he didn't seem bad, just a pissed off dad... but then punisher does that better.

If anything he should have championed to play Steel - I could see him more as John Henry Irons.

Lex Luthor be a fun role too.

Well, this aged like the finest milk, didn't it?

I could see him playing a more amped up version of the STAS Lex Luthor, since that Luthor was way more charismatic, and the problem with Rock's Black Adam was he was so bland and one note.

Steel? Maybe.

The way I would like Lex to be portrayed, is this larger than life, impressive political figure that no on would touch, want to touch... there are rumours he's up to no good but you can't prove it.. he gets away with it.

however Clark is on his case and right at the end, in private, when superman swoops down, you see that look in his eye, pure evil that shows a fight is on..

No one wants to touch him because he's so well liked and beloved, kind of like The Rock ;)

Which is sadly ironic because that is how he became a star in pro wrestling, playing an entertaining and charismatic bad guy who had to turn babyface later on because he was just too entertaining to boo. He didn't do it with his muscles and his cool look (even though it helped), he did it because of his promos and his charisma.

I ultimately think if he had hitched his wagon to Shazam instead of Black Adam he would've had a better chance at success. Maybe re-imagine Billy Batson as a trash talking street kid with an attitude, which would've allowed Rock to bring in some of his WWE charisma and alpha maleness to the part in an entertaining and fun way (instead of trying to be the strong and silent type as Black Adam, which just isn't very interesting).
