The Doctor Doom Thread

Well unfortunately, there’s difference between what we’d like to see and what we’re likely to see.

Disney has, frankly, struggled with their series.

They can’t seem to put a solid 8-9 hour story together and they rely on filler and gimmicks rather than solid writing of a complete, well paced, well constructed 8-9 hour story

They seem to be more comfortable with the shorter, more concise “Special” format, and that seems to be the direction they’re going.

I’d love to see a longer, more fleshed-out story, but they don’t seem comfortable doing that, and after what I’ve seen over the last couple years, I’m concerned if they did do a longer story, they’d screw it up.

if they get the guy who did Andor and give him creative freedom (highly doubtful) they might be able to pull it off

Star Wars makes blech movies and great Disney + series and vice versa for Marvel.

They should share some notes with each other

I've been a huge fan of the low budget Vampire movie series Subspecies...from the first movie the character Karl I always thought would have made a GREAT Boris

The new video game Midnight Suns...the last line of the spoiler filled synopsis.
Synopsis[edit]
Doctor Faustus of Hydra uses a twist of dark magic and science to raise Lilith, Mother of Demons from her eternal slumber; resulting in an alliance between her and Hydra. Within the following six months, a star known as the Midnight Sun begins approaching Earth and destabilizing magic; heralding the return of the elder God Chthon.

Doctor Strange and Iron Man try to get Johnny Blaze to hand over the Parchment of Power, but he flatly turns them down. Alerted to magic converging at the Sanctum Santorum, the two return to check on Wanda Maximoff and are joined shortly by Captain Marvel, just as Hydra goons arrive via magic. Lillith arrives next, only to be distracted by Wanda; allowing Strange to repel her and set up a mystic shield. Realizing the Avengers are no match for this mystic threat, Strange leaves Wanda to maintain the shield and takes the others to the Abbey for help. After meeting the Midnight Suns (Nico Minoru, Magik, Blade and Robbie Reyes), Strange meets with Caretaker (Lillith's estranged sister) and asks for her help to resurrect the Hunter; Lillith's child and killer. During the resurrection, something goes wrong with a collar the Hunter wears; forcing Nico to pitch in and complete the spell. The Hunter's memory is foggy, prompting Strange to contact Wanda for spell books to help; unfortunately, the heroes find her in trouble maintaining the shield. Hunter, Strange and Blade go to the Sanctum, only to find that Venom has fallen under Lillith's thrall and uprooted the Sanctum in symbiote slime; allowing Lillith to break in and capture Wanda. Venom proves too much thanks to his mystic enhancement; though he is soon distracted by Spider-Man's arrival, allowing the others to retreat.

In the following days, the Hunter reunites with their hell hound Charlie and meets the ghost of Agatha Harkness, Wanda's teacher, whom was killed in an accident. The Gamma energy from the Midnight Sun is also keeping Bruce Banner from Hulking out. Using social media, they track down Spider-Man and help him repel Venom; gaining a new teammate. The heroes attempt to capture Faustus to learn what Lillith is up to; though he is killed by Crossbones to keep quiet, they obtain his journal and learn Hydra is stealing the Sanctum artifacts. Sabertooth is also hired to kill Hunter, but is badly wounded in a fight with them and Wolverine; the weakened mutant is enthralled by Lillith. Avengers Tower falls under attack, with Captain America joining joining team; though Banner has fallen under Lillith's spell and destroys the Tower after stealing a Gamma accelerator. Fed up with the heroes not looking for Wanda, Hunter, Nico and Magik use a divination spell to teleprot to a Hydra base; there, Bruce uses rue accelerator to boost the corrupted Wanda's powers. Unable to reason with her, they retreat.

Spider-Man lures Venom to a bell tower, to steal a piece of the symbiote and knock him out of commission; the sample is used to create a suit to help Hunter neutralize the slime around the Sanctum. However, no sooner does this happen, Lillith has it blown up; removing the mystical protection it had on the world. This allows Sabertooth to track down Blaze and kill everyone at the carnival he lives at; though Wolverine is recruited and a demon is captured. The demon is used to create a suit to allow Hunter through a shield keeping the Suns out of the Hydra base; needing the accelerator to create a Gamma gun to destroy the Parchment of Power. Hunter frees Wanda, after seeing the hope and bonds of the Suns. Robbie is contacted by Blaze, who offers the page and a way to stop the prophecy of the Midnight Sun. However, it turns out Hunter is an integral part of the prophecy and Blaze intends to seal them in limbo with Mephisto. Magik releases them, allowing the heroes to bring their plan to destroy the page. However, Hydra and Sabertooth find them; though Magik sends Sabertooth to limbo. Blaze takes the page back, willing to sacrifice himself to the blast of the Gamma Cannon. However, right as the blast goes off, Banner jumps in the way, unlocking his Hulk form and taking the page.

The heroes track Hydra and Lillith back to her tomb, where Robbie causes a cave in to try sealing her and Hulk before they can reatoee the Darkhold; it fails and Lillith unleashes demons everywhere on Earth. The heroes steal a dagger imbued with Chthon's power, which can destroy the book; while having Wanda and Hunter subdue and free Banner from Lillith's control. The entire team goes to battle Lillith at Chthon's alter, only for her to reveal that she had been planning to kill him; to free herself from his service and protect Hunter. She breaks the collar Hunter wears, unaware that it was a ward against Chthon possessing them. Hunter expels the vile being, while Lillith uses uses dagger to stab the book. Returned to normal, Lilith sends everyone back to the Abbey, but finds Hunter still with her; they were tainted by the Darkhold when she tried to save them as a child. Both accept accept fate as the book release a blast of magic energy. Caretaker is sure Hunter and Lillith may have survived, while Strange moves into the Abbey until the Sanctum is rebuilt.

Unknown to everyone, Doctor Doom had seen the events that transpired and takes the Darkhold; deeming the other users "amateurs".

Well that is depressing....literally Secret Wars is all Kang...it's blasphemy...love the character but I can't believe Doom will be ignored...guess IF they even bring him in the earliest will be Phase 7...2026 at the earliest is beyond ridiculous

Here we go again...I refuse to buy into anymore gossip unless Marvel themselves or my own eyes, show me Doom/Latveria

This is my thoughts on Kang (whom I like):

You don't think he can pull it off? Or do you have a problem seeing him onscreen?

50/50

He’s great at playing oddballs, but he doesn’t (even with the Harry Potter thing) work fir me as the intense, brilliant Doom.

Plus, I’d like a real Eastern European actor. Not someone doing a fake accent.

So its 2023...no news yet on Doom or Latveria (beginning to wonder if his fate is DOOMED in the MCU) but with Phase 5 kicking off next month with Antman 3, does anyone think any of the tv or film projects in this phase will deal with our Latverian Lord or his native homeland at all??/

At this point, who knows? I would want to say yes, but no project in Phase 5 screams "Doom" to me. I think if I had to guess, maybe we get some hint of Doom in the FF movie in some form, but before then...I don't see an obvious place for him

Well, a simple mention of Latveria just to at least confirm it actually exists in the MCU would be enough to wet the appetite....that said...Captain America New World Order...Thunderbolts...I could see those as possibilities...if Kang is connected to Doom at all like the comics, then some mention of an ancestor or threat ...even alluding of a "dictator in eastern europe" would be enough to get the ball going....just give us SOMETHING

Its like I said, waiting to the F4 release to do anything with the character just reaffirms to the general public that he can only be tied to them and not have the flexibility to connect to other characters.

Maybe an offhand mention of it? So a step below when they went to Madripoor in Falcon and the Winter Soldier.
